Bullheaded: Perminate “You could get a mountain to move more than this guy.” Decisive choices are easier to make Abilities such as Coercion, Silver Tongue and Trick get -5 to working on you. Diplomacy is reduced by 10
In both this and the next paragraph, did you mean permanent after the trait name?
"Trait choices left: 3" "Powerful trait: take up two trait choices" "I notice all positive traits are now gone from the list of choices." 3 -2 =0 Emm no? did you mean "Takes up two additional trait choices" and "Extra 20 points damage taken from attacks until Weak trait is lost" the "Weak" isn't quoted
9111572 I think he needs to pick 2 positive traits and 1 negative traits, or else everyone would just pick positive ones only. (2 positive trait points + 1 negative trait point = 3 total trait points)
Honestly, to me taking Weak was a stupid choice but alright. I get that he wants a challenge but doesn't want to permanently cripple himself like I'm sure traits such as Proud, Blind and Envious would do, but if it was me I'd take Genius and Quick in a heartbeat.
Still, at least we'll see a training mintage ala My Hero Academia! I'm curious if he'll be able to cast magic as well.Maybe he can become an enchanter like his mom and enchant himself to have strenght? Woukd that work? Let's find out.
Here you can decided on your physical features and traits of you character. Please keep in mind when completed all choices are final.
decided -> decide your -> the you -> your
Abilities such as Coercion, Silver Tongue and Trick get -5% to working on you.
Consider rephrasing this. “-5% hit chance for abilities such as Coercion, Silver Tongue and Trick if used on you.” ...or something
+10 to all stats relating to magic and endurance
From a gameplay standpoint, this doesn’t make sense. A trait that relates to knowledge shouldn’t increase stats that aren’t related to knowledge. I can see magic, but not endurance.
- Powerful trait: take up two trait choices
This also doesn’t make sense. You can’t say “pick 3 traits” then say “this one takes two slots”. If you’re wanting to work it like that, use a point system. “You have 3 Trait points. You can put 2 into Genius to unlock it, leaving you with 1 remaining.”
HOLLY SHIT! That is so worth it! I click accept and see “Genius” added to my list of traits, as well as my trait choices go down to one. The screen changes slightly, and I notice all the positive traits are gone from the list of choices. A new screen pops up and I read that due to “Genius” Being so OP I only have one trait slot left so I need to pick one moret. I’ve always hated it when games were to easy so I’ll pick a negative trait to try and balance things out a bit. Looking over the Negatives I weigh the pros and cons.
Being -> being moret -> more to easy -> too easy Negatives -> negatives
This doesn’t make sense, for the third time. You can’t just lock all the positive traits for no reason. You also can’t say a trait is OP. Games are supposed to be balanced, so by having the traits get locked out, having your choices reduced and the game itself saying it’s OP, you’re contradicting that. Personally I’d rework this entire trait part. Also, the character says he decides to pick a negative trait to balance things out, but it says in the same paragraph that all the positive traits disappear. He has no choice but to pick a negative trait. It also doesn’t make sense to say he’s weighing the pros and cons. You can’t weigh the pros and cons of something that’s already considered negative. That’s like saying you’re going to weigh the pros and cons of dying. There are no pros, you’re dead. (Example only, don’t be that guy)
“You call that a punch? A thrown piece of paper hits harder than you.”
You don’t need to say it’s thrown, it’s implied. “You call that a punch? A piece of paper could hit harder than you.”
-10 points to STR, END and DEX
Above, with magic and endurance, you said the full words. Why are you using shortened versions here? Also for the fourth time, Dexterity has nothing to do with being weak. You could be weak but dexterous. So it doesn’t make sense for the Weak trait to make you less dexterous.
Reading the rest of the Weak trait’s stat changes, that’s some really big negatives. Personally I’d say that’s really unbalanced, that Genius is definitely not worth taking the Weak trait.
9747741 Thank you for the spelling corrections, I fixed those right away.

Really? So a Genius can't figure out the most efficient and optimum way to keep their body in near-perfect health? They can't figure out how to throw a punch or kick correctly? Genius encompasses more than just mental stuff.

One: Yes I can lock the positive traits, it's my story and I did it for a reason. Two: Yes I can say the trait is OP because it's my MC who's saying it, not the game. The game called it a Powerful Trait literally right above that paragraph. The MC is paraphrasing, adding flavor to the text, that's all. Three: While the MC is no longer able to choose positive traits he's trying to pick the 'lesser of two evils'. Four: Again, 'lesser of two evils'. These traits, both mental and physical, are ones that he'll either have for the rest of his life, such as Gregarious or will work past, like the Weak trait.
Above, with magic and endurance, you said the full words. Why are you using shortened versions here? Also for the fourth time, Dexterity has nothing to do with being weak. You could be weak but dexterous. So it doesn’t make sense for the Weak trait to make you less dexterous.

One: I specifically wrote, and I quote, "The STATS (As in multiple) RELATING to magic and endurance". Please pay attention. Two: So you're saying a paraplegic is just as physically strong as the average person? Being paraplegic in a game would be the equivalent of having a physical dex score of 0-2 but by your logic, since DEX has nothing to do with VIT or STR, they should be just as strong as any NPC. Please think your arguments through before you post them. Three: The Weak trait isn't permanent, which I also made sure was plainly known. As with many weaknesses they can be worked past and overcome with time and diligence. Long story short he won't be weak forever, that's why he choose it.
Wait, where’s the magic stat? You had the Genius give increased stats to magic, but there’s no magic stat here.
There is no magic stat. Magic is governed by INT and Magic regen by WIS. I never mentioned or hinted at a Magic stat.
Really? So a Genius can't figure out the most efficient and optimum way to keep their body in near-perfect health? They can't figure out how to throw a punch or kick correctly? Genius encompasses more than just mental stuff.
Actually, I personally would chalk it up to a shared mana/stamina pool - as usually presented, when a pony exhausts their mana pool, they're at the very least winded, and often just outright collapse. This leads me to believe that, contrary to the typical game experience, mana is rather fueled from stamina - as such, strictly speaking, INT should have as much influence over mana/stamina as END does. In short, his shared pool would have contribution from both INT and END, and the regeneration rate would be formed from WIS and again END.
It's a bit weird, but I can understand it to an extent. What would make a little bit more sense would be to have separate counters, but interrelated when it comes to magic (ie. using magic should drain mana, as fuel for the spell itself - and then stamina, as cost for casting it). That way it'd at least make sense from a purely aesthetical point of view, since he'd be unable to cast any spells right after running hard regardless. ;]
But as far as the argument - I'm more inclined to agree with Warrior Kitten here: it makes little sense for the Genius trait to affect endurance. Skills - yes! By all means! Being able to figure out how to keep oneself in top shape much more easily would fall under the purview of such a trait. But a direct influence to bodily functions?NOPE. It'd have to be an active Skill.
I also don't see anything about Perception anywhere. I assume its effects are split up and rolled into both INT and WIS? I don't know why, but I'm often bothered by the lack of PER in stuff... I'd like to have a reminder, from time to time, that the developers considered my ability to notice stuff, separately from my ability to understand it.
In both this and the next paragraph, did you mean permanent after the trait name?

Yes I did. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll fix it straight away.

Never to late to point out typos. Thank you for pointing this out, I'll get to fixing it right away.
I guess since "Powerful Trait" means "Genius" takes-up 2 slots, it must count as a negative trait.
9143145
That's an interesting way to put it.
9111596
I'm not familiar with Crusader King so no.

Indeed. Everybody had good and bad traits, the only difference was he had a choice on what his good and bad traits are.
Evil alway finds a way
am i the only one who gets warm and fuzzy feelings because it was Pinkamena who said it?
