Finally, someone uses "blood is thicker than water" correctly!
Excellent job here and I absolutely love it!
Another great chapter, as usual.:D
Oh boy. Poor Alex.
blood is thicker then water
the original interpretation was that "distance does not change familial ties or duties" and was about remembering familly and home dispite distance, due to the high seas being tamed in the 1600s.
the modern (post WW1) interpretation is "a sibling chosen has more weight than a sibling imposed" Blood brothers being those that bled together sharing advercity, and water brother coming from the same womb." so the men who were going to the trenches of the great war were stanger but after four years they came back brothers. while with two cousin linked by genes in 1930 germany one could denouce the other because his uncle maried jewish.
I really like this story so far. I only recently started reading Displaced-verse stories because the first one I read before was just really awful but I'm glad I gave these types of stories another chance because I've found some really good ones. I don't know why but I especially like the KH displaced ones the most, even though I only played KH and KHUX (unfortunately I life got in the way and I had to stop playing KHUX not to long after the wierd side game thing with steamboat mickey was introduced, I think).
I love the whole dichotomy of Alex being Xion physically. There's a story I really like with the MC having been male and turned in to Kairi (I probably butchered that name) and just lives as her basically. I like Alex because he's actually having to deal with the things like confusion from other ponies or the unintentional biases we all have to one gender or another. Bias doesn't necessarily have to mean a bad thing sometimes. For example being more likely to rough-house with boys rather than girls, not necessarily a bad thing but there are some pretty tough girls out there and some pretty soft guys too. I happen to be non-gender specific, though that's a misnomer because I identify my gender as Me. I like seeing a story that can do this kinda thing without the story feeling like it is laughing at you insultingly or something.
