Author of the Tarnished Silver series. I write clopfics with too many emotions in them. My work is very niche, but my readers are a wonderfully enthusiastic bunch, so I must be doing something right?

    10 Years Later

    Suddenly!

    ...anyone still here?

Hi, everybody. I doubt anyone else has even noticed, nor would I expect them to, but ten years ago today, I uploaded a weird little clop story called Tarnished Silver to this site.

Tarnished Silver: The Audiobook (Plus: foreign language editions, and a teaser for something new!)

FACT: In our busy modern world of smartphones and red pandas, few of us have time to sit down and read books, let alone morally questionable horse fanfiction. Thus we have seen the meteoric rise of the audiobook, which allows people to take in a story while doing something else, like flying a jet between two narrow canyons under heavy enemy fire, or jogging. But until now, there's been no

    "Baby Steps"

Those two words in yesterday's episode managed to completely redefine the episode, and possibly the character of Fluttershy, for me. I think they might be the two most important words she's ever spoken. Here's why.

A new story is coming tomorrow!

Why yes, I am a shameless whore , thank you for noticing.

Tomorrow afternoon (that's Friday CST, people of the world) the internet will be forced to endure another entry in the Tarnished Silver canon. It's a one-shot, but I'm actually quite pleased with it, which is something I don't usually say about my own writing.

Hi, I'm Hamgravy. I write fanfics about reprehensible things being done to Silver Spoon's butt. Ask me anything. · 11:12am May 20th, 2013

So there was no chapter last week, so let's do a fun thing to kill time while I write that pesky chapter 28.

Apparently all the cool kids are doing Ask Me Anything blogs, and the laws of peer pressure demand that I follow suit.

It seems that part of the trend is that I ping everyone who followed or favorited anything I've ever written, so let's give a warm welcome to the people who enjoyed Many Loves of Pinkie but want nothing to do with Tarnished Silver and are currently going "there are TWENTY EIGHT chapters of that crap?" You folks are alright! Welcome back to the stage of history!

So yeah, if you have a question for me, ask away, and you are guaranteed an answer! Or if not, enjoy this randomly chosen picture of Apple Bloom as a mouse.

OH MY GOD.

Okay!
1) Why the username HamGravy?
2) where did you get the idea for the Tarnished Silver series?

Okay, here I go.

I was wondering: do you had any more ideas in the works for after the Tarnished Silver series?

And if so, would it be multi-chapter like Twisted and A Silver Sky? If not, would you consider writing something long-term again?

(Sorry if that's a lot :twilightsheepish:)

What's your opinions on futas, and their proximity to Silver Spoon's butt?

What's your street address?

Uhm, I actually got nothing ... so thank for play!

Ohh! Would you be writting this kinda stuff if it was, say, My Little Ants or My Little Crabs or My Little ... well, you get the picture.

1. Why are you a bitch?

2. Why is the word 'bitch' associated with pliant effeminacy when applied to men and with violent unacceptability when applied to women?

3. Why aren't you a state yet?

4. Why do Americans associate individuals almost entirely with their origins and family in a country based on equal opportunity?

5. Why is 'why' a term associated mainly with the intelligent and the stupid, but never the average?

6. Why am I elaborating on my prior questions with later ones?

7. Why are you a bitch-ass ho?

Well Pipsqueak and Twist get their own spin off stories? Silver Spoon is nice and all, but I'm more interested in learning what happens to Pipsqueak and Twist.
:twistnerd:

Will Spike get laid?

Will Spike save the day?

Where in the hell did you come up with the crazy, twisted, and convoluted story for all of Tarnished Silver Series?

Personally, do you perfer males or females?

Favorite pony shipping?

Will you continue writing any other pony fanfics after Tarnished Silver is done?

In this story there are two major cosmologies. Celestia's and Silver Spoon's.
Celestia believes in the cosmic balance and how ponies have to appease this balance.
Silver believes it's not about comic balance, one must become ones own master.

Which of these theories do you believe? Maybe you don't believe either and you have a completely different stance on free will. :unsuresweetie:

Ask me anything.

AAAAAAANYTHING?

In the upcoming chapter, will they think of the children?

Can you tell us something about your AU that for whatever reason wasn't in your stories? What is it?

Why does no one rape Applebloom, ever?

Why won't you do a vocaroo of yourself saying "TASTE THE FIESTA!"?

Could the above be because you actually are not a girl?

Will Celestia realise that according to her own theory, she should kill herself and Luna, preferably taking as many innocents as possible with them, to kickstart Equestria into an era of unprecedented prosperity?

Is there any medium that gave you a disproportionate amount of inspiration when writing Tarnished Silver? What was it?

Why do you like Babs so much?

If Luna wins, will she take down pedonkey.org?

Do you check your privilege?

Does the Circle check its privilege and provide equal getting-raped opportunities for minors from minorities?

