Starswirl the Bearded, the most important conjurer of the pre-classical era of Equestrian history finds himself as teacher and caretaker for the royal princesses, Celestia and Luna, following their ascension to alicornhood. How will he handle this new responsibility? And how will he handle the fact that his charges are, for all intents and purposes, immortal?

Twilight Sparkle has moved up in the job world. From sole librarian of Ponyville's Golden Oaks library to head librarian of the newly renovated Grand Equestrian Library in Canterlot.

What she did not expect was the responsibility that comes with that title as she soon comes to realize that a librarian not only deals with books, but also with the secrets that must not be allowed to be free.

These are the records of her journeys into the unknown to protect all of ponykind from the myths and legends that have been hidden away and must never see the light of day.

Feeling dissatisfied with the unending rule of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, ponies set about to forge into the unknowns of space. They developed technology that allowed for orbiting colonies to be built and prosper. And for a time there was peace, then the princesses launched their own space colony.

This act instigated a war that almost brought an end to pony kind. After years of fighting, an agreement was founded. which ever representative wins a fighting tournament wins the rulership of Equestria and the space colonies for the four years in between the tournaments.

It has been sixty years since that decision. This year marks the start of the fifteenth tournament for rulership. But, is there more behind this tournament then meets the eye.
