Years before the prophesized thousandth, Lord Night Light was an asset of the Crown.

Word has travelled to Equestria about suspicious activity in the nation of Farasi, signs that an organization called the Thunderstrikes are in search of an artefact originally thought lost to time. Night Light has been summoned to secure that artefact, an amulet of unicorn make, and return it to pony hooves.

Joining him will be a dangerous mare who calls Farasi her birth home, and who will provide him his cover, along with a pair of charismatic locals, all with the same goal: To be sure that the amulet is retrieved as quickly as possible, and that he survives the retrieval.

I was happy to see the extra bit of time had yielded an entry. I was even happier to see it was from you. And having read it? I'm happiest of all. Fantastic work in bringing disparate parts of G4 canon and some brilliant original ideas together into a vibrant, cohesive whole, to say nothing of the characters inhabiting it. Thrilling bit of covert (and occasionally overt) ops. Thank you for it and best of luck in the judging.

That was a interesting story.

Nice start, and nice callback to the Amulet.

Really nice worldbuilding - I can see the port and then the capital itself.

Don't have to follow the amulet if you know where it's going.

Yup, the safe house is well and truly burned. Dungeon crawling time it is.

Really good backstory and world building, and I like how Kisu's use of shadow was shown in the first chapter and then used here where it's useful.

Also, Alicorn Amulet bad. BAD. And oh boy, it's going to get some action.

Hah! Well done with the misdirection :)

It's a really good story - everything weaves in with everything else, and the worldbuilding is fantastic! :)

After seeing this won the contest, I had to give it a read. And I must say, this was indeed a good little adventure.

Loved it! :pinkiehappy:

I love seeing well-portrayed, competent (even brilliant) characters in action, and the careful thought that obviously went into the mechanics of the magical shenanigans was all the more appreciated because of its usual scarcity in the works of most other writers.

Looking forward to reading your other works.

Nice stinger. I suspected, but you very deftly and naturally avoided confirming until the last moment.

Very nice. I love unicorn-technicians being clever. For story structure, I have to say I appreciated that Kisu and Night Light stayed focused on the mission as things went wrong. A lot of authors would have been tempted to have them go in to run the rescue together, possibly with some kind of deus ex amulet business, but what you've done makes both of them seem much more sensible and professional.

I immediately thought of the staff when I saw Sacanas. This is not the first story I've read where Sacanas was an extreme unicorn supremacist.

This is an interesting start in Farasia.

The crown's activities haven't been sufficiently covert enough it seems. Crimson Flame will not need much too go full nirik.

Yeah Kisu's statement about the restaurant not being safe anymore was something I concluded as well.

Clearly the Alicorn Amulet was meant to have a personality just as nasty as Sacanas herself had.

The ending was nice and Crimson Flame's ambition is not surprising.

Hello! Have a review. I can see how this won Ancestral Tribute. The tone of this reminds me of iisaw's Alicorn Adventures, and since I love those, that's intended as a warm compliment. It's fast, it's exciting, it's often funny, it's packed with world-building. I only wish there was more of it! (If the sequel is ever completed, I'll read it.) A great superior pulp thriller, and one I'm very happy to fave. Deserves a lot more views.