Who will keep Twitht's puthy warm now?

people who enjoyed Many Loves of Pinkie but want nothing to do with Tarnished Silver

Do they actually exist?

Thoughts on Equestria Girls?

Will Pinkie Pie throw the Sorry You Got Molested Party when Sweetie returns home?

Why don't you make backups of your drafts?

Do you think Catholics, or former Catholics, are more likely to be sexual deviants?

Do you know why kids love cinnamon toast crunch?

Why did you make the Circle so big when writing Twisted? Was it because of the "balance theory", or did the aforementioned come up as a result of your decision on the Circle's size?

Favourite vidyagaem?

Do you miss DE?

1. Will you be writing anything long term after Tarnished Silver, and if so, will it be as dark and dramatic as this? :duck:

2. Is it wrong for me to ship PeregrinexTwist? How do you feel about ending the series?

1093821
No I don't think it is wrong that you ship PeregrinexTwist
I used to imagine that Peregrine would be shipped with Aurora . . . until . . . until. . . :pinkiesad2::fluttercry::applecry::raritycry::raritydespair:

Any way, because of all these Twists :twistnerd: Practically NOTHING is ending the way I would have guessed after first finishing Chapter 1: Scarflank back in 2012.

Heres how I thought it would end:
Fancypants and Rarity would both die, killed by each other (wrong)
Fancy's Mansion would burn to the ground, and Twenty and Gaze (I thought they were different ponies) would be lost in the flames in a locked battle with each other and although the out come of the battle would be ambiguous neither pony would ever be seen again suggesting they both died but not confirming it (wrong)
Silver would lead the ghetto ponies of Dead Weight Alley to save the gallery foals (wrong)
Celestia and Luna would not have to get involved because the Circle Ponies kill each other (Including Indigo and the Dream family, and Triage and the rebels) breaking the Circle. (wrong)
Twist, Pipsqueak, Sweetie Belle, Silver Spoon, Diamond Tiara, Happy Tune, and Fond Wish would leave the burning mansion in epic slow motion, with a loud rock song playing in the background and all the foals fleeing across Fancy's lawn. (wrong)
Also the epilogue would involve Pipsqueak becoming President of Equestria (actually I never thought that)! :trollestia:

Remember I thought Rarity, Fancy, and the Circle Ponies would all die at the end of this story.

Also I expected the final shippings to be:
Sweetie Belle x Silver Spoon
Aurora x Peregrine
Pipsqueak x Twist
Diamond Tiara x Fond Wish

Happy Tune would be left unshipped but it's suggested that she will work through her problems.

1092697
1) I chose it on a whim, because at the time I thought I would write one short story under it, post it to 4chan, and then discard it. It was the first thing that popped into my head, probably because I had been reading about early 20th century comics that day.

2) It is a long and needlessly convoluted tale. Much like Tarnished Silver itself.

1092700
I have quite a few ideas, mostly non-pony related, but a few pony ideas as well. I don't think I will be doing any long multi-chapter MLP fics for a while, though. Something around the length of Many Loves of Pinkie Pie might pop up every now and then, though.

1092712
My opinion on futas is that the world needs more of them. I'll come right out and say that I find them to be sexy as hell. Dammit, Cartoonlion, bring back Futashy already. All the best equipment of both sexes in one convenient body! If biological futas were real, they would be a master race and enslave us all, and I would be okay with this.

As an aside, I always find it hilarious when people postulate that if you like futas, you must be gay. If I were gay, I'd be looking at dudes with penises, not ladies. Duh.

But if you like to look at penises, then you must be at least a little gay, right? Maybe? Maybe not? Who cares? I never claimed to be completely straight, anyway. :rainbowdetermined2: I think there's a question about my sexuality further down, so I'll ramble more about it then.

As for Silver Spoon's butt, a futa should be in close proximity to it whenever possible. I could see Silver really enjoying having a futa as a partner, because the double genitalia means she has another need for Silver to devote herself to fulfilling. It's a shame there's no Futashy in the Tarnished Silver universe. Those two would be great together. Futashy all embarrassed about her unending need to hump everything, Silver all but begging to be used as a cocksleeve, Futashy all embarrassed because she doesn't want to exploit a poor confused foal but secretly wanting it to the point of losing her self-control.

Actually, I'm going to put that in the future ideas pile. Yeehaw! :pinkiehappy:

1092733
Probably not! Horses, being fellow mammals, are easier to approximate to humans than crabs or ants or salmon are. If this were My Little Salmon then every clopfic would be about swimming upstream, jizzing on some eggs, and then dying. UNDOUBTEDLY SOMEONE'S FETISH (but not mine.)

