TVTropes account is a go · 3:53pm Aug 29th, 2015

Remember how I talked about making a tropes page for Dark Horse? Well, I've gotten my thumbs out about that, and thought I'd at least try.

Ta-da!

Still rather bare-bones, but not bad for a first try if I do say so myself. Feel free to add anything you can think of, be it feedback here or edits over on the page.

Are you allowed to make an article on your own story?

Yup.

Just not stuff like 'Crowning moment of X' and reviews. Objective stuff like that.

So basically as long as its an actual part of the story it doesn't matter who described the trope, but any 'ZOMG, best thing e-var!' astroturfing gets your ass banned.

Here, the actual bit from the FAQ:

Can I make a page for a work that I created?
Yeah, sure, go ahead. You're allowed to trope your own works. Just make sure you understand that once the page is out there, you won't have any control or ownership over it — anyone is allowed to edit it, and any editor will have the same rights and privileges as you. This is why it's a bad idea to make Word of God statements for your own work on its wiki page. You are also not allowed to create or add items to a YMMV subpage or related subpages, and you may not review your own work or add recommendations for your own work.

Uh, this "magic loophole non lethal death curse " is new to me.

I traded another look with Carlos, but he just had the same: ‘Is she really talking about what I think?’ look as I had on.

Besides, why juggle dinky little hand grenades, when the suitcase nukes are just laying right there?

And presumably this ‘real’ magic is drawn from... within? One’s inner energies tapped and shaped into what you consider the order things should be or happen in?” I started carefully. “While ‘chaos’ magic as you call it, manipulates and uses ambient energies? To force the way the user believes things should be?” A small trickle of intuition made me frown, and add: “Harmony magic being some supercharged mix of the two? Like somehow smacking hydrogen and antihydrogen together and using that power, instead of blowing yourself up?”

Dresden just hasn't gotten around to using the 'D' word when it comes to describing that yet.

So its there already, even been talked about (briefly) in the comments, its just going to be spelled-out more clearly next chapter.

Insistent Terminology: Suggest you add the alicorn thing

3355785 Same here. It was never stated in the story (unless in the new, unpublished chapter) nor has any implication of this shown up.
In any case, this seems wrong, because Dresden files death curses are pretty much just like any other spell, except you basically cast them by depleting the entirety of your life force. Which doesn't actually deplete naturally just because you are fatally injured. It doesn't seem to have any extra properties aside from being really, really powerful, meaning it can brute force some defences, and home in similar to sympethetic links.

You're both right, I'll tweak things.

Hopefully it should make more sense once it reaches the actual story.
