    Upped to Mature

The patron requested it, so Blue Wedding Belles is now rated Mature, and will proceed under that banner. Figured I should post an alert about that.

My bad · 4:55am Mar 11th, 2015

I've never seen such a strong reaction before, especially of the negative variety. My apologies, Dangerous Sparkle readers. I've hit the last two chapters with the retcon red marker of doom and redid it to remove the objectionable materials and out-of-character drama that likely didn't belong in Dangerous Sparkle.

Do feel free to call me out on my hijinks in the future. I may not always agree, but I am listening.

In the meanwhile, AJ's saving me a mug of that cider and it's looking kind of good.

I'm fine with their being something between Dash and AJ, but Twilight and Dash sleeping together wasn't exactly the best option, all things considered

2867142 S'all good, how do you like the redone chapters?

Huh. I honestly didn't have a problem with the scene. Not sure what that says about me. :applejackunsure:

2867298 Too much surprise sex in an otherwise pretty clean fic, setting up ships where none existed for quite some time. It is understandable, looking back on it.

Guess I'll have to reread them. I didn't have a problem with the way it went, but I'm quite a bit different in my tolerances than most people. I keep forgetting that things I find acceptable or harmless isn't so for everyone else. Always confuses me when it happens. :rainbowhuh:

2867609 It's ok, I'm a filthy person when I let my mind wander that way. All of Fimfic is better for my not writing an actual clop fic.

2867611 Not sure if I'd agree with "better," rather than "different." I've read bad (like, horribad) clop, and I've read some really good clop (like, need a crate of tissues, a doll, and a few toys this is so good). At the close of business, it's all the same: the writer had an idea they had to get out there, and a reader saw that idea and either said "yea" or "nay."

I just happen to lean towards "yea" more often than not, simply out of respect of the writer's time and effort (as I'm an aspiring writer myself). It takes a special kinda of Cutie Mark inducing talent at being really bad to make me place a story in Wallbanger territory.

2867299 For what it's worth, I don't think the issue was of the idea of something like that happening. Rather, I think that the issue was that it was handled indelicately, both in terms of the characters involved and in how it didn't seem to fit with what had been presented in that story.

I think I was the most negative of the responses... so I should probably say something.

Ultimately, I think I agree with 2867699, though. It's not that this was a topic, but that it was handled a little indelicately. Of course, it was also just starting... but I think that this topic would either be treated very seriously or like a silly interlude which, while this story has comic relief, I think would be jarring for what is usually considered a fairly serious topic.

I tend to take these sorts of things seriously, though, and you have examples in this very thread of those that do not... I think "Do feel free to call me out on my hijinks in the future. I may not always agree, but I am listening." is the right attitude for that kind of thing. Inevitably readers will have conflicting opinions on your story, including ones you don't agree with, so ultimately it has to be down to you which side has a valid point, if any.
