Derpy Hooves has never seen the Detective in action even if he's her special somepony. She's read the newspapers and heard the wild rumors of the great Detective cracking cases wide open when no evidence, or clues could be found. However when a Wonderbolts show goes array with a freak flying accident, the Detective is inclined to believe it was more than just a accident.

4581988 You are right that the Detective and Derpy in the prologue show a bond closer than the average friend or acquaintance, however as far as his job goes she has not seen him "in action per-say" The Detective tends to keep his social life and work life separate.

One more question, do you have any ideas of when you update this story? A schedule maybe?
4591322 Not exactly. On top of the obvious problems every writer comes into contact with such as time, ideas, and editing.
Other problem I usually encounter is army training with my time being taken by classes, problems with internet connection since although Wi-Fi is available, it peaks at 12Kbs so saving anything online is nearly impossible.
Once my schedule for training balances out and things stop changing I will be able to follow a more solid schedule with updates.
Interesting story, but did you ever think to use this guy?

4593661 That does sound like great idea using a new character in which I could mold instead of changing one into a situation he probably won't ever find himself in.
I contemplated with the idea of a Sherlock Holmes character but decided against the concept when attempting to compare the characters of Sherlock Holmes BBC along with the Doctor's
Sherlock Holmes's character was one of a bored mastermind looking for his next fun never quite caring for those around him.
The Doctor's character was one of looking for small joys and looking at the best in things, always giving people second chances and hope.
What I attempted to achieve was the mystery and twist of Sherlock Holmes BBC while keeping the moral and decisions of the Doctor from Doctor Who. The two reasons I feel in love with the two shows.
So I wanted to keep the familiar concept of the a loving, caring Doctor yet still keep cunning and intuitiveness of the great detective. From that stance I felt it best to keep the Doctor character while giving him a new life and Job.