Actually one of the reasons I got into MLP in the first place was because I used to work with horses professionally at a boarding stable (kept their stalls clean, made sure they got to go out and run around, fed them, etc.) so I always liked them a lot. Even though MLP ponies barely resemble the real thing, when I saw the first thread about the show on /co/ I went "wheee ponies!" and clicked the Youtube link. This probably would not have happened if they were My Little Banana Slugs or something.

I'll answer more later!

Ach. Here's another one that's actually fucking relevant: what are your opinions on unsolicited 'hey read this shit, it's good' things? Cause I've got some stuff that might possibly be up your alley ...

... except I should ask the other person that does most of the work if that person'd be ok with me spreading this shit around. Also, I hate giving things out randomly and saying 'hurr durr read dis' cause I feel like a jackass trying to show off to better writers in the vain hope that some skill might transmit to me somehow via internet osmosis. Anyway, yeah, what's your opinion on that?

1) Have you had a really epic 'What the hell am I DOING!?' moment in the course of writing the TS saga?

2) Do you personally feel Catharsis or remorse when you get to writing the 'comeuppance' event for one of the utter bastards you've populated the circle with.

Seriously, it's like a whole world of King Hamdo (now and then, here and there) level assholes that I can't help but legitimately despise, yet know full well that they're the main source of compulsion.

1092763
1) Four years at Bitch University. I'm so much debt now.

2) Because a portion of society still views being feminine as the worst thing a male can do. Yes, a woman who is called a bitch is generally viewed as fierce and strong (and thus she must be insulted for being so) but a male who is called a bitch is basically being told "you are similar to a woman." And it doesn't matter how fierce or strong she is, that is still seen as a bad thing, and the implication is that being a strong woman is still a step down from being any kind of man.

In conclusion: Fuck you, society. :pinkiesick:

3) I am. Hamgravy is actually the long-lost fifth state of matter. More fun than liquid, less hilarious than gaseous. As for plasma, it can suck it. Plasma's a jackass.

4) Because the idea of American equal opportunity is a pretty political slogan which has never been really true. The last 50 or so years of American history have consisted of a number of groups (African-Americans, women, gays, etc) realizing that the game is rigged against them, demanding some actual equal opportunity, and being called commie traitors for it.

Oh god, politics are happening, let's move on. :raritydespair:

5) Because a truly inquisitive mind is not a typical thing. It is the providence of children, geniuses and lunatics. These descriptors are not mutually exclusive.

6) Because you are one of the people alluded to in answer five.

7) Oh that is IT! Dontel, hold my jamba juice. I'ma go pound some sense into this fool.

1092811
If I do my job right, Pip and Twist's story will have been told by the end of the series; I think adding anything more would feel like padding. They both have some big scenes in the last chapter, though!

This is true of most of the main cast, actually. If I revisit this universe, it will likely be to either explore some of the more minor characters (like Pinkie, Applejack, or the other CMC's) or to do some sort of what if scenario. That said, I never rule anything completely out.

1092956
Yes. Spike will just kind of walk up with a bullhorn and yell "HEY EVERYBODY! RAPE IS MEAN!" Celestia, Rarity, and all the surviving Circle members will suddenly realize their mistake and give up; Celly will then announce that she actually forgot to make rape illegal so she's going to go fix that, and everyone laughs. The last two chapters are each one sentence long. In fact, those two sentences were the last two chapters. Goodbye forever!

Real answer: You'll see. :ajsmug:

1093120

Where in the hell did you come up with the crazy, twisted, and convoluted story for all of Tarnished Silver Series?

At this point? I'm not even sure. I was just setting out to write a clopfic with Rarity and Silver Spoon, and then it just snowballed. A lot of the larger ideas came from me just thinking about the finer points of the story and thinking up answers that I thought fit.

The Circle came from me wondering, "Why isn't Rarity in prison? Maybe she has powerful friends? What was that rich pony from Sweet and Elite called again?"

The Balance theory came from me wondering, "Why doesn't Celestia put a stop to all this foal fiddling? Maybe she can't? Or maybe she doesn't want to?"

And so on.

For A Silver Sky, I used a similar approach, but since many of the backgrounds elements were in play, it was more about answering the question "how do I get everyone to the points I want them to be at in the end?" I planned out the first version of the ending in my head while wandering aimlessly around a major American city I had never been to before. This was all the way back in July 2012; everything since then has been about reaching that goal, getting each pony to their resolution in a credible and compelling manner. The ending has changed a bit since then, but not as much as you would think.

Personally, do you perfer males or females?

Females. I probably like women too much for my own good. And not in a "LOL Ham likes to chase ladies and sex them" Dobie Gillis sort of way. More in the sense that I think women are generally awesome and I hate how society undervalues them and trivializes anything feminine. I don't dislike men by any means, but most of my close friends are female. I've never seen this as a problem.

But you were probably asking about sex.

I definitely prefer females. On a purely physical level I find men a little attractive, but I find the female body so much more attractive that it renders any interest in men almost moot by comparison. The female body just has everything I could ask for. Except a penis.

