(SOL) Giant Robot From Nowhere (a.k.a. The Bolted Behemoth)

For a change, here's a different team, but they're thankfully minor, like LUNA. This chapter is somewhat based on The Winglet's The Bolted Behemoth.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

Unbeknownst to both EqU and LUNA (the Equestrians in the teams, anyway), there is a third pony team in Mann's Land. Unlike those two, this team isn't tasked with fighting the RED or BLU Teams, but other rogue groups that are trying to sabotage their operations and take the appearance of those Mann Co. mercenaries.

This team was called SOL (Solaris's O████████ Legion), and the team consisted of Equestrians from Solaris Equestria. Their uniforms were themed in the color of Prince Solaris; light fuchsia-ish gray…which also happens to be Princess Celestia's coat color. Like their female counterparts, Rainbow Blitz and Elusive took on the roles of Scout and Spy respectively. However, the similarities end there.

For one, unlike her twin brother, Timerity selected the Soldier class. There was no male 'version' of Derpy Hooves in the team but instead had Big Macintosh's 'female self' Macareina, who took on the Heavy class.

Butterscotch selected the Sniper class, having a bit less in the courage department in comparison to Fluttershy to be in the middle of the fray, preferring to stay in the relatively safe rear line. In his first days in that role, he only served as a lookout, never taking a shot, though he has begun to do so as time went on. Conversely, Dusk Shine found the technical and helpful role of Medic more his style.

Applejack saw the 'Demopony' class as appropriate for him, not being quite as close to Applebuck as the female who shares his name is with Apple Bloom (so Timerity says, at least). Besides, Berry Bubble already chose Engineer, who was more enamored to the technological aspects of the class than whatever "baking" pleasures to be had if he took the Pyro class. Speaking of which, in spite of the redundancy for fire skills, Barbara was relegated to that.

Just like the other two teams, they also had humans aiding in their work. The one who managed training and strategy was named Andrea Truman, and Tasic happened to be her boyfriend. The technical specialist was named Katherine Tracy, and the medical specialist went by Libby James.

Presently, SOL was milling about at Sawmill. Elusive was just on his way back from the false BLU Team's base, having been tasked to take their Intelligence Briefcase.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

"He-he-he-heh. It's like Christmas morning."

The BLUE Sniper who said that was cut down by Timerity's signature spell at the Waterfall area. Well, she actually prefers a 'cat claw' spell, but she can't use that without standing on twos.

"Hmph, I wonder why my brother ever thought being the Heavy was perfect for him?" she said to herself.

A clearing of the throat was heard behind her. She turned to see…

"Lucy!"

With Elusive was the Intelligence Briefcase he had been tasked in taking. "Mission accomplished."

"Heh, you're not as bad as I thought."

The SOL Spy took offense to that. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"We got company!" came a 'calm' warning from Macaraeina as she ran over to them, then pointed to the cliff facing them. More specifically, what was atop it. It was the BLUE Engineer, who was shortly joined by the rest of his team.

The Demoman gave something to the Engineer. It looked like the Destroy tool of the latter, but when the genius pushed the button, something in the base exploded, some of its debris hurting Macareina in the process. She only grunted as she moved to safety. As for Elusive and Timerity, they prepared for combat as they saw the BLUE team descend the cliff side. The latter then sent out a magic flare to signal the others, though the explosion would've alerted them already.

And they all came, already at battle stations. Itching to fight, she switched to her Black Box. Already seeing Berry Bubble and Barbara engaging the BLUE Heavy, with the BLUE Scout coming in, she performed a rocket jump, already familiar with its basics and shielding herself with magic just in case, soaring in the sky…and tackling a BLUE Soldier mid-air. As both of them started to land, she moved so that he would take the brunt of the fall. She also 'snagged' his shovel and drove it into his neck upon landing.

She wasn't done however, and already sensed a Spy coming up from behind. In one fluid motion, she unsheathed her horn blade and performed a circular slash, revealing the Spy and killing him.

"Holey dooley!" gasped a BLUE Sniper at the sight before being stabbed in the back by Elusive.

"You!" The fancy unicorn turned to see a BLUE Heavy taunting him. "Yes, you! You are dead!"

"I don't think so," Elusive replied as he fired the Ambassador, the bullet going through the Heavy's head…and into a Medic's, who cried out in pain.

"Help me!" cried out the BLUE Demoman as he ran away.

"You're going nowhere!" said Timerity as she launched a rocket at him.

"Aw, cripe!" He was shortly blown up, one of his remaining legs reaching the BLUE Pyro. Timerity launched another rocket, only for it to be airblasted right at Berry's Dispenser, destroying it. The Pyro then jumped down as the SOL Soldier switched to her shotgun.

"I could use some help right now."

