Thanks, Everypony! · 6:47am Jul 8th, 2013
Wow.
So, Hooves Holding Hearts has now been in the feature box for more than twenty-four hours.
Thanks.
Thanks to all the new readers who gave it a shot, and all my old readers who've stuck with me. I poured my personal worries and anxiety into a story about pastel ponies, and you all have made it popular enough to compete with the story about Twilight Sparkle schtupping a plant, which is no small feat on this internet. Not knocking, haven't read it, but I assume it speaks to a more basic and straightforward need than a story about the emotional twists and turns of the adoption process. Thanks for trying me out.
And thanks to Whipstitch for that amazing cover.
I'm at 1,500 words on chapter 2, but I think I might pass out before I finish my coffee. I'll try to have the next chapter up in about a week.
Deserving story is deserving.

Thank you. Apparently, it's currently the forty-fourth highest rated Bon Bon story on the site. Being that close to things like "Mendacity," "Only Human," and "Happily Ever After" makes me all a-twitter.
Huh. I immediately lost a follower after posting. This is going to get me all existential. Now I know why Whipstitch stopped checking her likes after every update.

Mendacity I have read. It's use of mythology fills me with glee. It is a story that I much enjoy and is very deserving of it's high ranking.
So believe me when I say that Hooves is shaping up to be a competitor.

Yeah, inspired by Mendacity I'm grabbing the changeling class from the "Ponies for Pathfinder" D&D book and rolling up a kelpie rogue as a replacement character.
Thanks for the support, man. I'll try to live up to thank.

Wait.
Pathfinder Ponies.
WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME!

My first character is a mage-created unicorn who has the voice and personality of Seth Rogen. I am excite. I'm hoping to get him to meet a nightgaunt, and have three of my favorite things interacting (ponies, role-playing, Lovecraft) cause a coolness singularity.

Nerdwood.
It's great and I love it, man.
Have you adopted?
I was thinkin' 'bout my mom, and how she was the lawyer helping some people from our church adopt. They tried for kids and just couldn't and it was so sad. They wanted them so much, and mom helping them facilitate that was really special.

Not yet. It's a long road.
1196030
Not yet hmm?
In that case, best of luck to you.
Cant wait for the next chapter
1196030 I know.
Good luck out there, Paleo.

I'm sure the story got you some followers though. It all evens out.
The thing about all of your stories, is that they're written with a kind of prose that you just don't see on here. I can't describe it, but what I do know, is that it's not the average narrative. This is a big reason why we love the things you do. It might be because you're a teacher and you've had probably years of experience writing, pretty much professionally. Whether you're a college literature professor going on your umpteenth year, or a high school algebra teacher who just likes to write, you have an amazing talent, and if you haven't already, you should look into getting some short stories or novels published.
One of the 'tricks' to getting into the feature box is to have a few chapters in the can before you post the first one, so you can release every day or two to keep your activity up. Plus it makes happier readers and less stress on you. I think 'Monster in the Twilight' stayed in the feature box most of a week and posted such high numbers that it was almost impossible to get into the "featured updates" slots afterwards. I've found it more stressful to be producing as I'm publishing, so Monster will probably be my last 'serial' release.
'Traveling Tutor and the Librarian' hit the feature box briefly, and touched the Update box about 3/4 of the times I posted new chapters. The sequel, "The Traveling Tutor and the Diplomat's Daughter" is going to be all the way done, edited, and finalized before I put it on FIM. (9 chapters vs 37 for the original. I'm far too chatty.)
Fascinating. I didn't think I would learn another word for intercourse that wasn't just the latest trending euphemism ("Hey man, you paperclippin' her?).
Interesting grammatical note though, apparently schtupping isn't something you can do to another person or thing, it's performed by two or more people. The correct phrasing would be "Twilight and a plant schtup."
Well I think you earned it. Your new story is very solid, and I look forward to seeing where it goes.
