I don't know what you're talking about, I've always looked like this.

Sorry about the lack of stuff and things · 8:28am Jul 28th, 2015

Work has been kicking my ass, life has decided that now that I have money it'll be fun to take away as much of it as humanly possible for shits and giggles before I even do anything with it, and I can't summon up the will to draw any more images, think up new riddles or even solve my own cypher (I fucked it up and it needs to be reworked), and now I am sitting here, looking ahead to the changeling arc and just kind of... slumping in my seat.

Not gonna lie guys, I don't think I can pull it off to any manner of satisfaction. I love this story to death and I fucked up in rushing through two arcs that should've been allowed room to breath on their own just getting here and now... I don't know, just temper your expectations is all I am saying. Next blog will be happier, I promise.

It's always better to break the difficult part and rebuild from there than to bend the awkward part and leave rest of the story that awkward tilt.

Unfavorited. Story is gonna be bad now. Handy said it himself right here:

Mwahaha! Fuck you guys. I'm secretly plotting to kill off all your favorite characters in Bad Mondays. I am Handyman and I said this! [citation needed]

But seriously, don't worry yourself too much about it. We'll stick with you no matter what.

3276009 I 100% agree that us readers will support Handyman, no matter what choices he makes.

Lies! I'm your proofreader so I know this behind the scenes stuff. You've got me hyped for the coming arc. Wash this funk away and you'll feel better about it once you've turned ideas into reality.

I appreciate the sentiments guys, but I am not shutting down BM, I'm just warning you I'm just not feeling the story right now, so the next arc is likely to be lackluster.

3276041 But... But... funks are so comfortable though...

3276014 Unless he kills Shortbeak.

3276067 Eh, depending on what you have planned, the changeling arc is kinda predictable, considering what kind of characters the changelings are.

3276146 Predictability, I suppose is a big problem, since it has even more foreshadowing than the tournament arc did in terms of whose showing up to the party and why.

3276180 No Handyman, no trying to be like that overhyped subpar writer George RR Martin.

3276226 You're going to need to be more specific, I've only ever watched the show, I don't read the books or read the author's blogs.

If you're feeling burned out from trying to generate the next arc, I suggest taking a break first.
Here's some good advice:

Don't think we'd mind if the story went on a short hiatus. Better than a drastic drop in quality just to meet weekly demands. Just don't take too much time off or else some folks'll start losing interest.

Aww fuck, this is how it starts.

If you need too take a brake then take a brake from the deadlines. If you just put the story down then you run the risk of finding it hard to up again, and if you keep putting it off, waiting till the creative buzz comes back you run the risk of blinking only to see 8 months have passed and your comment box is filled with 'is this story dead' and 'MORE MORE MORE' comments.

You have to work through creative slums, but at the same time not force it to the point you yourself out. If deadlines are what the problem is then you can always just put it on hiatus for a month and give yourself that time to work on it in your own pace, without the pressure of the weekly deadline, and perceived expectations hanging over your head.

Personally, I'd rather wait a little bit then risk you risk pushing yourself, burning yourself out in the process, only ending up with something lackluster for your efforts that ultimately does nothing but put a dent in your will to write. That how a lot of the dead stories on this site wound up that way.

That or this is some devious plan to make the next arch look even better by lowering our expectations so it can outright surpasses them rather then it simply meeting them when those expectations are high.:pinkiegasp:

I'm just a little perturbed that you didn't send me that last chapter. You'd better be more consistent with gibbing mir das chaputars in da future, eh.

'Sides, you could always just exploit the readers by dropping some words down in a list, and reaping the ideas that had been sown for your own nefarious purposes via blog, and voila! Melting Pot of Plot activated! Just have those of us that help you with the story's readability and given advisory unto thee select the best looking one if you ever get torn between some of the ideas.

Just a thought. Readers come up with some suitably crazy shit that may or may not be of use. Like, for example, the notions of a romantic subplot betwixt Handy and Shortbeak. *hint-hint*

Just make sure you do post a new chapter next Monday my dear Handyman. You know how I get without them.

3276982 Oh for the love of...keep it together JBL.

3277047 Hmm... demanding, female and suspiciously familiar....

On the other news, you don't just 'demand' that author writes a chapter for the next week, he writes at his own god damn rate. You want author to take 4 year hiatus? then please, keep demanding that he writes within a week, because you're addicted to the story.

3277093 I suppose my joking was taken a bit too literal. Yeesh, people on edge today.

3277098 i know you were joking, because otherwise, you would be a complete asshole (which really isn't your style)

3277098 Plus, if you hadn't been joking, i would have been wrong about you not being asshole.

*gets back from work*

Holy what, suddenly comments.

Eh, I'll deal with it later, bed first.

Well, you could do an April fools type chapter to help you clear out the funk. Or set one in a dream. Then you can still write through it, but not have to worry as much about messing anything up. Or take a bit longer on this one, as some have suggested. Just don't go falling off the edge of the Earth.

Whatchu apologizing for? We got a chatper.

3276311 That and all the unneccessary sexposition. I'm sorry but the show had my attention at political intrigue, knights and dergans.

I don't care about the sex, give me dergans.

3276340 Historically that is a bad idea with me, deliberately taking breaks has killed projects for me in the past.

That or this is some devious plan to make the next arch look even better by lowering our expectations so it can outright surpasses them rather then it simply meeting them when those expectations are high. :pinkiegasp:

While I can say that this is not, in fact the case, it does sound like something I'd do. So you get points for that.

Getting rid of the deadlines I am not sure about because that's just asking to procrastinate.

3276490 Plot is rarely a problem with me, not are ideas, its just the wind goes out of my wings every now and again. Although I suppose a romantic subpl-wwwwaaaaaiiiiit a minute... You almost got me there.

3276954 Not to worry your pretty little head Shocks, I'll still get them out.

3277113 But falling off the edge of the Earth is like in my top ten favourite things to do!

3278327 Lack of comment replies, lack of pictures, lack of blog cypher metagame and my general much more sour attitude this past month.

3278816 Hooray! 10 more points and I win a novelty comb.

It's not so much getting rid of the deadlines, it's more about suspending them for a short time so you can let the story flow naturally without having arbitrary dates hanging over your head, as apposed to forcing it and risking a lackluster final product that will only hurt your will to write / outright burn you out.

I've seen a lot of good stories die that way.

If procrastination would be a problem, then I guess all I can do is hope that the slumping is just the work, work, talking and it will pass when you start writing and get into it.

3278816 Everyone deserves at least a little leeway.
