Hello all my wonderful friends and readers. I just wanted to write this blog to let you all know that my grandma is home, but she is home on hospice. Which means that the people from hospice will come in, make her feel comfortable, give her medications that home healthcare can not, and all we do is wait for her time to go home in Heaven.
I have only shared my story with my family and best friend who is my friend off the computer, but you all have become such wonderful friends to me and welcomed me warmly to Fimfiction.net, that I feel comfortable in telling you my story about my grandma.
Back in late 2006, she had a stroke and we took to the hospital. Well, while she was in the hospital, she was diagnosed with Dementia, which is like Alzheimer's Disease, but just a early phase of it, and she was recommended to come to live at home with me and my mom. In 2007, I enrolled in a program to become her personal in home caretaker. For the next six years, myself along with my mom have done our best to give her a real good life so we didn't have to make the hard decision in putting her in a nursing home.
At the beginning of this year, also in March, and just yesterday, she has been sent to the hospital due to having a UTI. The past two times, the thought of hospice has been discussed, but me and my mom was just not ready to consider it. However, yesterday was a reality check you would say, so we finally decided to go with hospice. It is just she has become weak, she doesn't eat but baby bites, and when she looks at us, she looks like she is staring off into space.
So now, she is home, but home on hospice, and I know it won't be much longer. I just wanted to thank you all so much for your wonderful friendship, your kind words and well wishes, and support. It means so much to me, and I love you all for that. Thank you all.

sorry heart, my grandmother died some years ago with the same condition, so i know what its like, but shes didn't get to live with us back then, she had been put in a retirement home.

I am so sorry to hear this. I know you may not think I know what you are going through but exactly one year ago my Grandma was placed under Hospice Care. On the 4th of July my Gradnma was walking, talking and being sociable. The next morning she couldn't get out of bed and was unable to speak. 3 AM on the morning on the 14th she passed away peacefully.
Spend as much time with her as you can. If there is anything you want to tell her or talk to her, do so. I don't want you to have any regrets. this time is very previous. I'm shedding tears as I type this. My thoughts and prayers are with you, her, and your family in this tough time.
Sorry. My grandfather died a few months ago, though I don't exactly remember what it was he died from.

My god, that's sad, make sure to talk alot to her so you don't have any regrets. I know hows feels to know someone close to you won't be for long. That happened with my maternal grandpa, I was just 7 years old when that happened. My mom told me that he won't live and I fell to depression when that happened
Aww. Well you at least you get to spend some time with her and say you love her and when the time finally comes you can say goodbye. And remember, we are all here for ya.

Am sorry to hear about that, I understand how hard it can be, my grandpa was diagnosied with dementia as well before he passed, it's can be tough. Atleast she is with you and your family, so you can give her the love and support she needs.
I hope she doesn't suffer much and when she passes maybe she'll go to Equestria and meet Toby and the gang

Bud I know exactly how you feel and the last time I saw my Grandma before she went she called me Paul my Grandpa's name and he had been dead for about ten years. It's terrible when grandparents get sick.
