Genuinely wishing I had more time and motivation to write. Sometimes you'll get lucky. Mostly you'll be disappointed.

    Brief Update

So I do still come here with some regularity, and I do read all my messages and notices, if only to remind myself of a time I had something I really focused on and worked on, and the most common theme is "Is The Most Unlikely Places going to be finished?" The answer, as one might imagine, is complicated.

    Just so you know...

...don't get used to it. I can't make promises.

    Farewell, I guess.

So someone suggested to me that I should post a farewell note, regardless of the actual eventual result of the note in question. I think that makes sense, but I'm going to expand the eventual result--or so I hope--to some meaningful degree. Note I have been drinking, so the typos are a result of that. The sentiment is not.

    That moment...

...when you finally make a breakthrough on a scene you've been fighting for the past month. It's better than watching a new Rarity episode with a Tom Collins in your hand.

Okay, not quite that good, but close.

    Story: Last Winter

So I'd like to think everyone who is a fan of "The Most Unlikely Places" is also one of my followers, but considering TMUP has twice as many likes as I do, I recognize that's probably not the case. As a result, a lot of you may not have noticed that TMUP has a new spinoff in production:

Brief Update · 6:38pm Oct 19th, 2017

So I do still come here with some regularity, and I do read all my messages and notices, if only to remind myself of a time I had something I really focused on and worked on, and the most common theme is "Is The Most Unlikely Places going to be finished?" The answer, as one might imagine, is complicated.

In the short term, I'd have to say no, it's probably not going to be finished in any time frame brief enough that most of you will still be pony fans when I pen the last word. If you're hanging on tenterhooks waiting to see the next fifteen chapters magically appear in a month, you'll be disappointed, and I hate that, but it's just a reality.

In the long term, I'm going to keep saying yes, if only because I really do want--and intend--to finish it. This story means a lot to me, and even though it's massively out of step with the current canon, I really like the characters and the content, so I still write it to myself in my head whenever I feel bored. I just don't usually find the energy to put that down in text.

I have--like a lot of avid pony fans--fairly substantial depression, and while it's mostly controlled, it doesn't usually grant me the freedom to do all the things I like to do, and as writing takes a lot of energy and focus (and the result is often anxiety-inducing and never really what I was hoping for), writing tends to take a backseat. It also usually takes place at work, and my current work has stressed me to the point where I mostly spend all day waiting for it to end so I can go home, and that doesn't leave a lot of mental fortitude for creation.

The upshot of this is that what I plan/want and what I can do aren't often in sync. When they are, you get a chapter. There's a chapter currently in the works, in fact. But most of the time, I just let time slide past me without doing anything with it.

Some people have expressed interest in finishing the story for me, and while I encourage unique creation based on the existing content (continuations, spinoffs, spoofs, etc.), I'm not comfortable sharing the rest of the plot for someone else to interpret. If you have your own idea of where the story might go, feel free to make it happen--just provide credit and links back to the original. If you want to know how the story ends, well, buckle up, cuz it might be a while. Of course, that's not to say I won't eventually give in and post a cypher specifically detailing the rest of the story someday...

You're still alive! Thank God, Zeus, the Buddha, or whichever higher power you prefer.

Hey take your time life comes first. And hey we've waited this long what's a little longer.

Honestly. Many readers will wait so don't worry

But maibe yo should think about anoter job not for the story but for you
A life in stress is not worth
Think in your health

This is all I needed to know. Now its time to wait a couple of years... Or more, either way I will continue to wait for this story to be updated. This is exactly what I have been wanting to hear. So take your time and update whenever you want to. I know that a lot of people here will wait as well.

Awaiting more eagerly and patiently. Thanks for the update!

I'd just like to thank you for keeping us-the-fans somewhat appraised of your progress and intentions. It's a courtesy that means a lot.

^ These.

Seriously though, thanks for the update and I hope life eventually gets better for you.

Making another comment to say that I look forward to the year this gets done. I'll honestly be a fan of the site and the fics on here for as long as the site remains a thing. Hopefully for a long, long time. So when it does eventually get done, it'll be an amazing close to a wonderful side-arc in my life.

Hope you do continue it, it's been more than a year though so I can't expect much. The show might be running on it's last legs and it makes me sad to know all of these beautiful stories and this website will come to an end someday- for good. I hope to at least get to experience the end of yours before then.

I doubt this site will disappear when the Gen 5 (Aka. Gen "HFS! What have you done!") where my default setting will be
derpicdn.net/img/view/2020/3/1/2287479.png comes rolling about.

This story has many, many more tales to tell, and Kiro has some great shit. They just need to remember, don't worry about canon. You have an AU, and the last 3 Seasons were shit. The last season was a cluttered, mess of plotholes, idiosyncrasies, and insanity. You're AU is much better than that. So, keep at it.

Yeah but this story is almost certainly dead.

5247043
Possibly, but one can hold out for hope.

In the long term, I'm going to keep saying yes, if only because I really do want--and intend--to finish it.

I'll do my best to stick around in that case. I'm looking forward to see it continued at some point in the future.
