HEY. The Night is Passing, now in musical form! Come listen! ALSO The Night is Passing Extras · 4:22pm Sep 2nd, 2014

THE APOSTATE--MUSIC BY MIXOLYDIAN GREY

So... my friend Mix made this for me, and I nerded out a ton. I wanted those of you reading TNIP to be able to listen too! This is sort of a soundtrack/soundscape of sorts for the first chapter of the story! It's an interesting and fairly dynamic little piece, with a lot of range of emotion and even style. (If you love prog rock and metal, you'll love the middle section!) Strings, guitars, pianos, everything is in here. Please, please check this out. IT's AMAZING. I was completely floored, and those who have read the first chapter of Night, I think, will totally be able to agree with me that this fits perfectly with the opening scenes of Twilight and Co's long journey west/north. LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN LOVE LOVE LOVE DESU.

Also, I've been meaning to show you guys some PICTURES. Mainly this one.

It's Captain and TRADEWINDS. Tradey's the most beloved of the OCs in TNIP so far by the editing peeps (if she dies Razed will probably puzzlemurder me) and I likes my little stereotypical russia horse muchly. Captain is grumpy because he's lame and hasn't had much screen time.

Next, a crude map of the action of Chapter 18 , namely the battle of Morningvale. Imagine this drawn in the dirt by Ice Storm (named changed from Ice Shine for a lot of reasons). The white lines represent entrenchments or proposed lines of defense. The white dot is Castle Watch. The X is Morningvale itself. Black dots are enemy troop movements or possible/projected enemy troop movements. (So you can see that he was wrong about the warrens. So far.) The roman numerals represent stages in a fighting retreat, more or less. IV is up in the mountains, at the Iron Gate itself, the one that leads back to Canterlot's highest tier, the Celestial Tier. Think of this map as a physical topography?

Finally, just for fun, the map I've been using for my own purposes as far as the Empire is concerned. Rarity's party encountered Shining Armor west of the mountain outcroppings in the south of the map, not that far over the border. This map has some similarities with the maps I used for the PonyTales tabletop roleplaying campaign I DM'd over skype for awhile, which my editor q97randomguy was in and which a LOT of the ideas/lore of TNIP was sort of "test run". Fort North was actually a place the party visited, and the Mitou were enemies they fought. Randomguy remembers that battle. It was one of my best moments as a game master. That was a FUN encounter~ Poor Lunar Rangers. (The fort in our campaign was actually an Equestrian fort.)

finally pictures of randomness

(best ship best ship rah rah rah)

And this one is actually related to The Night is Passing, as Applejack does indeed possess a pipe in the story and has smoked it like twice now? She really needs to find a tabacconist in the West or Twilight is going to kill her chill, brah.

Godspeed, y'all.

This is hat I get for waiting until the story is done before I pick it up again (and possibly for a blind live read). All of this cool stuff pops up for it and I see some OCs that I havent met yet. And I love good OCs. They are always like a new friend that I haven't met yet. :pinkiehappy:

Neat stuff. I like, I like. The soundtrack works well, though it's over in far less time than I could have read the chapter in. Still, evocative.

Just implying killing Tradey... Sharpening knife now.

Holy shit TNIP is, like, turning into a thing.

Damn, maybe I should, like, read it one of these days... :raritycry:

2423099 it has always been a thing silly

Fort North was actually a place the party visited, and the Mitou were enemies they fought. Randomguy remembers that battle.

I almost died in that battle. A Mitou nearly flattened me, and I only survived through the superequine abilities of our medic, who totally saved my life (then went on to bring me even closer to death than before, but that's another story). "Harm nopony" didn't really apply to the Mitou, so our medic rammed a gas-powered air-skiff into a ten-meter-tall abomination, totally killing it dead.

That was a FUN encounter~

When one takes "terrifying" or "paranoia-inducing" for one's definition of fun, I would agree.

Ah… memories.

2423882 No but like, it's a big thing now. YOU HAVE YOUR FANMUSIC. Let that sink in for a moment.