Yeah, I kind of like penises. I don't miss them when I'm with a woman or anything (vaginas are awesome, thanks for asking) but I do think they're quite lovely in their own way, but I've never had the opportunity to mess around with one (other than my own.) Sometimes I think about hooking up with a trans woman who has a penis, but then I feel kind of guilty because I worry I'm fetishizing trans women, and they have enough bullshit to deal with. But maybe it would be okay for me to fool around with one if she were comfortable with it? Maybe I'm thinking too much about this? :rainbowderp:

So I guess the answer is that I like females, but also male sex organs, as like, a side dish.

Oh God, this answer completely went off the rails into Super TMI Land. I'm so sorry. :facehoof:

Favorite pony shipping?

I am not a big shipper, but I kind of like Rarity and Applejack together, ever since Look Before You Sleep. They compliment each others' flaws and strengths very well. But then I went and made AJ despise Rarity in my story. So much for that, I guess. :ajbemused: Just because I like a ship doesn't mean I think it's the right choice for characters in my story.

Outside the Mane 6, Diamondspoon is best ship. OBVIOUSLY. Also, I guess there's a new one called Appleseed (Apple Bloom/Babs Seed) which sounds adorable, so I hereby endorse it. Ha ha, I just called incest "adorable." :unsuresweetie:

Will you continue writing any other pony fanfics after Tarnished Silver is done?

I will continue writing as long as I am capable of doing so. Some of the things I write will be pony related, though probably far less than before. I definitely plan on taking a break from writing about ponies after this series ends.

Shit, I need to make my answers shorter. Oh, well. More to come!

1095033

[I sure] likes to chase ladies and sex them

We've got it straight from the feminist's mouth, men.

I'm now imagining a posse of men chasing you around while you chase a group of women like some kind of American Johnny Bravo to this.

Actually, I'm going to put that in the future ideas pile!

>implying we don't know all about your horrible roleplays on dead imageboards

Step it up m8

1095033
I think Silver Spoon is suffering from Batman syndrome. She's the least interesting character when compared to the rogue's gallery she's surrounded by.

That's not to say that she's a bad character. I'm just excited to hear that more focus will be placed on the side characters in later chapters.

Ok, now that we know that Silver Spoon should be in close proximity to futas when ever possible, any chance there might be, well, 'addition' then 'multiplication' between her and the 'mare' so equipped to do what would normally require a stallion? (if it's not clear, just picture Silver Spoon with a big, round tummy but not from over-eating) :applejackconfused:

1094136

Same, poor Aurora :raritycry:

I always thought the ponies of Deadweight Alley would come back...maybe they will? I'm not sure how they could fit into the story at this point :unsuresweetie:

I definitely thought Fancypants and Rarity would end up in a deathmatch, but I called that Gaze was Twenty just a few chapters after Twenty was mentioned, I think.

1093351
Well, I don't know if I would call Silver's stance a "cosmology." She really doesn't think that big. But I do think you have a point in that their respective worldviews are kind of in conflict: Celestia seems to see everything in very broad, big-picture terms, and the lives of ponies are almost like raw materials to her at this point, used for the ultimate goal of preserving the balance and thus, getting to stay with Luna.

Meanwhile, Silver's thinking is much more small-scale: at first it was about pleasing Diamond tiara above all else, then pleasing Rarity; then it was about saving the Gallery foals. Now it's about sorting out her own issues and finally recognizing her own self-worth. Silver doesn't think in terms of cosmic balance because her focus is much more narrow; the philosophy she's struck upon is "help others when you can, but remember that you matter just as much as they do." It's that second part that still gives her trouble.

I think I definitely fall more on Silver's side of this spectrum, if only because I find her easier to relate to. As for the question of free will? I understand the various arguments that claim it's an illusion, but I prefer to believe it is not. I think claiming we don't have it absolves us of too much responsibility.

1093445

Best pony

These two.

1093674

In the upcoming chapter, will they think of the children?

NOPE. Luna and Celestia explode the world and then there's no children left to think about.

Can you tell us something about your AU that for whatever reason wasn't in your stories? What is it?

When the CMC first got together, they spent most of their weekends alternating between sleeping over at Apple Bloom's place, and Scootaloo's urine-soaked cardboard box behind the 7-11 perfectly normal house with two loving parents. Naturally Sweetie was expected to host them every third weekend, but she kept making excuses to prevent it. She was terrified of having her friends stay over in the same house as her sister; during this time Rarity had sworn off her darker urges and was doing a good job of holding them back. But Sweetie knew that it was taking all her willpower to control herself, and having two beautiful foals spending the night at her place was the last thing Rarity needed.

