It’s Thanksgiving, and I’ve gone full sap · 6:55pm Nov 27th, 2014

So for all you uncultured, non-'Muricans that aren't aware, today is Thanksgiving Day. It's a time to watch football and eat a lot of food.

And also give thanks, I guess.

Originally, I wasn't going to post anything today. Blogging isn't a thing I normally do, and sappy stuff even less so. But I already have a couple sappy blogs coming up on the 30th and the 1st, so I answered the time-old question statement of “Go hard or go home” with “Go hard.”

This is about to be a pretty long list of people, so let’s get started.

What, you thought there wasn't going to be Sunset Shimmer? Do you even know me?

Sheepdog136 and Fenderfoal – Way back in the days of yore, in the early spring of 2012, these two guys convinced me to watch the show. Fast forward a few weeks later, and we’re getting together to watch the season 2 finale. Unfortunately, neither of them visits this site anymore, but they did do a lot in jump-starting my activity here. Sheepdog actually recommended interesting stories while I competed with Fenderfoal to see who could have more words read. By the way, I really miss that feature. I also made a deal with Fenderfoal: I’d read a bunch of the stupid OctaScratch stories he reads, and in return, he’d read a bunch of real stories. I actually went and read them. He didn't read anything I gave him. I was tortured. He just read more OctaScratch. I miss complaining to him about all that :(
So, yeah, if it weren't for these two guys, I probably wouldn't be here. So next time you want to punch me, punch them instead!

The Descendant – If I had to pick anyone on this site to idolize, this guy is easily #1 on the list. It’s not even close.
You watch him? He thanks you. You favorite one (or more) of his stories? He thanks you. Personally. On your page. You comment on one of his stories? He replies. And it’s not like he’s a small time author, either. He’s got over 2k followers. And he still is able to keep up with all the new comments, favorites, and follows. He is one of the nicest people on this site, and he’s just as swell in person. He’s an all-around awesome guy, and he’s most of the reason I comment on every single chapter of every single story I read. If he can personally thank anyone who follows/comments/favorites, I can at least comment on every chapter. I feel like it’s the least I can do.
So it’s my turn to thank you for being an awesome guy.

Present Perfect – While Descy was inspiring me to comment everywhere just by being awesome, PP was actively prodding me into doing so. See, there was this forum for Ohio Bronies. There was a section for fanfiction, and I was naturally drawn to it. I started posting up what I was reading and occasionally giving thoughts on the stuff. That wasn't enough for PP. He wanted thoughts on everything. So I complied. And while this didn’t influence my commenting habits nearly as much as Descy did, PP did a lot more to influence my early efforts at reviewing things. So between the two of them, I developed from a pretty passive reader into something much closer to where I am today: frequent commenter and occasional reviewer.
Nowadays, I pester PP with things he should read for RCL. And I complain to him about Cafeteria Control. How in the world did you like that…?

Kaldanor – This is another guy I met through that Ohio Bronies thing. I think there were maybe a grand total of three people besides me who actually bothered with fanfiction on that site, and they all turned out to be pretty cool guys. Rael Kal here is probably the first actual friend I made through ponies? I think? Maybe? Yeah, that sounds right. It’s been pretty great to just have a guy to talk to about the stuff you’re reading. Not even the specifics, but general trends, problems, and sometimes even good things. Talking about stories together is always better than complaining alone. So long as you don't tell me all the music I listen to is bad, I think we're good.
Also
ONE DAY™

ObCom – Seeking out bad stories to laugh at them wasn't actually a thing I did. I preferred to read, you know, good stories. Then we discovered Fluttershy's Guardian. Oh boy. That jump-started a train that never stopped rolling. While I continued to look for similar sorts of stories here on Fimfiction, ObCom was in a creative writing class. He took one again in the spring semester. For both semesters, he gave me horror stories about what people in those classes passed off as “creative writing.”
So thank you for jump-starting that train. It's been a wonderful ride.

