The Wandering Bard

"I am a singer, a poet, a musician, a storyteller. I am a bard at heart. That is who I am. That is what I shall always be." (Icon by atokota on FurAffinity)

    Some OC Questions

Hey, all! This is a meme by gilgamemesh I've seen around Tumblr, and since I haven't gotten any asks about it there, I thought I'd post it here! Here's how it works: pick a number or multiple numbers from the list, post it/them in the comments, and in about a week or so (depending on how many asks I get), I'll post a follow-up blog about it! And if two people ask about the same number, that's

Revisions, Revisions... · 8:07pm Sep 26th, 2015

For anyone familiar with my work, you may remember my story, Guardian Halo. But if you're new to my work, or if you need a refresher, here's the story description:

When Starswirl the Bearded sets out to find an end to the chaos plaguing Equestria, he asks his friend Halo to accompany him. The pegasus mare has yet to earn her cutie mark, but perhaps she can find her purpose along the way...

Now, some of you may see that the description is a bit different. Same idea, but a different delivery. And the same is true for the story itself. With the gracious help of my dear friend Emylia Hawke (who I seriously think I owe one-hundred times over at this point :rainbowlaugh:), Guardian Halo has received a bit of a polish. While the core story is exactly the same, there are some parts that are shiny and new. Thanks to Emylia's help and suggestions, I've cleaned up the grammar here and there, added in some more reactions for Lyric, Amber Leaf and the others, and I've also altered dialogue to give each character a more unique voice.

But, as is always the way with me, that was only the start. Of course, as I re-read and re-read, I kept finding a wording to change, a comma to add or take away, or something that needed tweaking. And so it went, over, and over, and over, and... Well, you get the point. :twilightsheepish: Now, though, I am proud to say that I am completely satisfied with this revision. It has been long in coming, but it is a story that I can be even more proud of now. It still has the fairy tale-esque feel to it, but it also gives a deeper insight into each character. Maybe not by much, but enough. And that is good enough for me. No matter if you're a long-standing follower of mine, or even if you're new to my work, I hope you'll like what has been done.

So, why have I done this? Well, I decided to do a reading of it once I reached 100 followers. Clearly, that milestone has passed, and I want to thank each and every one of you, from the first to the most recent. Do you have any idea how happy you all make me? No? Well, I hope you do now. I appreciate each and every one of you, and I am so happy that we've met. You all brighten my days so much, and make it such a delight to be a part of this community. You make me so proud to be a brony. A nicer group of people I could not have met. I hope you all like the reading, as I'm doing it to thank you.

But! In addition to this, Emylia is also in the midst of revising her story, Night Terrors, once again. This shall be the last revision, and it is most definitely the strongest of them all. This is the story that started our collaboration on Emylia's Shadowmancer Saga, and the one that officially introduced Lyric into that universe. The saga and the story itself features Emylia's OC, Misty Moonrise, though Lyric makes an appearance every now and again. :raritywink: I remember when Emylia asked if she could borrow Lyric for the story. I was blown away! Another author wanted to use Lyric in their story? What an honor that was! And then when Emylia asked if I would collaborate with her on the Saga, you could imagine my elation.

What is Night Terrors about, you ask?

Nightmares are coming alive all across the dreamscape, entrapping unsuspecting dreamers in the all too real and perilous world where imagination reigns and memory haunts. Even dreamwalkers—the masters of dream and nightmare—find themselves confronted by their worst nightmares. Dreamwalkers and dreamers alike must tread carefully, lest they lose themselves to the very real nightmares of the Never.

I strongly urge you to read it. It is a fantastic story in its own merit. I've absolutely fallen in love with the universe that Emylia has created, and her characters have charmed their ways into my heart. Their adventures have made me smile, made me laugh, and made my heart ache. I could not recommend them enough.

Emylia, thank you for including Lyric, and for asking me to be a part of this. It has been a blast so far.

Here's to revisions! Here's to collaborations! Here's to friendship! Friendship is love. Love to you all.

:facehoof: I'm so silly.

I forgot to check out your fics!!!! :fluttershbad:

 It's completely fine, Catty. We each have our lives outside of FIMFiction. Take it all at your own pace.

3421837 I promise I'll get around to it! You have my word! I bet all your stories are fantasticabulously resplendentatious! :pinkiehappy:

(Not real words...:rainbowlaugh:)

:rainbowlaugh: Well, I certainly hope that they do not disappoint! Thanks for being such an awesome friend.

3421850 You too! Have a lovely time tonight! :scootangel:

I know what I'm doing tonight!

Thank you! For the most part, it was a good time. I'll elaborate tomorrow, as I'm about to pass out now. :rainbowlaugh:

3423356 Have yourself a great night! I cannot wait to hear your most likely lovely story!

Adding Lyric as a Character... mmhhhh. I think I can make a chapter with her appearing in Ponyville.:moustache: I cannot remember the name of the other character, but it was when Lyric was sitting with the... "Oh, wait. I need to put spoiler on..." the cloaked unicorn stallion at the fountain. The OC could come past her in time, and maybe listen to her tale she shares.

Edit: I meant the Unicorn named Pan.:scootangel:

3423721
While I'd be more than happy to allow you to use Lyric, Pan Handle isn't my character. Might be best not to include him. But to use Lyric, you have my blessing!

3424048 Thanks! and I'll be sure to leave Pan out of it. It'll be just Lyric sitting at the fountain, telling tales to little foals as she plays on her lute and the OC walks by, and maybe listens to a few things she might have to share.

It is all still for future works, but I think it is a somewhat nice way of how I can repay you a bit for helping me.:scootangel: After all, the story wouldn't have made it this far without your teachings, Miss Lyric.:moustache:

Ps: It'll this is good to use for 'it will', right?:twilightsheepish:

3424645
 Thank you, Lazydrill. I just don't want to cause issues by having you use someone else's OC without their permission. Some people love it, others... not so much.

I know it's for future works, but I can't wait to see this! Even if it is a quick cameo, it is an honor. And that was the perfect usage of "it'll".
