I almost forgot about this story.
Thanks for the chapter! And welcome back!

It wasn't supposed to take so long to come out. Thanks for sticking around.
Well... I can safely say that this was worth the wait.

I'm very glad to hear that. I was very concerned about the confrontation in the woods, which is what delayed the story. It's very validating to hear that it wasn't a complete disappointment.
What a tragedy, in the traditional sense. A combination of miscommunication and misinformation on both sides, combined with Twilight not understanding the optimistic Pinkie as well as she thought, made the unfortunate outcome inevitable.

Some say the best endings are surprising, yet inevitable
Not that this is the end.
Damn, gut punch after gut punch with this story. I wonder if pinkie will come back to haunt twilight?
Only time will tell.
Maybe it's for the best. Twilight's problem is with communication, she's too easily perturb. It's almost like last chapter, where she's tries to be understanding but quickly falls to anger.

She's gotten a taste of power and control, and it frustrates her to relinquish that newfound power. It makes her feel weak, like before
All I have to say is... OOF. Poor Twilight and poor Pinkie.
One day, Twilight, you will meet her again, and then you will have to make your deceit come true.
This was a very sad conclusion to the relationship that I'd been rooting for, but I can't say I'm surprised. Twilight really dragged her feet on the Pinkie front, and I'd forgotten all about the complication of Celestia killing her family. Honestly she should've gotten Pinkie out right after killing Spearhead, that seemed like the moment where Celestia started wanting to please Twilight.
Holy crap the serve...
Despite how horrible her father was, I really can't blame Pinkie either. Poor girl been tortured physically and mentally and just when Twilight was determined to get her back, Twilight's time spent with Celestia warped her character and degraded her judgemental instincts really. And now, thanks to the story of The Pie's demise, it ended in masterful heartbreak. Twilight has fully succumbed to The Empress, exactly how Pinkie said she would.

Very accurate analysis
Twilight had better hope Pinkie doesn't end up coming back. Would be a little awkward to find out that whole thing was a lie...
Nice to see an update on this fic, by the way. Meant to comment the day it came out, but it slipped my mind until now.

Considering how long this chapter took to come out, I deserved to be kept waiting a bit
That dagger...
Pinkie may feel a lot of things towards Twilight but I don't think she hates her, at least not with the same intensity with which she hates Celestia, and with what just happened, that hatred surely grew more. Then there's that dagger that was apparently left in the woods. It could mean something later on or nothing... I don't know, Pinkie could pick it up and appear at the most inopportune moment maybe in the middle of a ritual or in a vulnerable situation... she could use it to get to the Queen and attack her, it would be her chance to revenge. But I see it as something irrational, risky, and unlikely. I'm just being paranoid.
Impressed by Celestia's patience and how she gradually managed to gain Twilight's appreciation and support. Also the fact that intentional or not, she devised a situation where no matter what happened, she won on both options.
I don't defend or justify her actions and decisions, but I can't hate her, I never could, in fact, I find her fascinating and at times enigmatic.
And I can't help but feel a little sad about her situation because more than boredom, it must be terrible to be alone for so many years.
We all know you will do it anyway.
What I liked about the confrontation was the fact that both sides had reasonable and plausible arguments.I honestly sympathized with Pinkie, but at the same time, seeing what Twilight went through all these years, I also understand her too.I love when conflicts aren't just black or white, where you're forced to root just for one character, because that means the characters are developed enough to understand their reasons and motives.
And Pinkie probably just said those things about her father simply because she was spared the abuse, but I can't help but wonder what poor Maud, Limestone and Cloudy went through...
Well this is a good story so far, just caught up, hope it updates soon!
