Announcing: Suggest a Story September! · 10:58pm Aug 26th, 2023
Trying something a bit new and experimental, here, but it could end up being fun and a great way to give you, my wonderful, imaginative readers a say in what you want to see!
Starting now and until the end of September, I will be taking open suggestions on story ideas from YOU, my lovely and charming readers! If I like the idea, I'll write it up and publish it either on its own or in my anthology "Scenes From a Hat" and credit you for the idea! This is not for commissions or anything like that... it's a literal free-for-all! 💸
Here are my general requirements:
- The story idea should work as a one-shot. It can be a long one-shot, but depending on the suggestions I get, might need to stick to shorties.
- No clop or anything that would push it into "Mature" ratings. Sorry!
- G4 only. Nothing against G5 or the others, I just feel less confident about those characters and settings.
- Otherwise, just about anything goes! Any characters are fair game and any genre you like is possible!
My goal here is to communicate more with my readers and to get some creative juices flowing, and I hope to get at least a handful of stories out of this, so please feel free to make your suggestions below, and I'll do my best to make it come to life! If you're too shy to ask in public, you can PM me, but it really is more fun to post publicly so we can all see your ideas!

Oh yeah, I think I recall you mentioning this idea before. Well, since I am more open to suggestions for this event, I'll consider it. I've never written a mystery before, but it could be an interesting challenge! I'll have to think this one over!

Since an empire is defined as “an extensive group of states or countries under a single supreme authority,” I imagine the Crystal Empire must’ve had multiple colonies and outposts in its prime. It’d be interesting to see how such a colony would survive the disappearance of the capital. Especially if, when the Empire came back, its remnants of government tried to re-establish control of said colony (now an independent nation) to the tune of “we need to regain our past glory/identity,” with Cadence playing peacemaker. Now that I’m saying this, it doesn’t really sound like an idea that can be done in a one-shot, but maybe there’s something there that interests you.

Something with Tyrant Sparkle. Don't care what, can be a lighthearted comedy about Twilight being inexplicably evil, can be a tragic political drama about the hopeful optimist Princess Twilight gradually shedding her principles as the challenges of leadership weigh her down. I just wanna read some good Tyrant Sparkle stuff

This has a lot of potential. I see Twilight as going tyrannical to achieve what she believes to be worthy goals rather than her just going straight-up supervillain. I'll definitely think this one over!

The cast (Main6, New6, Spike, (Turing?)) gets invited to the main changling hive by Thorax and Ocellus for something they call the ZootZoot festival. Was something made long ages past to entertain the queens of the time, but as time went on it became a core gathering moment for changlings to just relax and chill. And every year, a performance is held that is lead by the head changeling (or someling the queen of the time chose) as they break out into dance and song. To the changlings, it is a core part of their cultural identity, but to non-changling visitors, the whole thing is....odd. Even to Pinkie. Flutters is fascinated as heck with it tho.

So, I was thinking pretty hard about this one and I think I have an idea for a story that actually works. The only downside is that it would be pretty big for a one-shot, so maybe a longer short story/novella would work. Still, I'm getting pretty enthused about giving it a try!
