This is another great chapter! I like the fight between Vesuvius and Molyneux and the reference to your Firefly stories was a nice touch. I hope you'll be able to continue that story sooner rather than later but I know it will take quite a while.
Hopefully next chapter will also tell us what the result is of the group meeting with the principals.
Why, thank you!
Thanks again! Good to know I sold that duel well. I worried that the reference to Firefly was a bit too gratuitous, but I also felt like it needed to be there.
I plan to continue it eventually, but unfortunately, you’re right that it will take a while before I get there. I really have to finish off most of my existing works before I start on something new, and at a minimum, that means finishing off the two Unleash the Magic entries. So those have priority going forward. But since you enjoyed the latest chapter, hopefully you won’t mind!
It might not be next chapter, but the one after it. Either way, you’ll know.
"How zealously do you rut your hoard?"
"... Every dragon does it."
"No we don't!" chorused the onlooking dragons with Pinkie and Rarity.
I do enjoy the developing plot in the present, and it seems even Midnight has her limits for horrors. As for the grand melee, well, we'll see how it shakes out soon enough.

Nope. They just dive into their hoards and swim through them like Scrooge McDuck. Actually, that’s a rather interesting ambiguity you pointed out. It bothers me, so I’ve fixed it now.
Glad you like! At this point, I’m actually sorry I didn’t switch to this narrative device sooner as its breathed new life into the story. I’ve used the story-within-a-story trick to good effect in works like Five Star Service and Firefly, after all, so why not here as well? As for Middie, for all her newfound knowledge and magic, she’s still just an immature girl granted godlike power she’s not really ready for. Especially if it exposes her to some profoundly unpleasant truths of history. Or the preseent, for that matter.
As I’m nearly done with the next chapter, it’s going to prereaders tonight or tomorrow. So you’ll be seeing how it shakes out within a week. Even if it’s not quite finished yet, I think you’ll be pleased with the outcome.