Screened Plum – AND SO IT BEGINS
Once upon a time, in a Fimfiction many updates ago, stories took forever to get published. The front page would remain the same for days. And in this wasteland of No-New-Stories, a great terror emerged: Return of the changeling’s (re-edit). It is here that I met the one they call Plumb. We attempted to convince Rawhavoc that his story was terrible, but to no avail. The argument raged on until Poultron came by and nuked the comments. We tried again. And again, the arguments ended with a Poultron nuke. We tried a third and final time. Rawhavoc refused to see the light, so we finally left.
Next thing we knew, we helped to co-found the Train Wreck Explorers (the aforementioned train that never stopped rolling, by the way) and everything spiraled down from there. Throw BP into the mix, and you have a group of three guys who ended up doing everything together. Co-found and run WRITE? Yep. Join SA? Yep. Try and save TECS? Yep. And while Plum is a horrible person for getting to 200 followers before me, I can't think of any other guys I'd rather have backing me up. You and BP are the best.
May misfortune never fall upon you. Hue hue hue

Sierra_Seven_ – I know we’ve had our “recent” differences, but there's no way you’re not on this list. Co-founding the TWE and helping you run it was a pretty great experience. I was honestly pretty upset that you didn't make the transition over to WRITE. I felt we like we lost a pretty valuable member of the old TWE crew. And while I don’t think I’ll ever forget the crap you pulled a couple months later, I’d like to think we can finally get over that, yeah? Let’s let bygones be bygones and remember the good ol' times. Friends again?

Pilate – And also the Noble Jury, I guess.
So there's this story called Austraeoh. It's pretty good. It updated daily. I catch up to where the story is, and there's this guy Pilate also commenting a bunch. We start discussing the story. This carries over to Steam, then to Skype, and suddenly, the Noble Jury is a thing. It's been pretty great to have such a stress-free chat to fall back on. The haven we created more than two (two!) years ago is still exactly that: a haven.
And that brings me to this:

Our love will last forever!

Ponky – There's really not much to say other than that I'm really looking forward to you coming back. Only two and a half-ish more months! Man, it's hard to believe it's been that long, and it's equally hard to believe it's such a short time 'til you're back.

shortskirtsandexplosions – Words are not sufficient. Have this instead:

MidnightDancer – Best frienemies for life! :yay:
I'm still not sure how we survived Bronycon in the same room. We probably should have killed each other by the end of day one or something. Oh well. I guess we'll just have to continue to tolerate each other for the rest of time

OtterMatt – I really thought we had a good thing going there at the end of TWE. That thread had new life, and the reviews were coming out pretty quick. And they were good, too. At least we were able to channel all that reviewing output into WRITE. I don't think I could have asked for a better Admin team, though: You, Plum, BP, and I. And we've come so far, too. From a group born out of the ashes of the fallen TWE, we've become one of the go-to groups for EqD to send rejected authors. We have the likes of Pascoite reviewing for us. We've come such a long way, and it's a shame personal issues have kept you from the site for so long. Sometimes life gets in the way, but that doesn't make it any less of a shame to have seen you go.

Burraku_Pansa – Just over two years ago, we, TWE, started talking to you guys at SALT. I'm really happy that we did. You've been a great friend ever since we co-founded WRITE, and together with Plum, we're pretty inseparable.
Unlike Plum, though, you can have all the misfortune.

Wanderer D – I'm still not sure why, but one day in late January of 2013, you decided to invite me to join SA. That meant a lot to me, more than you could have known at the time and more than I can properly explain right now. Maybe the next two blogs will be able to do that? In any event, thanks for believing in me. Or thinking I was worthy of SA. Or whatever it is that prompted you to send that invitation.
Also, this is why I was looking for those logs.

Seattle’s Angels – You guys – alex, Pav, Sock, Core, Casca, BP, Plum, ambion, Raz, Red, and Plebeian – are the best. No, seriously. You are. SA is pretty much home. You guys are the best bunch of jerks and butts I could ever hope to work with.
Love you guys.

