January Blog: And Now To Try This "Regularly Scheduled Blogging" Thing On For Size · 4:06pm Jan 6th, 2023
I remain standing after another year has passed. That feels like reason alone to celebrate.
I remain standing after another year has passed. That feels like reason alone to celebrate.
I never did put up a February blog, breaking my streak... but given what I did post instead... I think it's understandable.
I didn't get any extra hounding from Paypal that I was anticipating, thank goodness, and with you guys going far above and beyond the immediate goal, I could take a little time to centre myself rather than trying to immediately dive back into my to-write list. I feel more in control now and less like there's a pressing weight on top of me.
So. It's been a, shall we say, eventful April?
December's not typically a good month for me.
It's been a very bad month, even for December, so far.
Bad enough that I'd rather talk about it once we're into January and I can do so with hindsight.
But, hey, my commissions are open, if anyone wants to hire me. It helps me keep afloat, and honestly, I've been having a blast with the prompts I've been given.
Speaking of, onto the stats.
I'm starting to feel a lot better. Not perfect, but better.
We're still isolating (thank you local grocery store for having a delivery option) to be on the safe side, but we're all past the worst of it symptom-wise. I'll have to see what the guidelines are regarding time between having covid and getting a booster shot, because if this situation has taught me anything, it's that keeping on top of my vaccinations is very necessary. Maybe I can get my flu shot at the same time.
Another month, another blog post marking milestones, and this one had me unleashing an experimental story, blending ponies with a love of mine, TTPRGs. While I'm hardly the first to see that the combination is like peanut butter and chocolate (see the long-running Friendship Is Dragons webcomic, the richly-built Ponyfinder or even the officially licensed Tails of Equestria) being able to put my own sci-fi spin on it by using Ironsworn Starforged as the starting point
So, I mentioned having a bad December?
January was worse.
I'm going to be brief, because I have a lot of catching up to do, but I have some news.
"I'm going to rest and recoup" I say in my last blog post, and then don't do that.
However, I feel... genuinely good, right now. It's likely in part because we've gotten the air conditioner fixed, but still.
So, June was busy. Teeth things happened, I started two big ongoing commission projects that I'm excited to be working on, and did some more Youtubing as I find my footing there. I actually
Okay, maybe just one thing, in the form of dog antics: One thing about Bowser is he's an absolute food fiend. Part of it is there's some hound blood in him, and I've never met a hound that didn't inhale their dinner and then see if you'll share yours. The other part is being a rescue dog who took a long while to have it sink in that he didn't have to worry about whether he'd have anything to eat at all.
Well, it's been an eventual February. A new review on one of my stories, the launch of a new longfic, my first baffling brush with Equestria Daily...
Yesterday was Thanksgiving for me, and it was... surprisingly nice. I got to talk with my cousin a bit about my fics, and while she's not big into MLP herself, she seems to think the idea of remixing the show into various genres is really cool, especially when I started explaining how interesting worldbuilding is from the standpoint of so many different species existing in the setting, quadrupeds vs bipeds, winged vs non, and so on.
So far, September hasn't been much better. The physical side of it hasn't been as relentless now that the weather has cooled, though my migraines have still been nasty, along with some other sources of pain.
Yeah, I know all of this happened yesterday, but I was too tired to post a blog on it. Anyway, I'm now at the 100s and my main story is finally finished. This is truly incredible. I'm really happy about this. Everything is going perfectly.