Finally, just before the events of The Stare Master, the other CMCs cornered Sweetie and guilted her into agreeing to let them spend the night at her place. In need of a backup plan, Sweetie intentionally used Rarity's gold silk cloth to line the CMC capes she was making, knowing that Rarity would have to work all night to make up for Sweetie's "mistake." She hoped this would keep Rarity busy and away from her friends. The plan worked even better than she'd hoped when Rarity dumped the CMC off on Fluttershy for the evening.

Secretly, Rarity suspected Sweetie's plan, and was actually grateful for it, as she was worried about falling off the wagon, too. That's why she barely scolds Sweetie for stealing and ruining her silk, and instead just apologizes to the girls. The two of them did this sort of thing all the time, with Sweetie trying to subtly help her sister stay away from temptation in order to protect other foals from suffering as she did.

Also, the reason you never saw Fleur around Fancy in this story was because she was essentially his beard: he hired her to follow him around and conspicuously hang off him in public during the weeks leading up to the garden party. At the time there were rumors about town that Fancy had a thing for young fillies; he nipped them in the bud by creating a new rumor about his relationship with a mysterious beautiful mare who was clearly above the age of consent. In reality, Fancy never slept with Fleur, nor did he have any interest in doing so. Their relationship was strictly professional, and she was well compensated for her time.

Why does no one rape Applebloom, ever?

Because her legal guardians are Giant Super Strong Red Stallion and Merciless Cowgirl Who Can and Will Kick Your Brain Out of Your Skull If You Mess With Her Kinfolk.

Why won't you do a vocaroo of yourself saying "TASTE THE FIESTA!"?

Why not indeed?

Could the above be because you actually are not a girl?

!!!!(He knows!)

Will Celestia realise that according to her own theory, she should kill herself and Luna, preferably taking as many innocents as possible with them, to kickstart Equestria into an era of unprecedented prosperity?

She might have already. But since her real goal is to stay with Luna forever, this would be counter-productive. Also, I'm not sure she can die.

Is there any medium that gave you a disproportionate amount of inspiration when writing Tarnished Silver? What was it?

Listening to music on shuffle has proven a good way to break past writer's blocks. It doesn't work if I select my own songs, though.

Why do you like Babs so much?

I think Babs is adorable. I like her combination of toughness and wounded insecurity. It seems very real, and her whole thing where she hides her blank flank with her tail? Delightful. Also I think she's a great addition to both the CMC and Diamond's clique. She balances both of them out in different ways. I really hope there's a Manehattan episode in season 4 because the CMC no longer feels complete without her.

If Luna wins, will she take down pedonkey.org?

No. Luna is still adjusting to modern times, so she thinks the entire internet is just a video of a cat falling off a bed. Celestia has it set as her browser homepage so it's the only site Luna knows how to access.

Do you check your privilege?

Hold on.

....

Yep, it's still there.

Does the Circle check its privilege and provide equal getting-raped opportunities for minors from minorities?

Past incarnations of the Circle have had young donkeys and mules in their sex dungeons, but modern Canterlot elites tend to look down on them as dirty and undesirable. Ponyville is full of casual anti-mule racism so it's no surprise that the snobs in Canterlot are even worse.

The lack of zebras and griffins in the Gallery is more of a matter of scarcity. They're exceedingly rare in Equestria. When I was creating Aurora and Peregrine, I briefly planned to give Twist a third friend who was a zebra, but she didn't add much and I couldn't decide if I wanted her to rhyme or not, so I cut her.

Who will keep Twitht's puthy warm now?

Filthy Rich's new line of Puthy warmers, of course. No more cold puthies for the mares of Equestria!

Do they actually exist?

Yes. I've had at least a couple of people tell me "hey, loved your Preggo Pie thing, you should write more of that because I hate foalcon." Fair enough!

Thoughts on Equestria Girls?

It will probably be well written enough, but the designs are hideous, adding humans to the MLP universe feels wrong, and one of the great things about this show was the LACK of boyfriends and kids-in-school plotlines.

That said, as long as it's just the one movie, it's not the end of the world.

Will Pinkie Pie throw the Sorry You Got Molested Party when Sweetie returns home?

She's going to have to throw like 50 of these now that the Gallery's been emptied out. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. :pinkiehappy:

Why don't you make backups of your drafts?

Stupidity! But I sure as hell make backups NOW.

Do you think Catholics, or former Catholics, are more likely to be sexual deviants?

I am a former Catholic.

*cough*

Do you know why kids love cinnamon toast crunch?

Kids love anything that can contribute to their eventual diabetes.

Why did you make the Circle so big when writing Twisted? Was it because of the "balance theory", or did the aforementioned come up as a result of your decision on the Circle's size?

The Circle's size came first. I wanted the Circle to be an imposing presence, not just five old rich guys in a room diddling some fillies.

Favourite vidyagaem?

Ever? A toss-up between Wind Waker and Mega Man 2.

Do you miss DE?

