Rising Shadows 8 + Something New and Weird off to the Pre-Readers · 11:27pm Sep 3rd, 2014
A new Lunar Rebellion chapter is getting looked over. Yay.
However, you guys probably wonder what the "new and weird" thing is. Well, it all started when myself, Comma-Kazie, and Ponibius were talking about Equestria Girls. One thing led to another, and what emerged was the following short story:
Why Do I Like Horse Women?
Synopsis: Flash Sentry has a breakdown upon realizing that the last two girls he found attractive were actually transformed ponies, and begins questioning his sexuality.
Yeah. This might be a thing that exists. An EQG-verse fic with Flash-POV. It's pretty short and stupid. People who hate Flash will enjoy his suffering, and people who like Flash (I've heard they exist) will be happy to see him showing up in a story where he's not ritually dismembered for being a waifu-stealer.
I don't feel strongly one way or another towards Flash but I'm excited for that story. It sounds fun :)
Then you should take a look at one of the Rainbow Rocks Sneak Peeks
Flash sees the girls in semi-pony- form and is all…
Flash (with super desperate happy face on): Hey is Twilight back yet?
Pinkie: Did you just desperately ask about this girl you only knew for three days and probably jack off to in the bathroom in front of your now super nice and remorseful ex-girlfriend that you apparently don’t care about at ALL?
Rainbow: Go away Flash!
Rarity (to Sunset) : What ever did you see in him darling?
Sunset: Yeah um…I was only dating him to up my popularity.
More Sunset: What? Oh come on, I’m a horse…and age-wise I’m probably in my late twenties. Do you honestly think that some teenage monkey in the middle of puberty with zits on his face is attractive in the least? What kind of freak do you people take me for?
I look forward to reading this.
Just that snippet of description has me in stitches
Poor Flash, poor, poor Flash. And unless he sneaks through to Equestria to off and replace pony Flash he probably doesn't have the slightest chance with Twilight. Being a Princess and all, she just doesn't have time in her schedule for an AU boyfriend other than a two hour movie once a year or so.

Actually, that sneak peek was what started the conversation which led to the story.

Pretty much where I am on him. Mostly because as written in the film he was so bland and generic it's hard to find much to care about. It doesn't help that other than his coat color he's basically a carbon copy of Shining Armor (which is kinda creepy).

Hey man don't insult Shiny like that!
Read the comic, he was the nerdy guy that got the hot girl because he was nice and all the other students backed him up at the dance
Flash was the creepy stalker weirdo that just seemed to follow Twilight around constantly and popped up to save the day only after she got in trouble so he could try and get in her pants, or skirt, or...princess gown dress thing that horses wear.
LMplotO! That is frikkin' genius! looking forward to it!
Brad made it canon that Twilight Sparkle is attracted to human guys. That excuses a great many sins in my book.
This should be fun.

I use the phrase "under her tail" in my fanon as the exact analogue of our "in her pants" -- given that Ponies almost never wear pants.

Kinda to be expected, actually, if you look at the song "Big Brother Best Friends Forever." Shining Armor's her male ideal, so she'd be attracted to a stallion who was similar (but not identical) to him. Her alternative male role model would of course be Night Light, but she never talks about him.

Mentioning that song in this context just reminds me of Friendship is Witchcraft's take on it.

Which is never a good thing

You missed, I think, the creepier implication which occurred to me as soon as I posted the earlier. Why are Twilight's parents such a seeming non-presence in her life? This is odd, even granted that she has responsibilities elsewhere. After all, it's been established that it's pretty easy to travel between Canterlot and Ponyville.
Has something come between them and Twilight? The fact that Twilight doesn't talk about it isn't odd -- part of being gentry (noble in your universe) is that you keep the family's dirty laundry from showing. And Twilight has no pressing reason to tell her friends.

Yeah, Ponibius has been having a lot of fun looking at the oddities in Twilgiht's family life. Though really, none of the Mane 6 do much with their parents. At least Twilight's have actually been established as existing. Going off what we've seen in the show about the Mane 6 families:
No information about her family or lack thereof.
No mention, though it's hinted they're dead. Plenty of extended family, though.
Saw a pony who was probably her father in one episode.
One non-speaking appearance.
Multiple non-speaking appearances.
The only ones who've actually gotten a proper scene dedicated to them, including dialogue.
Judging by that, I'd say, the FiM writers just don't care about the Mane 6's parents.
I'd also say that part of it is Celestia pretty clearly occupies a maternal-esque role for Twilight. Really, the show seems to like putting the princesses in the family roles for Twilight. I'm halfway convinced that the only reason Shining Armor is Twilight's brother was to let them make Cadance a literal older sister (in-law) rather than just a figurative one.
I say boo for skipping LR. I like that story.
