    Tradition

This one's particular poignant. Singing this on January 1 is a twelve year tradition at this point.

    So fun facts
    1) Did you know you don't have to be epileptic to have seizures?
    2) and if you have a seizure lasting longer than five minutes you just straight out have a 20% chance of dying in the next thirty days, apparently

Two Martyrs Fall for Each Other

Here’s where I talk about this new story, 40,000 words long and written in just over a week. This is in no way to say it’s rushed, quite the opposite; It wouldn’t have been possible if I wasn’t so excited to put it out. I would consider A Complete Lack of Jealousy from All Involved a prologue more than a prequel, and suggested but not necessary reading.

    Commissions Open: An Autobiography

Commission rates $20USD per 1,000 words. Story ideas expected between 4K-20K preferable. Just as a heads up, I’m trying to put as much of my focus as I can into original work for publication, so I might close slots quickly or be selective with the ideas I take. Does not have to be pony, but obviously I’m going to be better or more interested in either original fiction or franchises I’m familiar

    Blinded by Delight

My brain diagnosis ended up way funnier than "We'll name it after you". It turned out to be "We know this is theoretically possible because there was a recorded case of it happening once in 2003". It turns out that if you have bipolar disorder and ADHD and PTSD and a traumatic brain injury, you get sick in a way that should only be possible for people who have no

    EFNW

I planned on making it this year but then ran into an unfortunate case of the kill-me-deads. In the moment I needed to make a call whether to cancel or not, and I knew I was dying from something but didn't know if it was going to be an easy treatment or not.

... it's the natural evolution of Low Cost Cosplay :rainbowwild: (since I'm awful with names, I'll get this started with "Low Cost Scenography" :twilightblush:)

I…need context.. what is that? What am I looking at?

Okay, so, photographing glass is hard. A ton of how you see a glass shape is based on movement. Sort of like how a lot of your depth perception is based on the different speeds things move at relative to your head.

Actually, a better way to put this is to try taking a photo out the side window of a car sometime and seeing just how obstructed that vision is by all sorts of things. Your brain makes a complete image of what you're looking at by using a time dimension and filtering things out and iterating on what you're looking at by superimposing the memory of details on top of what you're seeing.

So stuff that looks super pretty in glass is a pain in the ass to photograph because most of those details only render from one angle of light. You've got to move your head slightly to actually 'see' what you're looking at. A photograph can't do that, you have to simulate that by getting a lighting setup that can do the details justice.

I had this cute little glass owl I just bought and wanted to capture. So I dropped an LED torch into the bottom of a roll of paper towel to hold it up and act as a focus, and then flipped a glass cola bottle upside down into it to act as diffuse and as a stage. So all the lighting for this little guy is coming from below, through the glass bottle, to get the clear refractions I want.

Jarritos is the best soda ever made.

Indeed it is, and I wish they had a sugar free version. :fluttershyouch:

MrNumbers, that picture is gorgeous, and thanks for showing us how the sausage was made. :pinkiehappy:

Genius! :pinkiehappy:

If it's stupid and it works

"...then it's still stupid, you just got lucky."

That's how I've always had that particular line ended when I mention it to someone :rainbowlaugh:. And, in some fairness, my personal experience with stupid ideas has borne this out as well, with every one of them squeaking to success (or not failure, not always the same thing) by a close margin.

But still, nice owl (once I actually figured out that this was what I was looking at).

Ooooooh…it’s an owl.

I'll admit it took me until the third picture to figure out what I was looking at, though now that I see it, the second picture is easily the best.