Yeah I do. It was a nice thing we had going. But I'm glad we knew when to call it quits, unlike some /mlp/ generals I could mention.

1093821

1) I'm sure I will write something long term after this. I highly doubt it will be about ponies, but whenever I get it into a readable form, I will let my FimFiction peeps know about it. Will it be as dark? Maybe, but I'm guessing it'll be a bit more lighthearted. Will it be as dramatic? Well, I hope I can make it as compelling to readers as Tarnished Silver seems to be!

2) All ships are okay except RarityXIndigo. I feel nervous, mostly. Now that I've gotten everything lined up, I just hope I can stick the landing. Endings are hard, yo.

Once I actually complete it, I'm probably going to feel a powerful mixture of accomplishment and sadness. And I'll be playing We Are the Champions as I hit the publish button for the last time. :rainbowdetermined2:

That was...a lot of questions. I'll get to the last few tomorrow!

What are your thoughts on the whole Scootaloo being a homeless orphan theory? We never get to see her family and we never see her in a house/room of her own.

Personally I believe it is too dark for the show, and think that Scootaloo has a family who just gives her a lot of freedom to spend most of her time with her friends.

My mind on the subject of Scootaloo as a homeless orphan = far too dark! :scootangel:
My mind on Rarity sexually and physically abusing Silver Spoon = wholesome family fun! :applejackconfused:

What the Hell is wrong with me! :pinkiesad2::pinkiesick:

1094136
I did originally plan for the whole mansion to burn down due to Fancy's "burn down the Gallery" plan, but eventually I decided that Twenty going on a killing spree while the mansion burned down was just overkill.

That's the only one of your guesses that was ever a potential plotline. A decent number of folks thought I would bring Fond Wish back, but his story was meant to be told entirely in the one chapter he appears in.

1096905

A lot of people called the Gaze = Twenty thing! I guess I didn't sufficiently hide it enough. Oh, well.

1094855

what are your opinions on unsolicited 'hey read this shit, it's good' things? Cause I've got some stuff that might possibly be up your alley ...

I welcome them! Feel free to send me whatever you like.

1094950

1) Yes. Like, at least once per chapter. Both in the sense of "Holy god how many hours of my life have I spent on this goddamn MLP rape fic by now what is WRONG with me?", and in the sense of "What the hell is supposed to happen next oh God I'm completely stuck how the hell do I get the characters to where they need to be by the end of the chapter ARRGH."

Having said that, I really enjoyed writing this story. Aside from the occasional complete collapse of my psyche.

Do you personally feel Catharsis or remorse when you get to writing the 'comeuppance' event for one of the utter bastards you've populated the circle with.

Well, writing utter bastards is a funny thing. Taking Fancy as an example, I felt bad about some of the things I had him do, but didn't feel that awful, because I knew Fancy was going to get his throat crushed in long before it happened. His death was figured out before A Silver Sky even began, so anytime I felt guilty about having him do something awful I was able to remind myself that he wasn't going to get away with it in the end. A lot of the Circle members were approached similarly.

Then there's Rarity, who is as horrible as most Circle members but such a focus character (and so FABULOUS) that she comes off as more sympathetic. Because I had gotten into her head a little more (explored her miserable childhood, her regrets, etc) I didn't feel too bad about the things she did, even though most of them were awful. The one major exception is when she kicks Silver out at the end of Twisted. I felt awful after writing that. I had to force myself not to rewrite it to give Silver a happier ending (if going back to live in a foal molester's basement can be considered happy.) :unsuresweetie:

if it's not clear, just picture Silver Spoon with a big, round tummy but not from over-eating

Yeah, if I ever write this, that will happen.

My thought is that Scootaloo's parents are alive but very busy and not very attentive. They love her, but they're not around very often, which is why Scoots is desperate for a big sister figure to look up to. Considering that "I'll do ANYTHING you want, Rainbow Dash!" is a canon line, and her amazing glee at being asked to take out garbage for RD, maybe Scoots could form some sort of submissive foal club with Silver Spoon. And possibly Happy Tune, if they can keep her from humping everything in sight.

How do you feel that so many of your OC's are becoming so well received? Do you feel happy that people are remembering them? Or do you feel that they are draining attention from the lead characters?

Also is Peregrine, Dewdrop's dad? Because in Twisted, Shamrock believed the Pegasus from the Gallery got her pregnant.

Usually I'd name just one OC who took off with fans (the same way Derpy took off for bronies) but for this fan I have been oddly taken with all your named OC's.

Indiago, Fond Wish, Aurora, Peregrine, Triage, Twenty/Gaze, even Happy Tune have become classic in my mind. The only OC I haven't felt a connection to is Styngian. For some reason I really don't feel strongly any which way about Styngian.

