Spent most of the day at Children's Hospital emergency room. Ankle-sock is coming off a bad case of influenza and decided to start puking uncontrollably. We tried treating at home and going to the regular clinic, but finally had to break down and go to the hospital. With a "one-parent in the waiting area" rule, I got to spend several hours freezing my ass off in the car. (Once we were taken back to a treatment room, I was allowed to join them.)
Late morning on Saturday was a good time for us to go; only had to wait three hours to be called back. I can understand the one-parent rule now: When we left, the waiting room looked like a mosh pit at a sardine factory as served by the Tokyo subway.
Thankful to be back and home, and very thankful for the overworked, underpaid folks at the hospital. Pediatric specialties get the worst pay in all of medicine, yet they still put up with the hours and the illness and the karens and still come back the next day. Those folks are heroes, and I say that in a way only a scared and relieved parent can.
hope the little anklet feels better soon. Barfing when your stomach is empty is one of the worst things about that type of flu.
Lucy hopes the best for you! 🔥

It's weird when a mixed metaphor works this well.

Rule of three.
Two or four? Falls flat.
Three? Boom.
Ack! I hope he's over it quickly!

Apparently, there are an awful lot of various nasty respiratory viruses going around in America, and pediatric clinics and hospitals are jammed with patients. Glad to hear your kid got help, and you all escaped before the throng turned into a crush!
Glad to hear nothing got any worse.
Glad ya'll are okay. I have two nieces who are in the care field. One is a nurse at a hospital and the other works with the elderly. It is low pay and full of heart ache but they do their best.
I'm lucky I never had to deal with the one-parent rule. My first one was healthy as a horse, and with the rest of them when one got sick, the wife took them in for a doctor visit while I watched the remainder. That was a mutual arrangement, because the wife can rattle off the symptoms and exact time of appearance while I'm stuck with "Um, he started throwing up yesterday and the wife said to bring him here." (I'm so lucky to have her)
Hope she's feeling better.
