    March Blog: Well, February... Happened

I never did put up a February blog, breaking my streak... but given what I did post instead... I think it's understandable.

    Cry For Help

I've been cagey about what's been happening to me.

Part of that is an instinctive wariness of sharing personal info online. And yes, those of you who have worked with me through Paypal are free to note the irony, since y'all know my legal name but... you still get it.

January Blog: Technically It's Still January

So, I mentioned having a bad December?

    January was worse.

I'm going to be brief, because I have a lot of catching up to do, but I have some news.

December Blog: I Did Indeed Jinx Myself

December's not typically a good month for me.

It's been a very bad month, even for December, so far.

Bad enough that I'd rather talk about it once we're into January and I can do so with hindsight.

One Last Dance With The Dragon · 4:37pm Jan 22nd, 2023

One more post on the Dungeons and Dragon's situation, before I truly get back to ponies and stay there.

I'm not going to say a lot in text, just post this video:

Because it's better off to hear what the people who stepped forward said, from the one they've been talking to.

We have allies in WotC, but they're suffering as well. We'll never know their names, because that's the only way to protect them, but they're out there doing their best to keep us informed and help the community, even as it threatens their jobs, and even as the executives are determined to treat DnD like a video game in all the worst ways.

I want to be seething, and part of me still is, but after this I'm also just kind of... melancholy. And the irony that my pick-me-up, ponies, is also tied to Hasbro and its initiative is not lost on me.

But no one can take our stories from us. Be we fanfic writers or homebrewers, our creativity will remain no matter what the media we've used as our springboard does. And I can take comfort in that at least.

Given how much I've put into not just ponies but Magic: the Gathering, this whole debacle has been horrendously awkward. I can only hope wiser heads will prevail in time, and that D&D doesn't completely collapse in the process.

Thanks for the link. I’m not really involved in the tabletop scene but that was very informative.

Unfortunately, we will have to fight this same battle over and over again on many fronts. The codified strategy of maximizing profits is the single most powerful guiding concept of modern corporations. Boards can be sued by shareholders if they do anything that decreases profitability. In other words, unrestrained greed is not only good, but required.

There are many wiser heads out there, counseling reasonable compromises, but a corporation will always choose the strategy that makes more money. The only way to convince them to change course is to hit their bottom line. In other words, make lack of sales outweigh profits from amoral profiteering.