Ok, totally not related to pretty much anything here, but could ya give your opinion of something I intend to include in a fanfic of my own?
Scootaloo, upset because bother her friends (Apple Bloom and Sweetie) are now pregnant and are in love with someone, is mad because she's left out of the 'fun'. After an encounter with Rarity, where something goes wrong, she finds that she's now a futa and freaks out a bit. Already in an unstable state, Silver Spoon comes along, and deciding to follow in Diamond Tiara's hoofsteps, starts to tease Scoots, not knowing what's got her all worked up. In the end, Scoots just jumps Silver, and ends up breaking the poor filly into a pregnant sex pet. //dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/Scootaloo_lolface.png

Yes? No? Am I a horrible brony?//dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/shrug_Twilight_Sparkle.png

so what is the best fic you have ever read? (doesn't need to be about ponies)

How do you feel that so many of your OC's are becoming so well received? Do you feel happy that people are remembering them? Or do you feel that they are draining attention from the lead characters?

I'm very happy with the reception they got! I tried not to create OC's unless there was a role in the story that I didn't think could be filled by a canon character. Their purpose was always to help support the main cast and move the story along, but I also wanted them to be fully realized characters in their own light, without taking over the story. It's a tough balancing act, and sometimes I was nervous when I gave them extra attention (Aurora's death and Twenty's rampage being the big examples.) So I was really happy to see that people liked them! And that they didn't overwhelm the narrative (at least as far as I can tell.)

I was actually pretty unsure when I killed Aurora. I was worried the reaction would be, "meh who cares, she was just an OC." But the response was the complete opposite of that! I was really thrilled with the reaction to that chapter.

Incedentally, I have noticed that Styngian isn't as popular as the other OC's. Perhaps his status as ageless all-knowing dragon sage makes him a bit hard to connect with? Incidentally, whenever I write dialog for him I can't but imagine Patrick Stewart's voice.

Also is Peregrine, Dewdrop's dad? Because in Twisted, Shamrock believed the Pegasus from the Gallery got her pregnant.

Yep. This is meant more as a tragic detail to Peregrine's story than a plot point. Due to the significant number of female Circle members, Peregrine isn't the only Gallery colt who has a kid out there he doesn't know about. :fluttershysad:

You had me at "pregnant sex pet." At this juncture it's utterly pointless for me to pretend I'm not a huge perv so I may as well run with it. You managed to hit all my fetish buttons pretty damn expertly, actually. Hats off to you, sir. Now please write this.

so what is the best fic you have ever read?

Perhaps surprisingly, I don't read all that much fanficition. But my favorite would have to be The Circle of Friends, a short fic that always gets me right in the feels. It's an older fic from season one, and it might come off as slightly cliche now, thanks to the tidal wave of "Immortality Sucks" fics that the fandom saw in the wake of Alicorn Twilight. But this story predates Magical Mystery Cure by nearly two years, and is still the best portrayal of the concept I've seen.

Now that Tarnished Silver is almost over. Are there any big scenes or chapter ideas you would have wanted in this story but where unable due to time restrictions or because they slowed down the plot. You know deleted scenes! Like a Director! :raritystarry:

Maybe you had a scene where Pinkie Pie was originally in it. Or a scene which covered Spikes life in the Dragon lands. Or where Fond Wish fell in love with Happy Tune and ran off to Paris? :trollestia:

There was going to be a whole sequence with Pinkie Pie visiting Rarity in prison, in order to show that there was still one pony in town (beside Sweetie and Silver) who still loved her. But Rarity already had three prison visitors (four if you count Trixie) and that seemed like plenty. Pinkie's dialog from that scene was compressed into her letter, which I think made the whole thing more effective anyway.

Congratulations on completing Tarnished Silver. It is truly an incredible work.
I do have a few questions though:
1. Have you ever considered writing comedy or lighthearted work?
2. Who is the Mare the Silver Spoon ends up with at the end does she have a name?
3. Was the First Circle so Cruel that it made Fancy's Tenth Circle look like wimps and pussies?
4. I found Celestia's punishment in Chapter 28 bad enough, do you believe you were a little tough on Celestia by having her lives though all ten Circles?
5. Did Fond Wish ever find a happy ending?
6. What happened to the Dream Family? Especially DewDrop (Best Baby Ever)!

1116577
1. Yes! Although the subject matter of Tarnished Silver made it hard to put much humor into the story, I do enjoy writing comedy, so I'll probably give it a shot at some point. There's a decent amount of humor in Many Loves of Pinkie, as well (especially compared to the other stories occurring in this universe.)

2. Well, she has a brownish coat, red mane, aggressive personality and Silver mentions that she's moving to Manehattan soon. Could it be...?

...but seriously, it's left vague because I didn't want her to steal focus from Silver and her monologue. She's whoever you think she is.