It came in the form of Rainbow Blitz, who cruised low before going into a slide, tripping up the Pyro in the process before blasting his head to pieces with the Force-A-Nature.

"Thanks, Blitzy," she nodded at her coltffriend.

"No prob," he gave a salute before taking off once more.

EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2—EF2

The SOL Team was winning, with zero casualties so far. Rainbow took pride in this as he pounced on a BLUE Medic, Soldier, and Scout, blasting their heads as he did.

He then saw a BLUE Sniper attempting to make a headshot on his teammates. Can't have that. He speeded over to the marksman, taking a second to wave at Butterscotch as he did, and tackled him to the ground, bashing his head with the Sandman and knockig him to the ground.

Below, Timerity could see the BLUE Engineer (who was in shock from the attack failing so quickly) and was about to blow his brain out…only to find that she was out of ammo. She prepared to resort to her magic shot spell, knowing it won't be lethal without much concentration. And then she head Rainbow yell, "Catch!" and saw his pistol coming her way. Weapons-tossing wasn't normally done, but she accepted the weapon, caught it via telekinesis, and used it to gun the Engineer down.

Timerity took pride in her quick-shot accuracy as she blew the smoke from the barrel. Rainbow jumped down next to her and the two did a hoof-bump as she returned his weapon. Everypony else took the time to wind down, having taken down every single one of them.

"Nice job, guys," said Andrea through their cards as small talk was made amongst the team.

"Are you all right, sis?"

"Eeyup."

"I'm sorry I didn't take the shot that time."

"It's okay, Butterscotch. You'll do better in time."

"Thanks, Dusk."

"This calls for a party!"

The conversations immediately ended when they heard two loud beeps from somewhere, followed by a mad cackle. Everypony turned to see that the BLUE Engineer was still alive! That was quickly rectified with a couple pistol shots from his SOL counterpart.

"Party pooper," he growled.

"I don't like this," said Andrea. "If that Engineer's laugh was any indication, he has something prepared for us. Prepare for any party crashers."

Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "Was that pun really necessary?"

"Sorry."

With that, SOL was on the alert, scanning the area for whatever the BLUE Team had in store. It wasn't long before a rumble came, but that turned out to be from an incoming thunderstorm. No rain came, however. And then the rumble continued; there was something here. Eveybody had their weapons out, ready to attack at a moment's notice.

Rainbow made sure that two shells were loaded into his Force-A Nature. Elusive already had his Ambassador out, aiming at likely places the "party crasher" would come up. Berry repositioned his Sentry Gun. Barbara kept a claw on her Flame Thrower's trigger, Dusk began healing Macareina to build an ÜberCharge, who in turn just looked about warily. Butterscotch debated with himself on whether to start with the Jarate or not. Applejack loaded as many grenades as he could in his launcher. Timerity reloaded her shotgun, then primed her horn blade spell.

And then it came. From behind the unicorn mare through one of the building's walls. It caught them all off guard as it grabbed her and pulled her inside. It looked like a BLU Heavy, only larger, and made out of metal.

"A robot?!" she gasped in disbelief as she rolled out of its punches. Before she could get up however, the robot made to crush her, but she blocked it by 'putting' the Black Box between them. Her surprise unfortunately dispelled her horn blade in the process. "I won't be beat by a piece of scrap metal like you!" It managed to get through, crushing it, then picking her up before tossing her through the wall it pulled her in through, revealing itself to the rest of SOL, who had gathered after hearing Timerity's trash talk. They also saw her crash behind them, screaming bloody murder, and were also too stunned on what to do.

"What are guys waiting for?" yelled Andrea. "Attack!"

This snapped them out of it and they opened fore at the Robot Heavy. Berry's Sentry had already been doing so when it detected it, but the android proved impervious and instantly crushed it with its foot. It then marched towards the ponies and dragon, who were steadily backing away. Once it reached Macareina, who was closest, it wrenched the Huo-Long Heater out of her mech-arm, then made to grab Dusk, who teleported out of range, emerged right behind Applejack, and activated his ÜberCharge on him. A Kritzkrieg ÜberCharge.

The SOL Heavy, already too close to the Robot Heavy, primed for a buck and gave it everything she had, sending the android back to the building it crashed through. The critical grenades followed, but not after a Jarate from Butterscotch, inflicting further damage and coughing up a lot of dust. Once the charge was over, Dusk motioned his teammates to hold their fire; there's no telling if the attack even worked or if the machine somehow escaped or survived.

When the smoke cleared, not only did it show that the robot was alive, it was already armed. On its right shoulder was a Level 3 Sentry Gun's rocket launcher, which just launched its salvo, all of which were crackling with Critical Hit energy. Unlike its Sentry counterpart, the rockets spread. One headed for Barbara and was airblasted back. Two en route for Applejack sent him away in spite of Dusk's healing. The fourth sailed right for the unconscious SOL Soldier, who was also stuck. Since Barbara was too far away to airblast this one, somepony decided to take the rocket, no matter how un-tactical it would be; Berry Bubble.

