id be honored to die as such

Conversion Bureau confirmed?

At least it isn't showing up as poop brown on the radar.

you eat the last cake what did you think was going to happen :trollestia:

Eh - Luna's been trying to kill me for a few days now...

(Buffalo NY portion of "BuffaloBrony" - see the Lake Effect snow bands and 2-3ft snow we got over the weekend, with another 2ft or so due over the next couple days... )...

this stuff's made in... New York City! :O

I STILL don't get how we can have record heats AND heavy snow.

Chalk it up to :raritydespair: being in charge of the weather around there.

Oof LOL! We got lots of snow, freezing rain on the future forecast, temperatures that feel like 11°F (some other counties getting a feels like 1°F 💀) and air temps of 2-3°F 🥶💀❄️

Wow, its snowing on Neptune.

Thats nowt, you should see what its doing on Uranus. :rainbowwild:

Cool! Stay safe though!

Hey, my entire state got the equivalent of Luna's mane, so we're even.

I don't think 6 inches of fluffy snow is going to be enough to kill me, though...even with the sleep deprivation.

"Git a rope." :ajbemused:

(Of course, Pace is now owned by Campbell's, which is headquartered in New Jersey, but I suppose "This stuff's made in... CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY!" doesn't quite have the same ring to it. :pinkiehappy: )

It's actually fairly simple - at least where I am.

"Heat" is actually "energy in the atmosphere". Now - all that energy has to go somewhere.
A LOT of it ends up in the water of the oceans. Which then evaporates and becomes humidity in the air.

"Storms" happen when warm (and nowadays WARM-ER) air with lots of water vapor in it hits cold air. Simplifying it - the higher the temperature differential, the larger the storm.

So, where does that cold air come from? Places like northern Canada and Siberia, where even "record heat" this time of year is 'fscking freezing' to everyone else (mostly because - due to axial tilt - the sun doesn't shine much - if at all. So temps go down and stay down).

Anyways - the Gulf stream, Coriolis effect, and such cause cold air masses to move around. (That - and the secret stealth Pegasus weather control squadrons... Canadian geese are actually a government conspiracy to hide the existence of the Pegasi. :rainbowlaugh:) So when cold arctic air meets hot humid air - storms happen.

For us here in Buffalo - we actually have a microclimate variant of that called "Lake Effect Snow". Historically - Western New York used to get whacked by a couple good lake effect storms a year. Then Lake Erie, being a fairly shallow but large lake - would freeze over by the end of December, leading to weather closer to what you see in the midwest. This year - the lake is no where NEAR frozen (it was actually 44 degrees on January 1st - record warmth). So when that arctic blast hit us this week, it sucked a LOT of moisture out of the lake and dumped it on us... Not the 7 feet of Christmas '22, thank Celestia, but enough...

So anyways - that's Snowy Weather 102, brought to you by BuffaloBrony (and the fine madlads at the Canadian Weather Factory with their evil geese. )

Climate change is affecting the stablity of the Jet Stream and disrupting the maintenance of the Polar Vortex inside it. Good little graphic here about it:

Sorry Estee, I'll ask the boys if they can adjust the machine.

But what does it taste like?

At least you'll have a glorious death. All I get is bone-numbing cold.

Is it timey-wimey, as well?

Hmmm..... Did Celestia sneeze?

Heh, I am almost an hour west of you.

It's -.2 degrees F on the Cumberland plateau in Tennessee this morning. And even colder where I work. I nearly got frostbite scraping ice off my car yesterday. Only 5-6 inches of snow though.

It was -19°F on the 13th, but it got better. Only -5 yesterday.
Edit: this is before wind chill btw.

Its a good thing she failed.

However, she has lived a long wizened life, she will not likely abandon her goal after the first attempt.
