Extreme Nitpicky Trivia Help Wanted · 3:56am January 26th
I've finally begun work on that story I promised.
I need a bit of info for a minor touch, though:
Does anybody know if, through the entirety of MLP:FiM, any month in the Julian/Gregorian calendar has been named by any character in any episode whatever?
I'm prepared to make up month names, but if they use the same ones we do I won't bother.
I don't believe so
the names were never given , not even how many there is.
you are free to make things up as you go.
In S4E24 Equestria Games, Applejack mentions August in a countryism ("Made me sit up proud like a cornstalk in August!" to the CMC after their flag presentation), and several Apple Family countryisms mention June bugs, in addition to one of the ponies who gives Spike a present in S2E10 Secret of My Excess being named Junebug and addressed as such in dialogue.
5765166 I'll take that as definitive. Thanks!
Yeah, the show writers work really hard not to set anything different in canon that they have to track. That way they don't have to worry about continuity by calling a rabbit a smeerp.

That doesn’t necessarily mean they follow the same calendar rules -only that the name was used likely in recent relation to the term’s usage. Perhaps that calendar year had a named month of August in the summer. It’s a human convention to reuse the same names in the same order every year. Could be their calendar has a different order, week number per month, day number per year, etc. I think it was mentioned in canon that they have 7-day weeks, though.
…I could be overthinking it though.
5765181 Well, they did use the same days for the week in It's About Time, I remember all the fuss about Tuesday.
In the comics, there are calendars shown but I believe they come from other mirror realities, similar to how Equestria was able to get coffee in their world.
Neither ponies nor human!ponies speak English or any other language on Earth. They’re just being narrated in a way that makes sense to us. If the specific calendar isn’t important to the narrative, then by all means, use whatever is easiest.
This is the most in-depth examination I've ever seen on this topic. Check it out.

That said, they never mention calendar names, and seem to refer to months by moons instead of month names. I guess your guess is as good as anyone else's. :)
Considering the almost desperate desire to not allow a discernable amount of time passing in the show, there's no actual given. There's hints that the days are named the same (tuesday being mentioned in lesson zero) and the seasons seem to be the same (winter and summer for sure) but anything other than that is not really known. Hell even 'moons' doesn't specifically mean months as the time frame for the few times there's context doesn't really seem to match up.
The calender in lesson zero doesn't help all too much either. It SEEMS to show 12 day weeks going by every X being a tuesday.
Going by my own memory and the other comments, it seems like they use IRL months, because it was a show for 6 year olds and they didn't want to get too complicated.
That said, there's nothing wrong with that either way, but using real months would be my preferred
