German Brony living in Switzerland as of now. Maybe not a good author, but atleast I try my best to at least improve on what I am able to do.

"Audience of One" is a concept of writing with the mindset of if just one reader enjoys it, then it's worth the effort. It just so happens my favorite fic on the site is also named that. It's adapted from a my dad's principle of behaving in a way where God is always watching, but the mindest for fimfiction helps to not go crazy trying to chase numbers. The only number I truly care about is the red bar. If that is high, then I probably messed up.

I see...interesting way to think about it. In the day and age where numbers mean as much as they do nowadays, it is refreshing to see those who would rather see their art enjoyed on its own merit rather than that it's purposefully written to appeal to pretty much anyone. Pandering to everyone ultimately makes no one happy, after all. Genres exist for a reason.

Thanks for reading. Hope you like what my brain came up with and it was good enough to distract you from whatever you're living through right now.

That's how I understood it, just about. I personally do like the touch with the book description. It adds a certain flair that I can't quite define, but it certainly adds to the experience.

Not worrying me none at all. I'm in Texan living in Japan, so I usually have pretty large delays in communication. :trollestia:

Hehe, fair enough. Doesn't helpt tha you are also chatting to a German with a sleep cycle that's pretty much all over the place due to shift work and personal preferences. :derpytongue2:

I'm asking out of a sincere desire to understand it.

Be that as it may, I mostly referred to myself with the "laying it on thick" because of the way I phrased my observation regarding your intent.

No worries. While genuine, I don't usually flower it up. It's written as a book dedication which can be cheesy.

This story is dedicated to the ever important "Audience of One". The one whose life may be made better with a momentary escape from reality. Whoever that one happens to be, I hope you enjoy this story. I will do my best to tell it. - Lord Regulus

Mostly just want to let folks know I appreciate their time even if I don't know them.

Also, I do apologize profusely for taking so long to reply. Between me working and not always checking as I tend to do my reading during quiet moments like my commute, on breaks or at home, I tend to miss notifications here. Especially since I'm not used to receiving any at all.

Ah, I see. Regarding that, there has been a quote there or something. Something about an "Audience of One" or something. What is the deal with that? I saw a fic named like that when I looked it up, but I couldn't quite make the connection. I'm asking out of a sincere desire to understand it.

Getting angry about something like that? People can be truly strange sometimes, I swear...

Well it's not at the top, but at the bottom of each first chapter. I usually put music that gives a feel for the fic or chapter in there these days and I don't want to give the notion that one needs to listen to said music to get it.

As far as laying on the politeness is concerned, mostly just do that to remain neutral on first impressions. Some folks have gotten strangely angry for assuming they favorite a fic because they liked it. Better safe than sorry on that one.:ajsmug:

I'm certain I will.

And again, I do appreciate it very much. Your intent is as sincere as it is noble from what I can tell, though I guess that may be laying it on a little thick.

Also, authors note? I have only seen the one at the bottom of the chapters I read so far and am not entirely sure to which part of it you refer to in particular. I am prone to miss obvious things though, so I apologize for overlooking something along those lines. :twilightsheepish:
