I hope Dark Vision doesnt try scrying Pinkie Pie. I like her too much to just throw her in the Total Perspective Vortex like that. Certain other persons though.
Spring enters room, Tabitha enters Spring, Coco enters kitchen, Cocoa enters Coco?
Uggh, so why does Coco not think that Spring is awful already?
Which bit of causality is she missing? Presumably she's thinking "Well, it's not like Razz and I didn't fornicate with Tabitha suddenly, so maybe it's the same for Spring" without... realizing that Spring was goading Tabitha into it, and without realizing Spring sprung the transformation pretty much with the intention of having this happen down the line...
And, of course, Spring has been meaner than Dark has been... just less blatant.
Spring has basically acted as a criminal. Magically forcing changes upon people, then taking advantage of the psychological effects of that change. If that's not illegal, then it's a "we didn't expect people to be violated in this way, so there wasn't a law against it" or "technically you signed the contract, even though it was without understanding what the contract entailed, so technically you said it was okay so it's not illegal" legal.
7552761 Is that all you took from it?
Spring got lucky there and she knows it. Hopefully she takes Coco's mercy and turns over a new leaf fully.
Spring nearly broke her contract, she needs to tread more carefully than that if she wants to carry out her devious plans. Still convinced she's just on the dark side of the edge of trust. I wonder what favour she wanted from Coco?
'pronounced' might be better? Couldn't spy any more cocoa loving typos, but hark, I hear our Dame of the Dictionary coming now. All hail Daremo! Surely she'll net the grubby little @#$#'s (Yes I'm being silly, in a better mood today)

Is this odd enough?
7552761 because Spring is an elf. She's an alien being that does not understand properly how mortals work. Not only that, she's young. Most likely a young adult whose own feelings she barely understands herself. She wants to feel alive, and Tabs makes her feel that way...
She has, in a way, fallen for Tabitha, and Coco can see that, maybe because she doesn't understand how alien Spring is. To our little pony the elf is akin to a young woman confused about her feelings and pregnant from her lover. How could she be hostile towards that? How could she not defend her from Dark, when the mage made the girl fall to her knees in fear and sadness? No good pony would let that pass.
Specially to a herd mate.

*****
An excellent chapter, rich with the golden shine of information and sparkling gems of plot and character development.
On the first reading, I was a little irritated with Dark for leaving without sparing two sentences to Coco to warn her of the dangers of speaking to Spring. It seemed almost like a petty act in return for Coco standing up for Spring. However, on the second reading I think it may be that yes, Dark is irritated, but Coco already has the largest piece of the key straight from Spring. So, since Coco is acting like a mature adult, Dark will treat her as one and allow her to operate freely with the knowledge that she already has and trust that she will remember and understand the full implications.
I hope that Coco does in fact remember to be cautious when speaking with Spring even as she offer kindness. Spring is dancing dangerously close to acting as unseleighe, the elf equivalent of the dark side of the force, and walking that path will potentially warp her mind and body if she proceeds too far.
The conversation with Bubbles, Trap and Razz was beautifully done. It shines a brilliant light on how much Bubbles and Razz have matured. It also shows that Trap isn't short on pony wisdom either.

7552831 Typos fixed! I'm glad you liked the flow as it took a bit of a turn there, but hopefully a logical one that makes sense with the story given so far.
7552884
Definitely! It confirmed one line of speculation about Spring, too.

You don't want to go further and say "Cake would draw many more fillies than vinegar."
or "Cake would draw many more princesses than vinegar."?
the ink is drying in odd shapes but good shapes.
Coco is heavily optimistic. That's not a bad thing, but it will definitely mean she's probably going to be the bridge to Terabithia.
... Wait, how did that typo happen? Whatever, leaving it in.
Spring is willing to change, her parents must be so extremely disappointed, but she could be a powerful asset...
Keep going! ;)

Congratulations, you win the obscure pun of the month award.
7555562 wait, for which pun? (there were two! )
I see what you did there.
Never thank the fae! It's like telling them they did you a favor without knowing it! Then they get all...huffy and demanding.
Conversely, if a fae thanks you...well, be careful how you respond.
Still hating the elf bitch and still feeling less than no sympathy for her whatsoever. The others are developing nicely though.
