We were somewhere around Ponyville, on the edge of the Everfree, when the Poison Joke began to take hold.

    Everfree Northwest 2022

I survived another con. But as much as I'm glad to be back home and in my own bed to recover; it still feels like it was over far too soon.

Child Abuse Is Not Part Of Pride

It sickens me that this needs to be said, but the pro-child-molestation crowd is at it again. I'm not going to write in depth about this particular incident, as others have already done a better job of that. I'll just link two blogs that I think tackle the issue very well.

    Aquaman's blog:

What is the actual point, you idiot

MrNumbers has made an excellent video that says a lot of things that I would like to say, better than I could ever hope to say them. Link below.

I was putting this off for a while, since I don't know if anyone else will care ; but I think I need to post something.

A little over a month ago deadrose, my wife of over 26 years, passed away at the age of 64 after a short battle with cancer. It was a rare and unusually aggressive cancer that was difficult to diagnose. By the time it's found, it's typically already in stage 4 (which was the case for her) and has an average survival rate of 5 months at that stage. She made it 7 months before the pain and complications became too much for her to endure. She spent more time in the hospital than at home during that period, but I was at the hospital to visit her every day she was there, and she was surrounded by family when she finally passed, so she knew how much she was loved.

She wasn't actively involved in the brony community like I am, but was a big fan of the show and liked going to the conventions (EFNW specifically), and we made it to a couple local meetups, so a few of you have likely met her if only briefly. Her favorite pony was Derpy Hooves -- she had Essential Tremor and really bad eyesight, so she identified with Derpy's clumsiness -- and she had a small collection of Derpy t-shirts and toys, including a plushie I commissioned as a Christmas present for her that she loved.

She was the best and most important person in my life, and I owe her more than I could ever say.

I don't really want to talk about it more than that; so I'll just say this: Take every opportunity to tell and show your loved ones how much you care for them, because you don't know when they could be taken from you by disease or accident; and keep in mind that no matter how much you are able to say and do, it will never be enough. A principle we both lived by every day, so at least I don't have to regret not doing what I could.

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss. Please, take care.

I'm very sorry, Batwing. Thank you for the reminder.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I will remember her in my prayers. (And reconnect with family, too.) Remember to take care of yourself, too.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

I’m sorry for your loss, Batwing. Please accept my condolences and know that I’m here for you. I can’t know how you’re feeling but please know that we all care. Take care and remember that you are in my thoughts.

My condolences, Batwing.
