Cadance of Cloudsdale (so far) now in Spanish!

Thanks to the generous SPANIARD KIWI, the text of Cadance of Cloudsdale so far is now in Spanish! Mr. Kiwi has done a tremendous amount of work translating many of my stories into Spanish, but this goes above and beyond. If you're curious, you may visit the project so far here at this

    Happy Cadance Day 2024!

Things feel a bit subdued today, due to the coincidence of Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday through a quirk of the liturgical calendar. It is somewhat difficult to juxtapose the splash of corporate-encouraged love with the festival that literally exists to remind us of our mortality. The pink of Valentine's washes against the purple of Lent. So I'm in a pensive mood, more so than usual on this

    Ciderfest is a wrap!

Just got home from PVCF and it was an amazing con experience! The minific-based ARG that circulated around the con the whole weekend was high-concept, and I was worried about engagement, but everyone seemed to really get into searching out the hard-to-find stories concealed around the convention hall (in places as obscure as "the desktop wallpaper on one of the monitors in the video game room,

"An Unepic Pony War in the Non-Distant Future"

It's no secret that I love me some princesses-being-silly action. Some of my favorite bits in fanfic involve the Royal Alicorns acting a little goofy, whether it take the form of sock-related bets in Bad Horse's "Sisters", overwhelmingly outsized custard-and-jam food fights in Ghost of Heraclitus's "Whom the Princesses Would Destroy" or outright laying traps for one another in TheVulpineHero01's "Behind Castle Walls". I think what I find particularly touching is that this is more than just a couple incredibly bored immortals acting childishly; it's a very real safety valve for the titanic stress of being a goddess incarnate choosing to share quarters with others of your ilk. Dangerous things happen if you don't let off the steam every once in a while. Nightmare-grade dangerous.

That said, it's very heartening to see Equestria's two younger alicorns, Cadance and Twilight, getting a head start on their healthy immortal-grade prank wars in anowack's "An Unepic Pony War in the Non-Distant Future"; the Ladybugs-Awake sweetness can only take those two so far, after all. Anowack's story has an appealing, engaging style and nice polish, and I think it's an excellent first fic from a brand-new author here on FiMFic. Check it out, and I think you'll see what I mean.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Preemptively upvoting (since I saw that this came out very recently, about four stories above my new one), and will read later this week when I get some free time back.

Don't forget Slice of Life by Dawnscroll. Very much food[1] for thought, and has some of the most epic battle scenes ever to occur in the kitchen.

(1) If 'food' can be defined as a limp leaf of lettuce and some mineral water.

Perpetually on my read-later list! I will get to it, some day! :pinkiehappy:

Princesses being silly? Excellent. //dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/discord.png

Nemesis indeed!

<shakes fist at you>

My first time in the feature box! My first time at the top of the feature box! And to which story, one must ask, do I lose my esteemed position? To the one promoted by Skywriter, immediately after my story entered the feature box!

A nefarious plot, to be sure. Princesses always trump schoolfillies, do they not. It's just a matter of getting ones pieces in the right configuration, so the princesses are there to do their trumping.

(No, you don't really need to respond, but I figure it's incumbent on me at this point to go around making generally villianous speeches and posturing. I suppose this is basically just tl;dr "Curses, foiled again!")

To be fair, all I did was provide a little exposure. Anowack earned the likes and faves and stuff all by himself. :pinkiehappy:

But, yes, by all means, if being filled with rage works for you, go with that!

Slice of Life is excellent; it certainly deserves to be on any list of greatest Silly Princess stories.

If it helps you any, I quite enjoyed your story, and spent a good portion of yesterday evening obsessing over our comparative views/likes. :twilightsheepish:

And I guess this is a good place to publicly express that I can't thank Skywriter enough for giving my story a tremendous boost by promoting it here.

As have I, as have I. :raritywink:

I started trying to read it last night, but I'm in a bit of crisis mode as it relates to school work over the next 3-4 days, and so it's hard to make myself focus in on something at 10,000 words. I'm really quite annoyed by this, because I really want to read your story.

Anyway, I got that top spot for a good 10 hours or so, I think, and I'm pretty happy with that. And I'm not about to feel bad about losing it to another good story (continuing to take Skywr— <cough> I mean, my nemesis's word for it). Especially when that story has an upvote-to-downvote ratio like you're running. Not a lot of authors pull off better than 50:1, I don't think. I was pretty worried when Skywriter boosted it that it'd already be too late for the boost to matter, feature-box wise, but I was happy to be proven wrong.

And no, I don't regret preemptively upvoting the story that managed to get on the feature list and beat me.

(But don't tell Skywriter)
