Genuinely wishing I had more time and motivation to write. Sometimes you'll get lucky. Mostly you'll be disappointed.

    Brief Update

So I do still come here with some regularity, and I do read all my messages and notices, if only to remind myself of a time I had something I really focused on and worked on, and the most common theme is "Is The Most Unlikely Places going to be finished?" The answer, as one might imagine, is complicated.

    Just so you know...

    Farewell, I guess.

So someone suggested to me that I should post a farewell note, regardless of the actual eventual result of the note in question. I think that makes sense, but I'm going to expand the eventual result--or so I hope--to some meaningful degree. Note I have been drinking, so the typos are a result of that. The sentiment is not.

    That moment...

...when you finally make a breakthrough on a scene you've been fighting for the past month. It's better than watching a new Rarity episode with a Tom Collins in your hand.

Okay, not quite that good, but close.

    Story: Last Winter

So I'd like to think everyone who is a fan of "The Most Unlikely Places" is also one of my followers, but considering TMUP has twice as many likes as I do, I recognize that's probably not the case. As a result, a lot of you may not have noticed that TMUP has a new spinoff in production:

Really? · 4:31pm May 14th, 2015

I try to be pretty accommodating to people's opinions, especially in the comments section of my stories. I try not to quash debate, even when it gets a touch heated, and I only step in when I think there's a chance for the discussion to take a vitriolic turn. But there is one thing I have asked people not to do, and I made it clear in two separate places--my blog and in response to some comments to the effect--and I've been ignored.

So I'm going to make it even more clear.

Starting today, I will be deleting every single comment that corrects my usage of the word "y'all". I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the corrections, I'm sick of the discussion, I'm sick of the high-horse self-aggrandizing disrespect I'm getting from people who are determined to cast a stylistic choice in an erroneous light. It's disheartening, it's defeating, and it's one of the reasons I occasionally load up Fimfic to write, then read some of my recent comments, and close the window. I'm sorry you don't agree with it. I'm sorry you think that being on the 60 side of a 60-40 debate makes you 100% right. I'm also sorry I have to treat you like a petulant child to make you stop, but that's what I'm going to do.

If you can't stop, I will block you. I don't have the will or the interest to deal with it any more. I'm tired, and I've just...I've had enough.

Folks are still doing that? Christ.

Look on the bright side, Kiro: you probably only need to block the one guy.

That's what people choose to comment on? Seriously??

Not the actual story or the characters? Man, they'd really hate me, then. To this day, I maintain that the plural of "y'all" is "all y'all".

I can't believe that people are so petty that this y'all thing is the only thing they care about. On the bright side, if this is the worst thing there whining about then your doin a good job of writing. It's still stupid though.

People just enjoy being jerks., specially when there isn't much others can do to stop them. I remember this one time i wrote in the description of the story that i wasn't very good with descriptions, and someone replied to that saying that i should just stop writing or kill myself.

Seriously? Sheesh. Well, I'm glad to see you're still here anyway =|

People are seriously giving you grief for writing in a dialect? Wow. Well, more power to you Kiro. Sounds like a really stupid thing harp on. Don't let it bring you down.

Wait, this is a thing? People arguing about the use of "y'all"? That is hilarious :pinkiehappy:

jxj

wow, people are still going on about that? Well, you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm the kind of person that would deliberately make my grammar bad in response to something like this, but that's just me.

C'mon man I'm starting to itch.

No, it's all y'alls un.

Anyways, yeah, this looks like a situation where deleting comments is exactly the right thing to do. Don't even read the whole thing if it bugs you.

Alright, Imma toss in my 2 cents, since most of the people bitchin' and moanin' ain't from the South, anyways:

THERE IS NO WRONG WAY TO USE Y'ALL. Shit, I've used y'all when talking about a single [One(1)] person.

Source: Born and raised in the South, ya damn Yankees.

I randomly decided to check in, after so long without an update on several fics I watch.... Saw the beginning of this blog, and thought "Oh god! Someone really screwed the pooch in comments and the writer jumped ship!"

Then I saw the whole "y'all" aspect, and just kinda face-desked. People get nit-picky over the most silly things, I swear. It's a representation of a dialect, fictitious or otherwise, there is no exact "proper" regardless. >.< Reminds me of some people that get angry in older games with text-based dialogue having accents in it. How else are they supposed to show it!?

Do what ya need to do for our sanity, man.

Just saw this blog. Now that this is your final say, I'll shut up about it. And 3069049 can grow up if he's capable of it. [yes I'll apologize to you about it. But at least I'm upfront about saying, "you should block that guy" is a dick move and uncalled for.]

Anywho, sorry if my replies got out of hand to the point of ruining your mood. Honestly, while it is a pet peeve of mine. I am not shy of telling everyone I know you have the best ScootAdoption story out there. And while yeah, I can and have at places pointed out where it was said in the dictionary. I never meant it to be something that ruined your enjoyment of writing, nor the story you were telling. So from here on out. I'll drop it.

Hell I even said in the 4 times I read your fic [and soon as in after this and the other blog I'm replying to. 5th re-read (and some day I'll probably hit my 10th it's that good.] that I freaking love your story. It never gets old, and it truly is a wonderfully written work. I usually write and leave it at that, but I have a problem where I reply to something. Someone disagrees ... and it does get out of hoof [usually they escalate it, and it grows to something more than it should have been.]. I'll try ignoring others in the future where your work is concerned. Since it is one of the few works I highly look forward to, and have enjoyed the very moment I found the fic years ago.

3069049

That's rather backhooved and passive aggressive. And super dickish. But I expect that from you. And now, I'm totally dropping the subject before it turns into a flame war, or something that'd ruin the writers mood, and I'm going to enjoy this guys stories. He seriously doesn't need antagonizing BS.

3069073

In my defense. I just make a note of it, and leave it at that. Then other get all jerkfaced about it. I reply. They get more anal. I show grammatical proof that I was right. With many sources [dictionary and from other southerners]. They get even more rude. I retaliate by countering. They get rude, and I retaliate by being an arrogant douche until they drop it.

But as is. I seriously love the fic, and I've said so every read through [hitting my fifth], and tell everyone that it's one of the best fics out there [and greatest ScootAdopt fic of all time. Seriously this guy is a-freaking-mazing]. Seriously, I did apologize, and if there were more than me out there on the 60-40 debate, that sucks. And I seriously hated the fact that a stupid thing, like me pointing out something grew big enough that it needed a blog to tell people to STFU on it. But I am at least adult enough (and not intentionally a jerk) to say that it wasn't my intent to siderail one of the best written fics of all time.

Then you have peeps like JetStream that needlessly antagonize others for trolling, and to get a negative reaction because others don't agree with them. Which is seriously uncool and ruins things for the OP as well [can't remember how many fics I liked that were ruined by that petty BS.]. Especially since my only intent was spotting something and taking time out of my day to point it out. Leave some comment on how Kiro's 9/10ths as Hugh Jackman [well equivalent to that], or compliment the story / comment on something. And leaving it at that. [And now that Kiro's said drop the subject. I'll drop it because I don't want to make his life harder.]

As for those who told you to kill yourself, tell them 'to move out of their mother's basement and get a life. The sun probably won't kill them.' [hell, everypony start somewhere in writing. Noneed to be d-tards about it, and I give my condolences that you had to go through that BS. You're still writing right?]
