    Author update!

I'm editing stuff! But also incredibly dried out of writing power atm. I'll get going again soon, but just bear with me for a bit. I'm publishing a chapter of XCOM today, then start on the daily writing (not publishing) again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, always remember:

    Remembering Koji Wada

Like every year, I like to remember the man/legend responsible for the theme songs of one of my favorite shows of all time on the anniversary of his death.

So if you were wondering about the timing for the latest Isekai chapters? There you go.

    Welp, here's a life update

These last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Good things have happened, and also bad ones. No wonder I could relate to both Furina and Navia in the latest Isekai chapter. Sometimes pretending things are fine is really exhausting, even if they do get better.

Update to the Isekai coming tonight! And some additional details and change of plans.

First, to everyone waiting patiently for the next Isekai chapter, I apologize for the delay. I know there are a lot of people that want to see another visit to Hell happen soon, and it will, I promise. However, due to some circumstances, I decided for a different pair of visitors to visit the bar this week.

I find it kinda amusing · 3:38pm Jan 12th, 2014

...that even after so much time, and having the whole first version of the story posted there, people still freak out about Trixie in the first chapter.

I mean, TER was full of twists and turns and ups and downs... it was literally a Rollercoaster of emotions and happenings. Hence:

it earned it's tag.

Funny how even though so much internet time has passed, it's still a scene that causes so much controversy among readers. I know that is most likely one of the reasons it has a few downvotes, having seen that the down-voters are members of Trixie groups and such, and it really feels weird: they're complaining about her 'death' and yet, never stop to to think: "Gee, she's listed as one of the main characters, I wonder if she's important past this little appearance?"

Of course, that is all speculation. For all I know they might, honestly, not like the story. But... well, their Trixie-themed user pages kinda give me that impression. Judging a book by it's cover and all that. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind, I mean, if you don't like the story that's cool. I just find it amusing.

So, for old soldiers, what was your favorite twist out of the following? (Or if it was something else, spoil-tag it. In fact, if you want to go into detail, please spoil-tag it.)

Trixie
Twilight
Spark
Lyra
Jade
Bon-Bon
Gilda
Nightmare Moon
Nightmare Flare
Wonderbolts/Shadowbolts
Other (Spoiler Tag)

Twilight. Mostly because I actually expected it to stick at first. Well, kind of. I counted Spark as a separate character even before it was revealed that she was kind of a faulty clone.

D&D ending because of wtf

mfw I use my mobile phone and can't see past spoiler tags. :fluttercry:

Wanderer, why you no Rarity in there? I am disappoint. :raritycry: (Hint, that was my favourite.)

Well, it depends on how you define 'favorite'... if by favorite you mean 'which one had the most impact', then it was definitely Lyra.

...goddammit, D. That one just... it just... :fluttercry:

Gilda.

Just

Gilda.

She was pretty well written, and her final moments with Rainbow were just... amazing.

I think it was the bit after "Twilight" had returned, the Pinkie, Rarity and Flutters were gone and Applejack is trying to morn them while Twilight is trying to bed her while seeming completely fazed that three of her dear friends are now dead. And then on top of that Applejack goes to breakfast and learns that Rainbow Dash has betrayed them too.

That was probably the point of peak confusion on my first read.

I have to ask... How do you know who downvoted your story? From what I can tell, downvotes and upvotes are anonymous.

These were the top ones for me (no order, each one for it's own reason).
Lyra - such sacrifice
Twi's dad - much wtf
Trixie and Mac - wow

As much as I loved the story as a whole, I wasn't a fan of the Jade twist. My personal favorite was far and away the discovery of Twilight's body. Few other stories have forced me to stop reading and just stare at the page for a few minutes trying to figure everything out. The "If his body was incinerated, then... who's that?" line still gives me chills :rainbowderp:

Man, if they're upset about Trixie just wait until damn near everyone else

1710839 Ah yes I wonder what Silent Jade thinks.

I can honestly say I really liked the way all those twists came together on the last battle er battles.

But my favorite was Jade, it was the funniest to figure out because of all the little clues you wrote in diferent chapters.

And I have to mention Trixie, because I remember you said that, at first, you wanted to just kill her. But then you changed your mind, and wow, she became the character with the deepest story arc imo; she even got her own ship with Big Mac and changed for the better, I'd say going from dead to that is one giant :twistnerd:.

Spark. Definitely Spark. Though Trix was also a big part. Also D&D ending. Because IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!!!

1711281 I see I wasn't the only one who saw the D&D chapter and went "this story makes so much more sense now." It really went a long way to explain some of the cheaper plot devices and the way the narrative got unfocused with all the characters and the action combat-heavy near the end.

Well, Trixie's character arc was my favorite. And yes, that is very likely due to personal bias. :twilightsheepish:

But if we're talking just the twists, my favorite would have to be Lyra's death. I remember that point being on of the most tense scenes in the whole story, and out of all the characters that kick the bucket in this fic, her death hit me the hardest.

How is this surprising to you?
No, seriously, that's a legitimate question. Not everyone sees your fic at the same time, and people will have gone without reading/knowing about it for years, obviously. So if you constantly get people making the same assumption about something in your fic, you really shouldn't be surprised. I'm surprised that you're surprised about this... I still get crap over my molestia fic even after all this time. 'Course, I just ignore most of it, though...

1711644 I said amuses me. Not surprises me :pinkiehappy:

Oh Jade. I loved Jade so much. :raritywink:

The Trixie thing has always gotten me, and I can't explain why. She just felt... out of place. I dunno. Just every time I think The Empty Room, I think 'why was Trixie in that story again?' I know she's important and all, I just... idk :applejackunsure:

Anyways, probably my favorite twist was either Jade or Nightmare Moon.

1710912 Sorry, I seemed to have skipped over your comment earlier. I'm a mod, so I can check :P trust me though, sometimes it's really better not knowing.

eh...
im tired. I read things wrong.

Twilight and Trixie both meeting an unpleasant end was quite a surprise. She did feel a little out of play, but mostly I pitied her being stuck as a ghost. She may have wanted it and she got really lucky in the end, but she might have been happier had she simply moved on. That is at least in the sense of not having moved on and being intangible. -- The whole Spark and AJ thing was just weird.

Really, the other alicorns thing was the most interesting bit, pity that they were all dead and were really more like convenient fluff in their interactions with the story. Their impact was negligible and their fates terrible.

Lyra... one million times over Lyra...I didn't even know her name when I first started reading the fic, and now I can't see her walking down the road in the show with out getting all:fluttercry:
