The Day of the Dead Anthology

The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a now-famous tradition from ancient times that has been a huge part of Mexican Culture through the centuries. Like so many things in Mexico, it's influenced strongly by certain aspects of the Aztec people.

It has shaped the way those of us with that heritage look at life and death in many ways, and most importantly on the remembrance of, and honoring the deceased. We traditionally decorate little altars dedicated to the memories of those that passed away… but it's not a somber occasion.

PSA: Using AIs to Write and Publish Stories in Fimfiction

Hello everyone, this is a PSA (Public Service Announcement, for those of ESL) to put to rest consistent questions about using AI to 'write' stories and publish them here. This is not intended as a poll or a request for feedback. It is exclusively a clarification on an already-existing rule.

People ask: "Can I, oh great and powerful D, post a story or chapter that I got ChatGPT to write for me?!"

And the answer, my friend, is... No.

Absolutely not. Not in a thousand years!

    Because you didn't write it.

It is not your creation. You are NOT the author. In fact, you are the opposite.

There seems to be some confusion when interpreting the following rule:

    Don’t Post (Content)

    Phishing Awareness

Have you ever found yourself in a situation like this?

And then you magically find yourself in a suspiciously familiar site, except that you're not logged in, and it requires you to do so?

Well. Don't log in. This is a scam, and a cheap one at that.

There've been recent attempts to obtain Fimfiction users’ personal data, like passwords and/or emails through links like the one I'm making fun of above. And a distressing amount of people don't seem to know what phishing attempts are.

If you HAVE entered a site like this and put in your data, make sure to follow these basic steps at least.

All Our Best [Royal Canterlot Library]

As should be obvious from 15 months without a feature, life has taken the Royal Canterlot Library curators in different directions. While there’s still plenty of awesome stories being written in the My Little Pony fandom, we’re no longer actively working to spotlight them, and it’s time to officially draw the project to a close.

Thank you for all of your support, suggestions, and comments over the years. We’re grateful to have been able to share seven years of exemplary stories with you, and give more insight into the minds behind them. In the spirit of the project, please keep reading and recommending fantastic fics to friends—the community is enriched when we all share what we love.

    Reunions: A Swapped Roles Contest!

Okay guys here's something fun presented by Nitro Indigo.

Presented by me, I guess, but I digress.

Last year, I (Nitro Indigo) noticed that there was a surprising lack of roleswap fanfics on this site. To fix that, I decided to run a roleswap contest over the summer themed around secrets. While it didn’t get many entries, it nevertheless attracted the attention of some big authors and was the origin of two of my favourite fics. Overall, I think it was a success, so I’ve decided to run another one!

    Minor Rules and Reporting Update

Hope everyone is enjoying the new year.

Some small changes have been made to our rules as well as to the reporting process.

    Rules

"No attacks directed at individuals or groups due to race, gender, gender identity, religion or sexual identity."

This better clarifies our previously ill-defined hate speech rule and includes groups as well as individual attacks.

"No celebration, glorification or encouragement of real life criminal activity."

This includes past, present and potential future crimes.

    Jinglemas 2019

There's truly no time like the holidays. What's better than copious amounts of food, quality time with family and friends, hearing the sweet sound of Trans-Siberian Orchestra on repeat, and unmanagble financial stress from our capitalist overlords?

    Gift exchanges of course!

Site Post » Lots of new features · 3:34pm Aug 25th, 2011

Whew, I should have been doing these as I went along, but oh well. I've made some pretty huge changes around Fimfiction that'll be pretty noticeable to any authors. So let's get this thing started.

Have some adorable ponies too.

Story Management: I've added a whole new management page for stories now. From here you can add your new ones, and select any stories to edit. You'll find that page on the left, called "manage stories". Not only that, but stories themselves can now be deleted (not chapters yet though), and I've somewhat reluctantly decided to give the power to authors to delete comments if they feel they are offensive. Hopefully noone abuses that just to delete comments that don't overly praise the stories. I guess we'll see.

User Pages: These have also received a massive overhaul. If you go on someone's page now you'll see it looks a lot cleaner and has some more information.

Avatars: The site now supports avatars on your user page and next to comments. Just go to settings, then click avatar at the top to upload a new avatar. In settings you can also choose how big avatars appear on comments (either 64 x 64 or 128 x 128).

Archive: The archive has received a chunky makeover and now lets you choose characters to exclude as well as include. Searching also highlights text now, and searches in user names too, and short descriptions...

New story editing page: I imagine many of you have seen this already, but I've brought all 3 aspects of story editing (the main editing page, the image and characters) into a single page which is a lot nicer I think. And I've added a couple of new properties. "Short description" is a tagline for your story that'll appear in the archive so people know what they're clicking on. "View password" is a password you can give to people to let them see your work before it is published. I disabled the ability for people to view stories that aren't published because it's too exploitable for people posting disallowed content and linking to it from elsewhere.

Blogs: I've also added blogs now. You can add an entry by going to your user panel and clicking "Blogs". They will show on your user page, and you can choose to update people who are tracking your stories, if you're posting an entry that has relevance to it; again, hoping people don't exploit the choices I give them >:

So that's about all. Hopefully you guys enjoy the new stuff.

I don't think you'll have to worry too much about the users exploiting the changes. This is a pretty awesome fangroup. :ajsmug:

The EqD people should really get you to redesign Equestria Daily.
Because, to be frank, Blogger is crap.

Nice update! This site just keeps getting more and more refined.

*proceeds to use blog feature to spam server with requests* :trollestia:

You're amazing, you know that? That's all I have to say.
:pinkiehappy:

I wasnt here before the update, but the current site is nice, really sleek:twilightsmile:

I think the site is awsome. But it could use some more themes for the home page:yay:

PINKIE PIE THEME NAO
COVER THIS SITE IN MAGENTA
IT WILL BE GLORIOUS :pinkiecrazy:

Small bug report, on the filter options for stories it says "World Count" instead of "Word Count." Not too major, just a typo, but still there.:twilightblush:
