Greetings fellow bronies of the world. While I finally managed to find some time in my upcoming graduation period in college to work on my next fanfic chapters, I wanna talk about something. You ever get an idea that you really want to see developed, but you don’t have the time to do it. Mostly cause your busy with other things or the fact that, like me, you have already too many fanfics to worry about doing this.
However, that doesn’t mean your ideas can’t be adopted by other people and let loose for them to create on their own. Seeing as I’ve got like 500 or so people watch me, I figured I might as well put these ideas in the hopes that somebody out there, or somebody that somebody knows, will take the ideas and go through with them. Why? Cause we get more fanfiction and that's always a good thing.
So here they are, my fanfic ideas that I will never do, but others are certainly welcomed to try.
1. The Doctor’s Daughter (adopted by TheFanGuy)
Idea Premise: Derpy had adventures with the Doctor and ended up marrying him, however due to a cosmic disturbance he left her to deal with it and never game back, most assuming he was dead except for Derpy. Before he left, Derpy had Dinky, who is a half-time lord, who wants to know more about her father who her mother doesn’t talk about until the time is right. Cut to her older age, add in an alien invasion, and the TARDIS returning with a message from her father, and you have Dinky ready to take her father’s place as the defender of time and space
-While some fics have explored the possibility of Dinky being The Doctor’s actual daughter, most don’t solely focus on her. I’d like to see a story that has Dinky, with her personality and Time Lord abilities, travel around Time and Space looking for her father while battling all his old enemies, making new ones, going on adventures with her own companions and maybe even regenerating once or twice.
-Why did I think of not writing this? Mostly cause I already got two series in the future planned out. Having a third one would just complicate things and I don’t want to be that overworked in the future, especially since I’ll be looking to have a job and all. If you want to write it, go ahead. All I ask is that you are as creative as the writers who write Doctor Who.
2. The Assassination of Twilight Sparkle (No longer up for adoption as I made this into a story on my own)
Idea Premise: A year has passed since Twilight’s coronation, but not everything has played out as Celestia has hoped. Many ponies fear that Twilight, combined with her insane magic power, will eventually overthrow the sisters to rule in her owns stead. Add to the fact that she became an alicorn and you have some jealous nobility as well, who aren’t very too keen on her political ideas that challenge the normal system they have. Things reach their worse when Princess Twilight is found dead in her room, assassinated. While everypony mourns, Celestia now has to find out who killed her prized pupil and how far she’s willing to do justice.
-This idea came around to me during the time of the whole “Alicorn Paranoia” that was going around near the end of the last season. When I started thinking of Bronies hating the whole Alicorn idea, what if there were Ponies as well? It’s a big political change to suddenly have another ruler, one who is not of royal blood at all as a matter of fact. Sure she’s the Element of Magic and she’s related to the royal family by her brother’s marriage, but she’s an Alicorn, and I like to think in Equestria that means a whole lot more than what it appears to be.
-On top of that, Twilight sounds like the type of politician who would want to have new changes for Equestria, changes that I’m sure stuck up nobility set in their old ways, would not be happy about. Add to the fact that there are some who might even blindly worship the alicorns, despite them not liking it, and having this new face come around might make others think she’s trying to mosey in. And you got a divided nation.
-But the main meat of all this is Twilight’s death, and the aftermath. Seeing Celestia torn that her plan to help Equestria has all but backfired on her and now she’s lost her beloved student, from her own ponies no less. She would be guilt ridden, thinking she may have asked her student too much and as such, feels responsible for all this (With a few others, IE Twilight’s parents, thinking the same thing). So she decided to personally lead the investigation into finding the assassins, going to a dangerous stage that nopony has ever seen her except her sister during the old days.
-It’s got political drama, family drama, tragedy, guilt, and more. So why am I not doing this? Well, it’s because I can’t make any side stories to this. I thought about focusing on Celestia more, but what about the others. What would they do if their best friend was assassinated? Take part in the investigation? There was also the fact that I couldn’t really think of any good build up to who the killers were in the end. Seemed too simple and boring. If you’re a good mystery writer, then I recommend this to you to try out and see what you can make of it.
3. Your Destiny Is My Death
Idea Premise: Why exactly did Twilight become an alicorn anyway? To replace her mentor? To control some celestial body in space? To become ruler of her own land. To Twilight’s horror, it’s none of those things. Her destiny is to end the burden of Luna and Celestia, but at the cost of their lives.
-One theory about this whole “Moon” and “Sun” moving this has been about Discord doing it a while ago to cause chaos. Why doesn’t he fix it now? Because being in stone and being hit with Elements twice has caused his powers to dwindle a lot. Kind of explains why he didn’t unleash unearthly horrors at the mane 6. However, Celestia and Luna had both searched for a way to restore the rotation of both the moon and the sun and have found their answer in Twilight.
-However, it’s soon learned that if Twilight does this, the magical connection between Luna and Celestia will be lost, resulting in their deaths. This gives Twilight a horrible choice. She could refuse to do this, leaving Celestia and Luna to continue their burden, which both explains they wish not to hold anymore, and hope they find another worthy pony in the future. Or she could end their suffering, but the pain of losing them would be great. It’s an idea that challenges immortality and morality as well. Which is the right thing to do or is there such a thing in this case? What are the aftermaths of both choices? If you’re into moral debating choices, I recommend writing this one.
4. A Day No Longer Perfect (Adopted by InsanityCorps )
Idea Premise: We all know stories about how Twilight doesn’t forgive her friends, teacher, and brother for their actions against her during the Wedding. But what if others also didn’t forgive them. Upon learning how Twilight was treated and distrusted by everyone, Cadance refuses to merry Shining Armor based on how quickly she not only abandoned Twilight, add in a pissed of Luna who feels her sister cannot learn from her mistakes, and you got three angry mares who want nothing to with them anymore.
-I’ll say this right now. I hate Shining Armor. Not because he was added in the last minute by Hasbro, but his character. Ignoring the Hasbro marriage desire, this guy not only refuses to talk to his sister over the past two years, especially after Discord and Nightmare Moon, but he also doesn’t tell her she’s getting married? Add in the fact that you would even go so far as to “Deny” her going to your wedding? Yeah, I get you were pissed off bro, but come on! I would never do that to either of my little sisters you prick! Yeah, so I hate Shining Armor. Sue me.
-But ignoring that reason, I am one of those people who things Twilight should have said something in anger against everypony not believing her. I found myself angry too; this is what you do with the mare who’s saved your nation twice? Jerks. While the “betrayers” mope about how they failed as friends, the three go through their realization of their relationship with their friends.
-Twilight would be pretty much how she is in all of these fanfics, depressed that her friends betrayed her. Questioning if Friendship is really as magical. Thinking of trying new things in her life. Cadance would question her relationship with Shining Armor, slowly realizing that her “prince” isn’t as perfect as she thought and wonders if their marriage is worth it. As for Luna, she’ll slowly realize that Celestia has yet to learn from her mistakes and never sees things in another point of view, making herself blind to the reality around her. What happens next is up to you if you decided to take this story.
5. Mare on Fire
Idea Premise: During what seems like a normal day at Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie suddenly changes attitude to a new customer and asks if she can leave early. That night, she kidnaps the customer from earlier and torchers her for a list of names. Names of ponies that raped and murdered her family and burned their farm, leaving her the only survivor.
-A typical revenge plot. Pinkie is the sole survivor of her family being broken into by a gang of outlaws who rape, murder, and burn her family. Upon seeing one of them up close many years, she loses it and manages to get the list of all their names before murdering him. What follows up is Pinkie going around murdering those who took everything from her, while avoiding the authorities and her friends.
-It’s a plot we’ve seen a million times in movies, but not with Pinkie’s character. I’d be interested if somebody could do something with this.
6. 24 hours to go
Idea Premise: Based on those old cartoon ideas, the base premise is that one of the characters in the show, any one of them, thinks through some means that they’re going to die in the next 24 hours. So they decide to do all the things they’ve always wanted to do before they die, resulting in hilarity.
-I might do this one in the future if I feel like it, but other people are welcomed to do so first
7. The Great and Powerful Guardian Angel (Adopted by Regidar)
Idea Premise: Based kind of on Yu-Yu-Hakusho, Trixie, having been freed from the Alicorn Amulet, struggles to find work with her magic act while trying to be “good” natured. Things take a bad turn for her as she loses her life, saving a child who was about to be run over by a loose carriage. An angel of death tells her that while she wasn’t good, she wasn’t bad either and is sent to purgatory to work for her heaven, eventually taking a job as a guardian angel after seeing the kid she saved and his family pray for her at her wake (Being the only ones there as a matter of fact). With her new angel friends, Trixie goes around the world helping those with problems to earn her heaven.
-While the start of it is like Yu-Yu-Hakusho, most of the story is like 100 good deeds for Eddie Mcdowd. Trixie, choosing to be an guardian angel, has to help ponies problems that deal with morality issue such s bullying, smoking, loss of a parent, running away and so forth. It’s more designed to be a learning experience with a heavy emphasis on doing the right thing. It’s also kind of a redemption story for Trixie, while she may have screwed up a lot in her mortal life, she can make it up with her afterlife.
-There would be camo shots of the cast, maybe even some of them needing her help. I’ve even thought of having Twilight Sparkle as Trixie’s “Mortal Contact”, a living partner who can help her in her missions. If you’re a Trixie fan and you want to see her do good things, try writing this story out.

Dude, I actually have number 2 (not exactly but close to it) as an idea for the future after I've developed better writing skill and technique. Not sure if I'll take the idea completely, but at least you may get something like it.
#3: "cry for eternity" kinda covers this - Not exactly ascending in the canon way, but Twi replaces Celestia as sun princess - the strain of a thousand years doing both sun and moon having shortened her huge lifespan. First thing that came to mind when I read the premise you had here :X

I'm actually following it - there's not much focus on the ascenscion part - one or two chapters at most, but mainly deals with how Twi deals with the coronation and Celestia's death afterwards. It's quite good.
sounds like good ideas, but I'm not taking any, not a very good writer... yet. besides, I'm preparing a couple of fics already

4. I think I reached my limit on stories about A Canterlot Wedding. And I have to say, I've read two stories with Twilight still angry at them, and Twilight sounded childish in both, it's hard to pull off. I've seen Cadance, but given that Shining did it for her, I'm a little skeptical that can work. Luna is interesting, though...

1 I sorta already wrote this. It's next in line for final editing posting once I finish up a CMC/Discord thing. There are differences, but the main one being it's young Dinky and she spends most of her time in the story in the Doctor's presence.
2 I was suddenly reminded of an odd idea I had about someone tying and failing to kill Twilight becasue she can't die.

4 I have no real interest it this, but I did think of a perfect explanation for Shinning not telling her. (BTW I assume they talk regularly off screen, just like how Twi visits her parents like a good daughter should.) Shinning delayed telling her about dating Cadence for whatever reason, but then suddenly realized they were dating for years now and still hadn't told her. He was then too terrified of her reaction to tell her and keeps putting it off. Until his wedding. Cadence is very annoyed by this, but doesn't do anything about it until she gets replaced.
5 And this is too dark for me to write
6 I could certainly have fun with this, but nothing comes to mind. Who knows though, maybe I'll get inspired at some point now that the idea is in my head.

Number four sounds perfect, a fioc based on two Gods of Equestria hating their husband/sister? You have my full attention, personally I agree with you, I depise Shining Armor and when I make Spike older (and a smoker, as I always do) he DESPISES Armor, so I'm happy.
It's fun and badass to write about, more so, Cadence has no real reason to love Armor, she's a bucking GODDESS, she's immortal and really has no need to be with a mortal depise it being canon.
I agree with idea number seven for Trixie is my favorite villian and it would be badass in seeing such a fic

Torture is what you meant, I think. All spelling aside, I am interested in 6 and 4. I probably wouldn't do four simply because I would do it for the lulz, making Twilight completely inept at murder and trying all sorts of things that should work, but don't. I just cant take alicorn Twilight seriously, which would be the story's downfall. (Crap that's three I was talking about)

I guess no one wants to do 3. I'll do it. It's a pretty good idea.
4:) I had an idea similar to this. The main premise is "How Season 3 Went Without Twilight", where a devastated and heartbroken Twilight calls off her relationships and leaves for another city. The story then proceeds through Season 3, focusing on how things went differently without Twilight around, as well as exploring the reactions of Ponyville in general to the "betrayal" of one of their most loved and respected citizens by those she trusted the most. It also explores just how far you can punish someone for their misdeeds before THEY become the sympathetic parties.
That's just the general outline, I can be more detailed, and I've already started some monkey pounding on my keyboard, but I doubt even a rough draft will be done anytime this century, though a co-writer could shorten that by a few decades
EDIT: Also, my viewpoints on Shining Armor pretty much match yours. He's a bad case of "Show vs Tell". Hasbro Tells us that he's an awesome older brother, but Shining Armor Shows us he's anything but. Blowing up during a drawn out argument, I could understand, but not consciously choosing to disown your own sister without even TRYING to reason with her or calm her down. While I don't hate Shining, I do agree he was VERY badly introduced. In the next two episodes he appears in, he doesn't even really serve a purpose, and while he finally proves himself in the Season 3 finale, it's a case of "Too Little, Too Late". /END EDIT
5:) Too dark, I think, I prefer a bittersweet ending at worst.
7:) Not a big fan of Trixie, mostly, though not entirely, because of those tight, stylish, leather pants the fandom has put on her. Honestly, I'd be more interested in Trixie redemption if those stories involved more actual redemption and character development, and less of her staying the same while the protagonists just stop disliking her for no reason, and MUCH less having Twilight fall for Trixie at all, let alone before she shows even a shred of redeeming qualities