It also sent him away to the Limbo Room, and bad news would be discovered from Katherine; the BLUE Engineer's device that activated the Robot Heavy also messed up the Respawn system; those in the Limbo Room are stuck there until the android is destroyed.

The rest of SOL pulled back to the shed where the sawblades are, still firing at the Robot. Butterscotch landed a headshot, but the bullet only embedded itself in its head, and the android simply pulled it out. The SOL Sniper gulped in fright as its right arm transformed into a minigun, and it gunned him down, sending him away with plenty of injuries. Rainbow and Elusive cringed at the merciless gun-down; Snipers weren't normally shot down directly by a Heavy weapon.

With Timerity still unable to help (and thankfully not being targeted by the robot) and Macareina deprived of her primary weapon, the SOL team was pinned down, though some of them were already making their way around, but it would take a while. The SOL Scout turned to the SOL Spy, and took out his Bonk! Atomic Punch (Nuclear Rainbow 'flavor'), which he had switched during the calm period between the BLUEs and the Robot Heavy. Elusive saw what his friend was up to and nodded in approval. Rainbow then chugged the can, and felt its effects kick in.

The sky blue pegasus then darted into the line of fire, the drink enhancing his reflexes and subconsciously guiding his body to evade all attacks. Or that's what the Cherry Fission and Berry Blutonium ones the RED and BLU Teams have do anyway. The 'Nuclear Rainbow' flavor EqU devised and SOL acquired (needless to say, Nuclear Rainbow was a real Bonk! flavor, if only a limited edition) emits a personal force field that deflects all harm on the drinker. The reason those under Bonk's effects can't pick up the Intelligence Briefcase is because the briefcases have a special feature that prevents those with temporary invincibility measures and users of the 'practice explosive jumper' weapons from touching it. It also cancels the Spytron's disguises and disables them as long as the Spy is still holding the briefcase.

In any case, Rainbow, fully aware of the eight-second limit, wasted no time in rushing toward the Robot Heavy and—seeing a rocket head for it—waited for it to explode on impact before getting on top of its head. He turned to where the rocket came from to see Timerity back in action, with her some of the other SOLs. He decided to bash the robot's head in with his hooves, deeming his bat unnecessary for the moment.

"Attack!" cried out Timerity.

From the Robot Heavy's perspective, the remaining members of SOL charged from all directions, circling it as they fired. Dusk was 'healing' Barbara, preparing another ÜberCharge.

Timerity launched a critical rocket, but the Robot Heavy caught it without it blowing up (having reverted its Minigun arm to normal since it ran out of ammo), and then tossed it at Macareina's general direction.

The SOL Heavy attempted to kick it away, but it blew up on contact with the ground, sending her away, and somehow sending her Family Business flying (normally, it would've gone with Macareina). Elusive 'caught' the gun and used it and his Revolver to shoot at the Robot Heavy. But despite their efforts, they have yet to make a dent.

Having an idea, and realizing that the Robot Heavy was a machine, he took out his Sapper and 'hurled' it at it. The device made contact and did its work… for only a few seconds as the Robot Heavy—apparently unaffected—took it off and crushed it in its hand before dropping it.

At around the same time, Rainbow hit the Robot Heavy's head so hard he sank it deep into its body. Unfortunately, this also deprived him of something to stay on and he took to the air. While Timerity and Elusive kept shooting, the former no longer using rockets as she ran out, Dusk was about to deploy another ÜberCharge, but was unfortunately crushed by the Robot Heavy. Or would've been were it not for SOL's Respawn system.

Barbara, who had been receiving Dusk's healing before he was forcibly sent away, dove between the Robot Heavy's legs, letting it take her Phlogistinator when it tried to grab her. As she reached the Robot Heavy's back, she saw a weak spot at its waist. Unlike the other Pyros, Barbara's 'gas mask' did not obscure her mouth and therefore her speech, which gave her the opportunity to let loose a point-blank fire breath into that spot. The android saw this, swiveled its body 180 degrees, and managed to grab her, its palm covering her face. It then hurled her upwards, sending the baby dragon sky-high.

Then, just as Timerity had the same idea and jumped onto the Robot Heavy's back to find a weakness, the machine swiveled once more and also took to the skies by revealing rocket packs from its legs and activating them. "████!" was all she could say before she found herself screaming. While Elusive just watched them go, Rainbow went after them.

At this point, Barbara reached the peak of her involuntary throw and found herself falling down—straight for the Robot Heavy's primed fist. The impact wouldn't have killed her or even permanently injured her, but the card that kept her linked to the Respawn system sent her to the Limbo Room anyway.

At the Robot Heavy's back, Timerity saw Rainbow catching up to her. She directed him to the rocket packs and signalled him to take them out. The pegasus grabbed on to his marefriend (lacking any other part of the Heavy Robot to grip against properly) and started shooting at the right rocket pack. The reason he latched on instead of just flying parallel was because the gun's knockback in the air is a pain. The second it was off, the left pack immediately deactivated, leaving the Robot Heavy hanging in the air before falling once more.

The pegasus let go as the unicorn screamed for a while before aiming her horn at the Robot Heavy's neck and unsheathing her horn blade into it. The android's response is to turn its head 180 degrees so that she was now in front of its arms.

"Why don't you just break already?!" she cursed as the android's arms attempted to reach out for her.

"We're nearing the ground, Time!" the SOL Scout called out to her as he grabbed on to the unicorn. "Let go!"

Seeing the shack with the sawblades closing in, she unsheathed her horn blade, letting the Robot Heavy fall through the roof. However, the force of gravity was too much for Rainbow to counteract and he instead reidrected himself so that they crashed into the nearby river, Timerity blocking most of the impact with a shield spell.

Erstwhile, Elusive had been talking with Katherine. "The Sapper's not working on the Robot Heavy," he was saying. "Any alternatives?"

"Try the device the BLUE Engineer used," suggested the tech expert.

"On it!" And with that, he was on the move.

The two blue ponies surfaced, coughing out water before moving in once more. Much to their annoyance, the Robot Heavy was still in fighting condition. Rainbow was the first to reach the android, but not only did it successfully grab him, it also wrested the Force-a-Nature from him as it hurled him to a wall, followed by it pulling the weapon in two.

Timerity was quick to follow, firing her shotgun, but the android slammed its right fist down on her, hurting her seriously, but not enough to send her away. Something then happened to its left leg; Rainbow had jammed the Sandman into its kneecap, but before he could move away, he was pinned down by the other foot. And they were very close to one of the sawblades.

The SOL Soldier fired at the android's head with her magic shot spell before it grabbed her by the barrel, crushing the mech-arms holding her weapons. It squeezed her tight, but she wasn't about to give in, even when it looked like it was about to try and eat her tailfirst. It apparently knew now that the head was dangerous. "I am not gonna die as a robot's meal!" she said as she wedged her hind legs against its jaws.

This struggle, along with Rainbow trying and failing to escape the Robot Heavy's foot, went on for half a minute with grunts from both sides before the android suddenly ceased animation save for shaking in place.

"Did you forget about me?" a familiar voice came.

The two blue ponies turned to see Elusive levitating the BLUE Engineer's device, which had a Sapper attached to it. Timerity had no idea why sapping the device stopped the android, but she didn't care as she broke herself free from its grip, got on its back, then applied her weight onto it, making it fall down… with its head right in the path of the sawblade. "Off to the scrap heap for you!" she said as she then got off, leaving the Robot Heavy to its fate.

"Oh no!" For the first and last time, the Robot Heavy spoke, and it was a mechanical version of the big guys in RED and BLU. "Medic!"

What happened next made the ponies oddly thankful for their Respawn system; the Robot Heavy was torn apart slowly, as the sawblade had some difficulty slicing through whatever metal it was made of. Eventually, it cut off the head and the rest of the body exploded into scrap metal, none of it thankfully scattering on them, although the head flew over them somehow and hit the wall behind them.

"Woohoo! We did it!" cheered Rainbow.

"Mission accomplished!" cheered Elusive.

"Actually…" Andrea's voice came in. "In all the chaos, one surviving BLUE got the Intelligence Briefcase during all the fighting against the robot. We didn't tell you because the robot was a higher priority."

In the distance, the three could see a BLUE Pyro with a chef's hat and a long face wave at them tauntingly, briefcase in hand as he disappeared in a teleporter, which then self-destructed (or was destroyed from the other side).

"Dammit!" swore Rainbow.

"I'll have to go get it again, don't I?" said Elusive.

"Mm-hmm," Andrea confirmed.

As for Timerity, she just screamed, "FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU~"

And that's it for the chapter. :trollestia: Up next is Merasmus, but that won't be the last of the Eternal Halloween Arc.

SOL's team composition is based off of a DeviantARTist's depiction of the MLP cast as a TF2 team. Their name is Metal-Kitty, and purposely detracts from the norm in MLP/TF2 crossovers when it comes to assigning classes to certain characters and deconstructs the 'traditional' concepts. I liked how they made the team, yet I had already used the 'traditional' loadup for the Mane Cast, so I decided to use the Colt Cast to play this up (in case you forgot, the Luna Cast is a completely different herd of ponies, and I already set classes for them, though I already regret three of them).

If things seem a bit off about them, it's because Andrea's method of training differs from Tasic's.

…Yeah, Chronicle's twin sister is quite temperamental. See ya on Third!
