Equestrian Earth - Which Map do you Guys Prefer? · 6:28pm Nov 19th, 2014

This flimsy but "canon" map of the game world,

Or this one? (full size)

Because I really like the 2nd map. There's a whole lot more space for me to work with. Hell there's space to the left of the Griffin Kingdom that I can use for Magistrum (my OC [Original Country] and Mareasia is Ib'Xian, albeit not as big. Although the world of Equestria and Beyond is a lot more smaller in scale than the first map I made. Equestria was going to be the size of North America, which is roughly 9.54 million sq miles (24.71 million kmĀ²). E&B's map is teeny weeny. America would swallow it up! The problem of why I see size problem as an issue is simple: see those oceans? Those are literally the sizes of our Great Lakes. LAKES. (Maybe not literally, but you see my point? Compare the two maps and measure the Antlertic Ocean to all of the USA's Great Lakes.)
So yeah, I guess I'm gonna have to adjust the size scale. Maybe 500 Miles instead of the 100 Mile scale. That would make Equestria just a little bit bigger than the USA, but not USA and Canada combined.

There's no Saddle Arabia either or Crystal Empire either, so I'm just gonna have to use my imagination and make some changes to the map.
I think Saddle Arabia can replace CAMELU, and as for the Crystal Empire, it's beyond my imagination except getting rid of a few frozen settlements above Germaneigh to make room for it.

Other than that, there's no problem if I use the E&B map. I might have to add a few locations though such as Aeroslida and Sherpwood. Sherpwood would be easy since there's plenty of unnamed forests on the map. I might need help adding the cloud icons though, since there seems to be a special one for cities like Cloudsdale. It's like a tiny blue Skype cloud icon (with out the white 'S').

2nd one.

It has more character

That 2nd one. So much...space. @-@

That second one is better, but at the same time IT TOOK THE NAME OF MY HEADCANON WORLD!!!

eh, not your fault, plus it looks good. I might be a fan of the first one, but whoever made the second did a good job too.

A modified version of the second one.
(Adjusting the size of land masses a bit so Equestria isn't so... tiny...)

I'd say the second map. It looks more interesting, looks like a more realistic continent map, and therefore doesn't look like a reverse Pangea. Also, it has a place called "The Echo", I wonder if I rule there?:pinkiecrazy: Anything that has a place called the Echo has to be superior, well, aside from maybe a map that has a place called "The Glow".

Rush and Pony on!

I'd prob say the 2nd one is a better option.

Random question for you; where the hell do you find the time to do all these skill layouts and map-making for a game that will probably never exist? You're not even getting paid!

I like the 2nd one but its kinda confusing and some other big areas but the 1st one is a standard map and is fairly simple. So go with the 2nd if you can use all the space but use the first if you want it to be less complex.

Your map actually. E&B is so out of date and you would have to make so many changes that it just isn't worth it.

For spells, abilities, and skills: half of it is something I created from scratch, half of it inspired.
Coming up with Classes is the most difficult as I have to give them a combat style and a name to match. The naming is the most difficult part.
The first map came from this world-generating site, but the second map is something vikonaut created for his story Where the World Ends, which is still a W.I.P.
First chapter isn't even out yet. I assume he's still busy with the map.
As for the time I'm getting to do all this - I'm still pretty young and jobless. Other than community college, my life is pretty free.
And I can only wish that I can be paid to do what I love.

I'll go with the second one. It has a lot of blank space, but I get the feeling I won't use all of it for Equestrian Earth. Even if the fic is going to be running long, I'm not sure if I want the Twilight crew to be scouring all over the world. That would take literal years to finish the story (not that my hiatuses are already prolonging it).

I'm willing to put in the effort. Also, why do you think it's outdated? I know the last revision of the map was 3 years ago, but it's still good to use.

2605362 Three years means no Crystal Empire, pre-Discord, etc. There is a lot we learned about the nature of the world in those three years, the map is out of date.

I enjoy either or, but I do see the point of the second map giving you more space to work with, and that does sound like it would give your already good story more room to stretch out.

I say you should use the second one.
