As always, good chapter.
I feel pretty bad for Tabitha at this point. It feels like she's being punished and she really hasn't done anything to deserve it.
I'm sure, given what we've seen of her character so far, that she'll soldier on, she may not even evict Spring. I'm going to hunker down into wait-and-see mode and keep reading until we find out where things are going.
The suspense of wondering what happened to Tabitha continues! Why must you do this to us! XD
7468977 How do you figure? She could have avoided this a lot of ways. The Text gave one.
She could have clearly and firmly declined the boon in the first place. As another action.
She could have asked for almost infinite things, many of which leave her unchanged entirely if that's the goal.
This was not something unavoidable, just something she did not avoid. She walked down her path. Unlike Silver, she isn't lamenting a cruel world while she walks.
I put my money on her being a satyr.
Hold up, let me get into my announcer voice... *clears throat*
There we go! So, Luna met Tabitha before she met Silver if I'm tracking the timelines right.
If your going for olde style language fair enough, but should that be 'makes'?

Tabitha the Satyr?
Please, she has trouble with Sarcasm.
Its a good thing near deific energy forms dont interact teh same way as bags of holding etc. then again that probably how the building go their in the first place.
7468986 Things sometimes happen, even if you miss making a decision on the outcome, if you are able, it's best to just roll with the dice.
Hm, this chapter was largely transitional, with things reacting to what's happened and setting up what's to come. In that regard, there's comparatively little to comment on.
Tabitha has a conversation with the Text, who seems oddly forthcoming about how happy it is that Tabitha is entertaining for it. I suppose that's its version of getting onto an online forum and posting a comment about its new favorite TV show, save that in this case it was "rewarding" Tabitha for being so enjoyable to watch. I'm finding slightly irked at the Text here, since there's an inherent condescension in treating someone else's life as your own personal entertainment...and, despite what some people have said, this isn't a situation where Tabitha is completely to blame for what's happened to her. The Text snatched her out of her world with not even the meager explanation of its rules that it usually offers most of its victims. She might have been the one to react to the hand she was dealt, but the Text was the one who picked the cards she was dealt to begin with.
Razz was putting his doormat-self front and center again with Trap, and it was adorable in a sad kind of way. Obviously his friend meant well, but I disagree with Razz's feelings that he needed to make himself a guinea pig just because no one else would. For one thing, that's not a good reason unto itself (e.g. you don't put yourself in harm's way just to cheer someone up...and why can't Trap experiment on himself more and others less?). Moreover, it's clearly going to impact Razz's health, if not his ability to keep doing his new job. Doing that once or twice is a favor, but this seems more like a co-dependent pattern...which is not at all surprising.
What's more surprising is Luna's assessment of the apartment building. We're finally starting to get some answers about the nature of this place! Her analysis was quite tantalizing, all the more so in light of Coco's revelation that the paperwork for the building seems to have adjusted itself to whatever is cloaking Tabitha's real form to non-residents. Given that Luna probably won't let this go very easily, I have to wonder if more answers will soon be forthcoming...but at the same time I'm a bit nervous. It's still early in Silver's story, but Luna is a key player in it; if she delves too deeply into Tabitha's business, we can start to get closer to a crossover, and that will be a problem, since it will bring up issues of "why isn't this in Silver's story?" So obviously, Luna is going to need to be run off somehow in the very near future.
Perhaps that will be something to do with Spring's unwanted boon? Or maybe Spring herself will do it? Her unfettered condescension towards ponies will likely clash rather poorly with Luna's insistence on royal privilege. One can only imagine what would happen if the two of them tried to have a conversation...
7469036 Fixed!
7469062 That's odd, the Text is usually so polite and helpful...
Things are gearing up to be sure. With Luna's arrival and Tabitha's awakening both feeling pretty imminent, it all has to come to some kind of head.
Will it be a good one? Will Luna explode in a dark-hued fury?
Just what will Tabitha look like?
Other readers came up with 3 possibilities, though I see more. What do you see?
7468986
I hope this doesn't come across as complaining on my part.
Tabitha was never given enough information to make an informed decision with regards to this boon. Her request for more information was deemed insufficient, and by the time she did finally come to understand the situation it was too late, her one request, made under duress, was denied.
It feels like she was set up to fail this test. That is perfectly valid from a story telling point of view, but it's something that resonates with me on a personal level and so I sympathize and feel bad for her.
Maybe it will be ok. Maybe it will be something she can work with. I'll wait and I'll see.
7469079 In terms of what I think Spring's "boon" was, you mean?
Well...Spring's final words to Tabitha were "since you steadfastly refuse to select one, I will assume either would please you. Horse lover--" That seems to suggest that she was juggling two possibilities. However, I'm uncertain if that was in regards to which sex she thought Tabitha preferred (e.g. she'd previously been thinking that Tabitha was attracted to either Razz or Coco), or if one possibility was being pregnant (e.g. she offered to give Tabitha a child with her, despite them both being women), or something else entirely.
My guess is that she's going to split the difference. The Text indicated fairly clearly that there's some sort of form-changing going on, so Tabitha is going to have some sort of pony-based form...but Tabitha did seem to indicate that she didn't want to go full pony, so pony satyr isn't a bad guess. Or perhaps she'll have the ability to shift back and forth from pony to human (a were-pony)? Of course, she might also be pregnant now...
But really, it could be almost anything at this point!
7469079
Clues are fingers and fur but not pony so 1) anthro pony, donkey, zebra or other equine?
2) Anubian?
3)Minotaur? (that would upset Razz)
4) Anugyptian?
5) Just plain old human but with a lot of fur?
If I think of any more I'll get back to you.
7469079
I hope Luna explodes... Spring has been frustrating me and I want someone to knock her down a peg...
Appearance? I'll try for a unique one! Centaur! Er... pony centaur, so smaller than a normal one.
Nice Story, but one flaw.
"Luna tried to not intimidate the perfectly-normal looking unicorn mare."
Coco is an earth pony.
7469149 Oops!
Bucking Fae. I hope that elf gets a good thrashing by Luna when she finds out what she did to Tabitha.
7469079
I get the feeling you tend to take comments you like and incorporate bits of them where applicable to keep it fun to write.
7469239 Of course. I write each day's chapter the day before, after I casually browse most of the comments, not to say they have no impact further than that, because they do.
7469079
Her nickname is Tabby so it would not be too surprising to see her as an Anugyptian Feline. However, Spring's repeated incorrect conclusion that Tabitha is a 'horse lover' pretty much eliminates that.
We get the feeling Text is expressing some pent up frustration.
Foot injuries are no joke, though with ponies it might be a bit more mitigate-able. Oh well, best testing occurs when done with outsiders!
Keep going! ;)
7469626 Razz is clearly an unhappy pone, but he isn't mad at his buddy.
7469668 yeah, such is the nature of ponies.
I could totally see Tabitha as a Purrsian, though considering this is Equestria and not Everglow, that is much less likely to happen, sadly. XD
what happened to Tabitha?
text can be rather sly at times.
7468977
Of course she's done something wrong, she made a Fae believe she was exploiting her generosity. That right there should be Darwin award worthy.
YOU DO NOT MESS WITH THE FAIR FOLK WITHOUT IRON, COLD OR OTHERWISE!
Lo siento pero la humana es estupida o algo?, un cuchillo en el cuello a quien se porte asi y asunto arreglado.
