Okay.

Okay, you guys...

You guys...

You gu—All right! Um, hi, y'all. I don't make blogs regularly, mainly because they require a lot of work to not sound like I'm a total asshole, but a piece of work came out the other day that I... I just have to share.

So, you all know by now that I have a huge heterosexual man-crush on Spike. I love the little guy. When written well, he is without a doubt the most interesting character in the show, bar maybe Tia and Luna. Most of all, I love love LOVE exploring his relationship with Twilight. Some say it's like a mother/son, others like a simple sister/brother. I, myself, used to believe the latter. However, at Bronycon, I got the chance to ask the woman herself, Cathy Weseluck, and she described it so perfectly:

I understand if you don't want to watch the entire hour-long interview—you should though. For real, this is an amazing interview. Cathy is such a wise person. Hell, she even made me appreciate Spike At Your Service!—so my bit starts at 42:20, and she says that Spike would view Twilight as a sister in a family where the parents are dead.

Wow. Mind, blown, for, real. It just makes perfect sense! They're more than friends, more than siblings, more than mother and son, they are... well, I'll get to that in a minute.

A picture, accompanied by a short little story, came out the other day... and it nearly broke me, it's so heartwarming and beautiful. Seriously, it got to me. Of course, there's only one man who could be behind this, only one man who, without fail, hits me right in the feels every single time he deals with Twilight and Spike: The Descendant.

It's a safe bet that if you follow me, you also follow him, because if you'll follow some asshole in a brown hat, you most likely follow one of tghe best writers in this little corner of the fiction world. So I will not waste your time in describing how Descy's work is artistic, emotional, and gosh-damn beautiful.

Okay, I'm rambling, so I'll get to the point. If you want the full story of this picture, go read his blog about it. I'm not trying to steal is thunder, I just had to share this beautiful piece of artwork. Remember how I said their relationship was above all the others? Not siblings, not maternal, not friends. The only true way to describe their relationship is: The Royal We.

Look at it. Just... just look at it!

I will not repost the story that comes with it, because I did not ask permission. As an aside, I also did not ask to post this, so if Descy or the artist sees this and you disapprove, say the word and it will be taken down.

So, go here, read the story, and cry.

Also, things may be coming form me... maybe.... keep your eyes peeled.

Till then, I fucking love you all. Stay safe, stay free, and stay metal! Jake The Army Guy out!!

Awesome.

she even made me appreciate Spike At Your Service

How on earth did she manage to do that? SaYS is the worst episode of the season, and a contender for worst of G4, IMO.

For me, I've been able to see Twilight as motherly and sisterly. I could read both relations, but I'd probably only write her as a sister, and this picture is full of sooooooo much dawwwww. I love Spike too, and it's art like this that make me wonder why there is no banner art of Spike anywhere in the over 20 art peices of the home page. Guess it's off to DA to look for suggestions for knighty... again. Thanks for sharing this amazing art and interveiw, stay safe, Mr. Jake.

Too much hate on the guy.

I love it when an author pulls him off RIGHT.

I personally think Season Three kinda ruined the bugger, as in season one he was a sarcastic witty adorable wiseass. Very much like purple butt herself. I like bringing those glory days of Spike back. And I also see them as brother/sister. Because... duh? She grew up with him, helped raise him, is protective of him. Loves him. I hate stories that see her so emotionless toward him.

And dear god, you are an excited little thing aren't you?

Don't kill me sir... :fluttercry:

1368973 As I said. They've made him too much of the clumsy oaf. I enjoy him being a mini twilight/semi innocent child/far too clever for his own good.

And also what kind of metal? Tank metal? Power? Speed?

I'm glad you found the piece so moving, Sergeant!

Man, I just thought of a dark comedy story that I just read that would make you rage.

I'll just leave this here.

Spike's Destiny

First thing I thought besides rage, "Man Jake would be so upset if he read this."

:rainbowlaugh: I really enjoyed that! Sure, it spit in the face of my little guy, but hey, I'll just consider him non-canon and boom, everybody's happy!

Glad to see ya so excited! :twilightsheepish:
...also I'm glad you posted that link. I didn't get to see that many panels or voice actors so I'm always happy to find some good footage of stuff...plus I'm too lazy to actually spend a lot of time hunting 'em down.

Oh uh... Feelz incoming... AND I'M IN SCHOOL! Take cover!

Edit: No tears, no crying. Sadness in mind and BUCKING SURGES THROUGH MY BODY AS I READ THE STORY!
Seriously, those surges have only ever occured to me at times of great revelation and overall it was always something amazing. This little story is hooves down the best one that I will ever read describing their relationship. And the art was amazing as well!

I'll just leave this here.

Yeah, Spike seeing Twi as the big sister in a family where the parents are dead totally makes sense. 'S pretty close to how I'd seen it before, but I'd never had the words to express it so well until now.
