So starts the Cold War between Horpip and Spring. I get the feeling that these two are going to cause a lot of trouble.
back?! - back?? -- An interrobang is usually for showing incredulity and Spring seems more terrified/distressed here.
*****
At a guess I'd say that the illusions that shroud non-ponies gives a clear indication of their character and possibly the threat they pose.
I'd somehow managed to forget that Sweetie Drops is/was an agent for Celestia in the show canon.
HtM is clearly a threat to Spring, but he is at least bound by the lease agreement. In a way, Tabitha now seems to have a tiger by the tail. He's disruptive, but would be even more so if his lease were broken, since that would leave him free to act against the other tenants in his business with Spring. The beast on the second floor did warn her that not all potential tenants would be willing to play nice together, after all.
But the real treasure in this chapter is that Spring under stress seems more open to listening to what Coco has to say and seems to at least be moving in the direction of understanding that her words and actions are hurting Tabitha, who she professes to feel at least complimentary towards if not outright affection, in her own way. Clearly anyone not a fellow elf or immortal peer is little more than a beast to Spring, but she has an admiration for beasts. Perhaps someday she can find a way to express to Tabitha how she feels without making it feel like a back-handed compliment.
You can definitely tell its Spirit Central.
:sunglasses:
The Spooks are arriving.
Looks like Harsall the Decryer has arrived? Well, will have to see how things continue before treating him to cupcakes.
7571831 Fixed. I think Spring was warming to Coco nicely even before Horpip arrived. They were having tea and speaking as two people should. It's not perfect, what is, but they were talking. Coco doesn't have the power that Tabitha has as the Caretaker, and isn't a fae creature, but she is even headed and kind and being a source of gentle positive vibes is also a plus.
Maybe there's hope for that family?

Like adults, one might say. :PrinceSilverWatch:
And there is always hope, but that grants no immunity to turmoil and strife in the pursuit of happiness.
...and in my head is playing!

7571953 I think David has already given the reason in story, mummy hormones may be softening up Spring to her co-residents a lot here, the sudden appearance of Horpip (my spell checker wants to change this to Hornpipe for some reason) has really rattled her calm that she was building. Wonder if they will get over the differences as Horpip doesn't seem to be really nasty to her, just looking down on one that has fallen from grace, or will it escalate. Next if will be if an external of the building battle is coming, will Spring hold off long enough for the baby to be born first? Worrying that she was ready to unload force in Coco's apartment in her vicinity or was that a defensive thing in part?
That's something that seems to have been lost amongst the elves and gnomes. Friendship can be an incredibly formidable force.
Spring seems to be improving, it can't be easy to push against your upbringing like she is.
Horpip is going to be a dick, isn't he? First impressions indicate he'll be worse than Trixie...
Keep going! ;)

7573124 You're chasing me around, hounding my typos!
Oh a gnome! They're hilariously arrogant.
H..h-ha ha. S-see? Hilarious.
Secret Agent Sweetie Drops? I'm rather certain that there wasn't anything like that in the previous story... hm.
7575563 It never came up.

Wow. I never thought I would read about a character I liked less than the elf bitch. I was wrong.
