Think we've got rather different surfing habits, buddy.
When I'm writing I usually have three-four windows open. One with the Gdoc and resources, about two-three tabs for simpler stories, and six-eight more more complicated stories like SA.
One with Youtube and music, if normally just a playlist.
Oh, and one window with research. That one varies rather heavily, but anything from four-five tabs to... think my 'record' was nearly 40 something? I was hammering the last details of the FTL 'drive' in SA down, and had to check and double check a lot of numbers. Depends quite a bit on how complicated the story I'm writing is.
And that's if I'm not side-tracked and have even more windows open with various distractions.
But yeah, I'm rather glad I have a decent if aging gaming PC, because my surfing habits have actually caused older computers to lock-up a few times!

My laptop can handle about five tabs before it decides to give me a big 'fuck you' and seize up. I see why you need so many tabs, considering the requirements of some fics that need some research. However if you can count my iPod on YT as a tab, even if it's not actually on my laptop then I'll have three open right now.
Also, you never told me what was on that second window you were hiding.

Eh, wasn't much. Just the 'left overs' from importing chapter 4 and the codex to FIMfic, plus a few last minute additions/changes.
I just got so excited seeing SA in the feature box I near hammered the 'print screen' button, otherwise I would have cleaned up a bit first.

I got a story on the feature box for a grand total of five minutes once. Don't know if I still have the print screen, though. I wen't absolutely crazy when it just suddenly appeared up there, I may have caused a small earthquake with the explosion of lunacy that was the resulting house party.
