This takes place between Broken Wings and Fallen Angels.

Needless to say, Will's suicide took a heavy toll on Luna. She was now truly alone save for her sister. Contemplating her own action, Luna now stands upon a cliff, left to remember the short time she'd had with her son.

A mere day has passed since Will and Bill did same before Will's body is laid to rest. Will is then thrust into Erebus, which confuses him for a while, before remembering, with some difficulty, that this was where he was destined to go regardless. A mysterious figure emerges, offering Will the choice to move on straight to the afterlife, or to go back to the living world to perform one simple, not-so-simple task:

Capture escaped souls, evil ghosts, wraiths, haunting spirits, ghouls, ghasts,spectres, shadows, and the like. Simple really. Except he'd get no help from the ponies this time around; he'd have to go back as a wraith.

There is a plus: he's got a few friends whom he can call on to assist him. Though, that is offset by the fact that he's kind of amassed a few enemies in the world of the dead. He's going to have a very difficult time getting rid of these dead without much help. Essentially, it'd be another Thursday were he alive.

Twilight loves to discover, learn, and be amazed. So when rumours spread of ancient ruins existing in Equestria, and when a letter from the Princess of the Sun herself arrives with orders to check them out, she packed her saddlebags, said goodbye to her friends, and left. What she finds baffles her: a structure made of brick. It is similar in shape to some of the houses she's seen in Equestrian, but something is different about it.

And what she discovers inside will both amaze her... and frighten her.

Will was an ordinary soldier of the Space Army with an extraordinary secret. He believes that he'd just kill some monsters and get off the planet he and his company were sent to. But it all changes when he chances upon two helpless Pegasus ponies being attacked by a manticore. He suddenly gets drawn into a grand tour of Equestria, the country of ponies, meeting new ponies... and saying goodbye to a few as well. And what happens when he falls for a Pegasus with a yellow coat and pink mane? Conflicting thoughts, emotions, and actions assail Will as he tries to do what he thinks is right... and what this new Pegasus in his life would like.