MongolianFoodHoarder, Malfrost, and willtngl – For whatever reason, we decided it would be a good idea to room together last year. I'm glad we did. It was a lot of fun, even though our apartment sucked. I still can't get over the complete lack of counter space. Absolutely the worst. Here's to hoping I can come down and visit you guys more often! (and not get towed in the process...)

Obselescence – All I did was mention I was interested. Apparently that was enough for you. You added me into what became The Last Roundup, and it's been a pretty great ride so far. I've always loved reading, and I firmly believe everyone else should, too. This has been a pretty great outlet to recommend stories to other people so that they too can read. So no matter what it was that led to the quick, "in you go" decision to throw me in, thank you.

FringePioneer – So for my first, oh, 7-8 months on the site, I was reading new stories pretty much non-stop. Of the 480 stories I've read, about 370 or so were read during that time. Then I just kinda stopped reading things up until Rainbow Rocks came out. Man, there was something about that movie. And whatever that something was, it rekindled that desire to read lots of things all the time. Since then, I've read more than 100 stories and counting. A lot of that was jump-started by you, recommending stories that featured best human (and almost best pony). I know I've said it before, but thank you for that. I love reading, and you helped me renew my obsession addiction enthusiasm for reading pony things.

SkycatcherEQ – I know I joke about it often enough, but I'm also often not exactly lying about it, either. I don't think I'm a great editor. I'm not the timeliest, first of all; procrastination is my middle name or something. I'm often not able to properly communicate why I think a direction you're taking the story is bad, or why this character development wasn't handled very well. I have a hard time accurately pointing out some of the finer details of when you should show vs. when you should tell. Yet, in spite of all that, you still seem to think I'm worth having around to help edit your story. And on top of that, you thought I was even worth asking in the first place (I'm actually not quite sure what prompted that, either). That said, it's been a pleasure watching your outlines and notes become sentences and paragraphs, and watching those grow into a cohesive story. I look forward to all future chapters (and future stories?)!

So there you have it. A hopefully-comprehensive , almost chronological, list of people on this site I'm especially thankful for. I'm pretty sure I got everyone.

Good lord, never again. Too much sap for me.
Fun fact: This was over 2k words. If only I could translate this into horse words...

Well, regarding why I approached you for editing input, I had set eyes maybe twice in 2 years on fimfiction before I created that Messenger piece with Sunset and Twi. At that point, with a bit of author interest generated by that artwork, I read a few things here, then a few more things. And in all of those things, I saw your input on punctuation and over-tell-i-ness and other general bits that indicated a wide perspective.

There were also a few cases of our back and forth replies on reddit. So when I decided to actually try my hand at writing, it seemed worth a shot to see if you'd have an interest in offering said perspective to my EQG fic. And then from there... yep, there we have it. Thanks again. ;)

Uncultured non-'Murican here.
Today I've learned that the true meaning of Thanksgiving Day is, and has always been about Sunset Shimmer bringing you the foodstuffs. I declare this holiday as good stuff, and Abe Lincoln as a cool guy.
Happy Thanksgiving! :raritywink:

2620501 You were the right choice, and I'll always stand by that decision.

As much as I might try to argue otherwise
As much as I might try and say I'm no good at reviewing

Holy crap, man. That means the world to me.
You're still the worst :3

>implying SA love isn't personal love

I may have given thanks over at /r/SunsetShimmer already, but I figure it's only fair that I also give thanks to you specifically since you dedicated a small passage giving thanks to me specifically. So thank you, Csquared08; thank you for motivating me to create an account here and serve as curator of many of those works pertaining to our Dear Lady the One True Princess and to the sirens.

As Aria would say, you're the worst. :raritywink:

And no. You're the worst. :pinkiehappy:

May misfortune never fall upon you. Hue hue hue

Lel.

Unlike Plum, though, you can have all the misfortune.

Aw, crap.

It has been great fun (in hindsight, if nothing else) doing all those group things with you and Plum, C. u bubby. Here's to misfortune raining down upon our very work ethics.
