    I'm Basically Done

I hate to say it, but I've moved on from fan fiction, and really the whole brony community as a whole. As with all things, you just get bored of it eventually, and I think that times has come for me. Who knows, maybe I'll have time for this stuff later in life, but I think it's time to say goodbye. I've been spending a lot of time working on music and stuff; my band is playing at the Burlington

A Temporary Loss In Interest, And In Time

So I haven't been on here very much in the last two weeks. I've been keeping busy with things, schools things, and adjusting to taking more hours at my job. I'm also not feeling particularly inspired in terms of ponyfic, but I do have some ideas I want to write before I call writing quits (which will probably happen within the next year, honestly. Though I'll probably still pop in here as long as

    Testing Testing 1, 2, 3

So today, after spending all day studying for my upcoming AP exam, working 8 hours at my new* job, and then doing more of the same, I decided to unwind and try and catch up on season 4, which I admittedly never finished. And what do I get when unwinding? An episode about fracking tests for Baltar's sake. It's like mlp is trying to tell me to study instead of wasting time watching cartoons. Joke's

I hate society. A lot. It's so fucked up we expect mediocrity. I've spent the last four weeks doing the same exact thing: Wake up, go to early morning basketball to get my gym credit, go to four advanced or AP-level classes, go to XC practice, do homework until midnight, repeat. My brain can't fucking do this shit.

I'm sick of those who strive to be normal. They not only except the status quo but seek it. They are the problem. The may not lead it, but they allow themselves to be lead. They judge those who do anything different. Those who are bisexual they call man-sluts. Those who are bronies they call pedophiles. Those who have ADHD, they call slackers. And yet, they have no opinion whatsoever, because they make these judgement based on the opinions of everyone else.

I'm sick of many of those who practice my religion. Christians hate on gays because it's easy. Why would anybody give up their money or worldly goods when they could just say something and pretend it will get them to heaven? Why would a Muslim truly devote his whole life to Allah when he could just say he hated a Jew and pretend that Mohammed would be pleased? People think they'll go to heaven for burning the holy book of the Muslim, or for killing the Christian or the Jew, just for having a different interpretation of the word from the same fucking God. I love God, but I can't stand many of it's worshippers, whether Christian, Islam, or Jew, who take one phrase from a thousand page book and use it for evil.

I'm tired of the rich. They hold onto their wealth that they earned not by their own hand, but by exploiting those less fortunate. They hold onto carnal pleasures and deny themselves not only heaven, but the true meaning of what it is to live. They are hypocrites. A politician named Romney is worth millions, and claims religion. He and others like him make the world go darker and darker as we come closer and closer to our sure downfall.

Because this is the truth about the human race, and it's nature:
We destroy; we learn from that destruction; we rebuilt; we forget; we repeat it all again and again.
We saw this in the fall of the Roman Empire: the decadant lives of the rich sent the world sprawling into centuries of disarray until we reached the renaissance, an age of ideas and understanding more eloquent than any other. The pattern repeated itself. Men cast aside religion, or abuse it's doctrine. In the words of Friedrich Neitzsche, GOD IS DEAD.

The end of days isn't today; it isn't tomorrow. But it's going to happen. We can't suck the earth dry of oil, polute it's atmosphere with CO, and then expect everything to turn out like a fairy tale. The next time you have the chance to change something, do it. Don't spend your whole life wishing you'd done something else. Let pursuit of wealth, sex, what have you go. Pursue what really matters, because the point of life is to use it as you see fit, and deliver that message unto the next generation.

That's a small change, but in the end, it's not going to happen. We're well on our way to another big die-off, because just like the deer population, the human population has waves. We cause those waves in our ignorance of what is right. And yes, in case you haven't figured out right now, I'm extremely depressed right now. I've spent the last many weeks with minimal to no free time. I've gotten sick twice, just from the stress. I've had to drop two classes now, and the only thing that has kept me going is my music, but more importantly you guys on here. You guys let me pretend that all was normal, at least for a time.

Thank you so much for that.

And don't think I'm committing suicide. That is the greatest sin one can commit: to throw away the gift of life like one would a piece of garbage. I'm just going through a very rough spot right now, and I need to get a lot of these opinions off my chest.

4 AP classes in one year? You crayzeh. :raritydespair:

Just let your frustrations out. I'm here to support you.

Don't worry, humanity will kill off itself long before we cause irreparable damage to the environment. Even in the event of nuclear war, or pollution, or whatever does us in, the earth will correct itself in hundreds of millions of years. It'll be like we never existed at all! :pinkiehappy:

Doesn't that just make you feel so warm and special?

If you hate society so much, why don't you hatemarry it?

2 AP, 2 Advanced (which is like softcore AP). But still.

Garbo x Society: OTP.

That being said, the truly amazing thing about humans is that through all of that, 99.99% of all people go on like normal. In the most war torn countries or oppressed populations, people eat dinner, look for people to marry, have babies, tell stories, make music, and basically live their lives.

They've been doing these things since the start of recorded history (probably before) and as long as there's a small group of humans left, they will do these things. Life as usual.

Keep in mind that I'm extremely depressed and not looking at that brighter side of the spectrum, and most of this was me using society at a metaphor to lambaste the educational system.

I work technical support in a call center, so you aren't going to get much argument from me.
You are, of course, reminding me of a song. Everything does.

Not one that's likely to improve your mood, but at least it's appropriate. And hopefully it'll get you playing more Pink Floyd, which might improve it.

Hear, hear!

I'm with you. Have you considered writing a story about these feelings? That could help you in venting your frustration.

In the words of Friedrich Neitzsche, GOD IS DEAD.

That quote always reminds me about this song.

That's what I do when I'm depressed saddened by the world - I just listen to Nine Inch Nails. It makes my day.

Yes, actually, I have. I have a story idea in the works where Spike, after visiting a Dragon colony (either in Dragon Quest or another time, haven't decided), and in a conversation with Celestia he points out things he didn't like about the society as compared to Equestria. The metaphor being that Dragon society is where we are and Equestrian society is where we could be. It's a good message, but the plot itself needs serious work.

1386041 That sounds pretty good, I hope you can use this concept in a satisfying way someday

I am the same as you, I have nothing to argue about with this.

Honestly, on most of this, I agree with you. I think humans are inherently selfish, as are all animals, and this tends to sit at the heart of all of our ills. That said, we can be smart, too. If we want to be better, we absolutely can be. We just have to want it. We're good at getting what we want.

And yet, all too often, people will believe any arbitrary thing if it justifies them getting what they want. It might not be the truth, but if you believe a lie long enough, it becomes true for you. It's easier to find reasons to stick to an idea, than to change one's mind. We're stubborn, and we're creatures of habit.

That said, if you've ever enjoyed another's company, or had great friend, or made someone else truly feel better, you know that we're just as capable of tying our satisfaction to that of those around us, and you know how amazing it feels. That's also part of human nature. Like you said, we can be a positive force in the world, and in the lives of those around us, if we want to.

Depression sucks. It's like a storm, and there's no thinking one's way out of a storm. You just have to weather it, and wait for it to pass, and just keep in mind that, yeah, it's awful now, but it won't always be awful. This will pass, and the way you feel now, isn't the way you'll always feel.

Again, though, yeah. Depression fucking sucks.
