Queen Chrysalis is found dead in Canterlot with her being freed from her stone prison, the ponies investigate who was responsible and it leads to surprising discoveries.

Fluttershy is tending to the animals in the forest one day and comes across a puppy mill, she begins investigating after she frees the puppies and discovers something sinister is going on.

A unicorn, a Pegasus, and an earth pony arrive into Ponyville looking for Sunset Shimmer, she is called by Twilight Sparkle and arrives into Ponyville and has to confront her past when she was competing to be Princess Celestia's pupil.

Twilight Sparkle is getting ready to rule and decides to pay Princess Celestia a visit at Silver Shoals and sees her arguing with a pony, her curiosity gets caught and she asks Princess Celestia who she is. Twilight Sparkle decides to investigate the pony and see who she is.

A stallion and a colt move into Ponyville after the stallion is fired from his old job, but strange weather begins to occur and the ponies discover there is some kind of magic at work.

Snap Shutter and Mane Allgood bring an orphaned and homeless colt to Scootaloo and her aunts as a temporary home while they leave to try to find a new home for the colt, and Scootaloo and her aunts quickly discover the colt does not behave like a regular pony.

Sunset Shimmer is editing a yearbook photo and looking at the portraits of the students, but sees one that looks very out-of-place, she tries to the best of her ability to edit the photo to make it look like a normal portrait.

Twilight Sparkle and her friends are exploring one day and come across a frozen unicorn, they unfreeze him and he sees the new Equestria and is surprised by how many changes there are, while some of his own behavior bewilders and surprises the others.

Sunset Shimmer is visited by someone from her past, and after an unfortunate experience, Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria to try to make amends with her.

Takes place sometime between The Ending of the End - Part 2 and The Last Problem.