3) I wouldn't say Fancy's Circle were a bunch of wimps and pussies when it comes to being cruel. But as mentioned in the last chapter of Twisted, the first Circle lived in a time when it was believed that the sisters had abandoned Equestria (Luna by going mad and Celestia by giving up her duties), and a lot of ponies had given up hope. This caused a few ponies to give up all trappings of morality, engaging in horrible acts of cruelty as an outlet, and those were the ponies who eventually created the Circle and turned their sick acts into a "philosophy." Thus the first Circle was the most evil one, because they really believed in what they did, whereas most of the others were just bored sociopaths with too much money, power and free time. Fancy's was not the least evil, though. I like to think it falls somewhere in the middle.

4) I think it's impossible for me to say. How can one possibly come up with a punishment that matches what she did? How fully should she be held responsible for abuses she allowed to happen but did not directly cause? You could argue that it's a horrible and unjust punishment. You could also argue that the 150 or so years she'll be dreaming is just a blip in Celestia's endless life and thus not nearly adequate. I'd rather let each reader decide this for themselves.

I didn't really ask myself "what does Celestia deserve?" so much as I let the characters guide me to this outcome, if that makes sense.

5) Fond Wish's ending happened in chapter one. So...no. Sorry.

6) Remember how I said I'll probably post the occasional short story from time to time?

Well, that's still true. :raritywink:

Hi HamGravy, I've been reading over some of the earlier parts of the series and I have a few questions about the big timeline of the series.

1. In Rarity's Garden Rarity hates her parents. In another Dark Equestria story it's suggested that Rarity kills her parents. What about this story? What happened to Rarity's Parents? Did Sweetie Belle remember anything about her parents? Or has Rarity been caring for her since she was a baby?

2. How much time in total has passed from the point in Tarnished Silver where Diamond is Raped to the point where The Gallery is Liberated? I'm guessing only 9 to 10 months have actually passed, and out of that time 3 or 4 weeks Silver was trapped in Dead Weight Alley.

3. If all the foals were about 8 or 9 when the Gallery was liberated, then by the finale the foals are about 17 or 18? Also I'm guessing Rarity was about 22 or 23 when the series first began and would be close to 30 when the story ended. Do these numbers seem about right?

1122279
1) Rarity mentions what became of her parents in the second to last chapter of Silver Sky, during her first-person sequence. The other DE stories aren't really connected to this one anymore (it started out that way back during the first two, but by the time I got to Twisted's third chapter I'd decided Tarnished Silver was its own separate universe) so while Rarity might have killed her parents in another DE story, in this one she basically let them be consumed by their own misery.

Sweetie was maybe a year old when her mom died. She doesn't remember any parental figure besides Rarity (and later, Twilight.)

2) Silver Spoon lived with Rarity for about six months. A week takes place between Tarnished Silver and Silver Spoon's Mark; the bulk of the remaining time takes place between the end of that story and the start of Twisted. Silver was eight when the series began, but turned nine at some point in that period.

Twisted takes place over the course of a couple of days. Then two months pass while Silver Spoon is in the alley. Roughly another month passes over the course of the story, leading up to the night of the broken Circle. So not counting the final chapter, the story occurs over a nine month period.

Fictional timelines are magic! (no, really. Just ask the Zelda fandom. )

3) Yep, that's correct. Everyone is about college freshman age now (and Sweetie is about to become one.) I guess it's a little confusing since three of the four already have careers going, but since ponies have magic butt tattoos that tell them what jobs they should have, my guess is that many of them don't bother with college unless their cutie mark relates to something that requires higher education (or they're just studyphiles like Twilight.)

I have a 3 questions for you not relating to Tarnished Silver, but just to MLP in general.
1. If you were turned into a pony and teleported to Equestria (and you had to take on a new name) would you choose HamGravy as your pony name? :duck:
2. What type of pony (Earth, Pegasus, or Unicorn) would you want to be?:raritystarry:
3. What would your cutie mark be? :raritywink:

1. No way. I don't even particularly like this name. It just kind of stuck.

2. I actually quite like Earth Ponies, but I doubt I'm outdoorsy enough to be a good one. So a Unicorn. Yay magic!

3. A piece of paper with a pen. The paper reads, "And then they all got raped. Later, there was crying."

It's been one week since A Silver Sky ended. If you told me a year ago that I'd have an addiction to Foal Rape Drama Stories, I'd say that you'd be crazy. :pinkiecrazy: But here I am one week after the end of a Silver Sky, going into foal rape withdrawal. Maybe if I write the words "Rarity Rapes Silver Spoon" on a piece of paper, set one side on fire, and try to smoke it I can get my foal rape fix? :pinkiecrazy:

Anyway, any new projects?
New Short Stories about Ponies?
Writing Plans over the summer?

Equestria Girls doesn't come until June 16, University starts again in September, and MLP:FIM season 4 Starts in early 2014! :twilightoops: With Season 4 being so far away I hope there will be just a little more pony stories to get me through until January 2014!
