This is one of those stories where I don't really know what to say about it. Thematically, it's not my kind of story, but it's very well-written and almost inevitable. Maybe like Biblical Monsters crossed with Five Hundred Little Murders although not in the way you'd expect. I'm spoilering that in case you want to be surprised.

It might only be a thousand worlds, but it packs a lot in those words. It's the kind of story that sticks with you.
