    March Blog: Well, February... Happened

I never did put up a February blog, breaking my streak... but given what I did post instead... I think it's understandable.

    Cry For Help

I've been cagey about what's been happening to me.

Part of that is an instinctive wariness of sharing personal info online. And yes, those of you who have worked with me through Paypal are free to note the irony, since y'all know my legal name but... you still get it.

January Blog: Technically It's Still January

So, I mentioned having a bad December?

    January was worse.

I'm going to be brief, because I have a lot of catching up to do, but I have some news.

December Blog: I Did Indeed Jinx Myself

December's not typically a good month for me.

It's been a very bad month, even for December, so far.

Bad enough that I'd rather talk about it once we're into January and I can do so with hindsight.

February Blog: And The Winner Is... · 7:29pm Feb 3rd, 2023

So, it's been quite a rollercoaster of a month. I've made a few blog posts on the topic of the recent Wizards of the Coasts debacle, which served as a reminder: while Hasbro might be the company behind My Little Pony, and I'm thankful for it, but it's still a corporation, and corporations are not our friends.

That said, we can celebrate the victories. And we did indeed win. See for yourself here, with an extra dash of catharsis to it here.

Of course, there's nothing stopping WotC from turning the next edition of DnD into a mess, but when it comes to 5e? The companies making gamebooks for it right now aren't in danger of losing their jobs anymore, and that's the important thing.

Plus Pathfinder just sold seven or eight months' worth of hardcovers out over the course of two weeks, so it sounds like they're doing great. Call of Cthulu looks to be getting a surge of fresh interest, too, in the wake of a bunch of people looking to play anything but Dungeons and Dragons.

Now for some housekeeping...

  • My Ko-Fi has a new goal. I've recovered from the holidays, more or less (lack of job is still a problem, but I'm working on it) and with my mind on TTRPGs lately, and especially with the surge of interest that Pathfinder has been getting, I thought it was time I finally got my hands on a copy of both Ponyfinder and its 2e conversion guide.
  • My commissions are also still open, and I've modified the rules some going forward.
  • I've created an Eventide Verse group to gather up my stories. The mainline stories are sorted by the location they primarily take place in, while any branch continuities will simply be sorted by which timeline they belong to. It should hopefully help keep my growing catalogue of stories neat and tidy.
  • And lastly, a couple of weeks ago, I gathered up a bunch of story sparks and put up a poll, requesting that readers vote in the comments. And today, the voting closes.

And now, before I roll out this month's plans, it's stats time.

As of today:

Current Ongoing Stories:

Current Completed Stories:

Current number of followers: 41 (up from 38)
Words I've published so far across all my stories, both completed and ongoing: 86,114 (up from 72,383)

Completed story with the most words: A Moonlit Storm at 16411
Completed story with the most views: Every Dog Has Her Day at 597 (up from 536)
Completed story with the best vote ratio Every Dog Has Her Day at 65:0 (up from 62:0)
Completed story on the most bookshelves: Every Dog Has Her Day at 190 (dethroning Dawn of the Chiroptera)

Number of contests I've entered: 4 (up from 3)

Number of times I've been reviewed: 1

Other cool things:

Canon characters tagged in my works so far:

  • Mane 6 (The Long Eventide)
  • Princess Luna (The Long Eventide)
  • Night Light (A Moonlit Storm)
  • Fluttershy (Dawn of the Chiroptera and Every Dog Has Her Day)
  • Twilight Sparkle (Dawn of the Chiroptera)
  • Luster Dawn (Dawn of the Chiroptera)
  • Rarity (Every Dog Has Her Day)
  • Applejack (Lesbian Sheep Syndrome)
  • Rainbow Dash (Lesbian Sheep Syndrome)
  • Flash Sentry (Flash Memory) (new)

Species representation across my original characters (counted if they have both been named and given a speaking role) so far:

  • Earth Ponies: 5 (up from 3)
  • Pegasi: 3
  • Unicorns: 2
  • Bat Pony: 1
  • Zony: 1
  • Zebra: 1
  • Kirin 1
  • Sheep: 2 (up from 1)
  • Griffon: 1 (new)
  • Hedgebeast: 1
  • Abada: 1
  • Nyx: 1
  • Crocotta: 1

And now, before I announce my plans, the winner of the poll was...

Well, I only got one person voting, and since I placed the limit of votes at two per person, that means that Lightning Rod and Daring Do and the Mysterious Isle are a tied for one vote each. So I guess I'm flipping a tiebreaker coin.

...

The winner is a tale of espionage in the heart of the Storm King's lands, with Lightning Rod!

So, my plans for February will be:

  • Short story featuring Discord (since my Flash Sentry entry ended up bumping it to this month)
  • Launch Lightning Rod with its first chapter
  • Publish the next chapter of The Long Eventide
