The main reason is uncanny valley. When something looks human but not quite. A perfect example would be a robot trying to mimic being human, it looks unsettling. It's somewhat insulting towards the ponies, you have Twilight Sparkle there a beautiful unicorn and you can't embrace her just because she's not fully in human shape, even though she has all the qualifications to be a sapient-minded species.
I wonder if there stories that actually address a human being creeped out by uncanny valley when seeing anthro ponies? A portal opens up and and a normal (from the show) Twilight Sparkle is presented to him. He runs to embrace her, and leaves the creepy anthropomorphic ponies.
Honestly I get where your coming from. Sometimes Anthros can be a bit much. But I still love them. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't fuck with a Twilight Sparkle or Pinkie when they are in normal forms. It will just takes some getting use too.

I'm a bit surprised. I thought you would like anthros. One thing about anthro ponies, they make clop fics way easier. It is almost as though anthro was created specifically for sexually explicit material. I did a couple full pony x human clop stories and it just felt kind of odd. I like both ponies and anthro ponies but for clop stories, I prefer anthro.

I like anthro art, where it's just animals but they're people, going about their day. Kinda like Rocko's Modern Life, or Rock & Rule, or a million other works with anthro characters.
But I can't stand anthro ponies. I don't know why. I've skipped some really good stories because "oh, wait, it's anthro :( "

MLP FIM Ponies have better asses than anthro I find. When writing about the ponies in their canon forms I am able to visualize how they would look and feel in my mind much easier.

I agree. I've written one anthro story, but that was just to get it out of my system. I'll use anthro, but I won't commission it. Humans are better for this thing than anthro.
