The goal is to have another foal that turns out like Twilight and Shining Armor, yet they didn't have presents (and family) as amazing as these. One can only wonder how this impact everything.
7570314 No incest, just rejuvenation on Night and Velvet. The idea basically is "If your first two kids were this amazing, keep going! Buck like bunnies for Equestria! Make a whole litter!"
There's something kind of frustrating and vaguely hypocritical about Night Light and Velvet giving the kids a weirdly lengthy lecture about hiding things from them, mere minutes after they themselves refused to tell the kids about the spell they'd all be enjoying soon. Kinda leaves an uncomfortable taste in my mouth, both for the above reasons and because, narratively, it doesn't really accomplish anything to hide it as far as I can tell. It's either arbitrarily withholding information, or an intentional cheap tease, and I don't really care for either possibility.
(I can only imagine what the spell in fact does is directly translates the pain of childbirth into orgasmic pleasure, and if so, WOW that is a weird mental image, you'd pretty much be almost literally ejaculating a baby.)
Fun baby shower otherwise though, nicely inventive gifts.
7571041 I'd say it most likely has to do with elasticity and pleasure. Enough to make childbirth being something to look forward to, If you get celly's drift
7571041 familiar: A creature or being brought into the world by arcane means (such as summoning, arcane animation such as with golems, or the arcane manipulation of naturally found embryos such as; eggs, and or the unborn) and then bound to the service of the one responsible. Familiars are often used as servants, guards, and or assistants to their masters. Tell me that doesn't apply to spike!!!
Twilight brought spike into the world by accidentally hatching his egg by arcane manipulation, sure it was a accident but that doesn't make it any less true. It would also explain why celestia didn't separate Twilight and Spike she knew that spike was bound to her.
I will admit that Twilight treats spike more like a brother/son then a familiar but I think that's more due to the age she hatched him and the way she was raised than anything else.
Super glad to see you writing again, Habs! Hope you're feeling better, mate. <3
Loved this chapter. All of the gifts were quite sweet, and I love the interactions between Night Light and Velvet. You really do make them seem like a married couple.
That tease by Cadence about filling the palace with fillies and colts was more than just a passing reference. Is this a link to something to come?
Meanwhile, Cadance leaned in and whispered in Shining’s ear. “Remember what we talked about. Four, at the very least.” Shining chuckled. “Yeah, right. We’re not gonna be satisfied with a measly four.”
And that alongside Velvet's incoming Filly/Colt is how the Equestrian Alicorn Pantheon got started.
7571460 He isn't bound to Twilight's service, unless you're suggesting that he's under some kind of geas or other binding magic. Velvet calling him a familiar is basically her saying that Twilight owns him, and that just feels out of sorts as far as these characters go.
7571373 Oh, given the rating of the story I'm almost certain you're correct. That's just more me musing about things.
7572776 And if Flurry Heart is anything to go by... This will be one pantheon badies wont want to mess with!
...But i think they'll put more wards and shields on the next one's crib. Not to protect the foal. More to protect the world from the foal.
Hey, since we're in the middle of season 4, Flurry Heart didn't happen yet ! Maybe this time around, the third Sparkle foal will show Cadance and Shining that yes, they need to put theses famous sus-mentionned wards and shields on their FIRST foal ? XD
“But I wasn’t the one who found the book!” Twilight protested. “Spike went out there by himself and found it in a secret room! If I’d known, I’d never have—”
“And why exactly,” Velvet said, her voice growing even colder. “Did you let Spike, a baby dragon, go off into the Everfree Forest by himself?!”
Excuse me but one: she just told you she wasn't aware that he had wondered off on his own voltion. That's not letting him go.
Two: so the fact that he's a baby dragon really matters when he wonders off (which he's done many times before and should be free to do so because he is quite capable of making his own decisions and competent in general though he makes mistakes) and accidently causes mayhem, but not so much when Twilight has him cook her meals, clean her abode top to bottom and other sorts of drudgery. Things that really should be concerning if he's just a baby.
I agree that Twilight shouldn't have gone behind their backs and casted all those spells on them. It was a gross breach on their right to choice. But then they try to pin the cursed book incident on Twilight's "poor responsibility" and that was just absurd. It felt more like an excuse just to show Velvet and Night being stern and to make Twilight feel as small as possible. They should've stuck to the matter at hand, it felt immature on their part to star pinning relevant, but separate, incidents on Twilight just because they were upset. A little forced. Only a bit justified by Velvet being "hormonal" at this time.
Just a hundred and thirty-three? In the fic I'm working on currently (chapter to come soon), Twilight puts almost five hundred spells on (not gonna spoil it)'s house and Twilight's husband (my OC) puts over two thousand, without permission. 133 is nothin'. But I get the point.
“WOOOOOOOO!” Twilight raised a hoof in the air. “Oh, I can’t wait, I can’t wait! I just know your kids are gonna be so adorable! I can’t wait to spoil them rotten!”
*Cut to the season 6 premiere* OH SWEET CELESTIA, IT'S SIX FEET WIDE!
Oh this is highly amusing! i THINK i'll be tracking this one.
So much love for and in this chapter. I love the characterization of Night and Velvet.

Something about the synopsis make me think this story has insest in it. Does it?
awww yeesss. I liked this. need more of this.
Oh this gave me a delicious idea for my own fic. I hope Shining is ready for it

No.
Always nice to see parents being parents!
7570314 No incest, just rejuvenation on Night and Velvet. The idea basically is "If your first two kids were this amazing, keep going! Buck like bunnies for Equestria! Make a whole litter!"
That struck me as a very odd statement from Velvet, honestly, and kinda demeaning to Spike. :(

Had a baby shower in a DnD campaign once, many of the same gifts, with similar enchantments were given...I am amused
I'm kind of sad that Spike wasn't in this one, is he not part of the family???
7570726 while it IS a bit demeaning, it's also technically accurate...
7571022 Not really...? He's more her adopted li'l bro.
7570828 At some level I'd wonder how childbirth would be difficult for anyone in Equestria. Oop, baby's done! *teleport* Here ya go!
7571041 I'd say it most likely has to do with elasticity and pleasure. Enough to make childbirth being something to look forward to, If you get celly's drift

Great chapter, good work.
7571021 He's grounded

Nice story. I especially like good backing plot.
Tiny nitpic (that can be ignored as Night's vernacular)
upon your mother and me
('cause you would use "upon us" not "upon we")
I personally prefer when Twilight and other educated characters use standard variants, here: "anyway"

The thought of a pleasurable birth shouldn't be all to weird of a thought. If you feel so inclined, google "orgasmic birth" sometime. It's a thing.
So much awesome in this story!
Man that's some crazy alliteration.
Excuse me but one: she just told you she wasn't aware that he had wondered off on his own voltion. That's not letting him go.

But other than that. What a sweet family~

I never got that. Why shouldn't they be allowed to see them? After all everyone is a baby at some point.
