Poll: The River of Ideas Keeps Right On Flowing · 8:51pm Jan 18th, 2023
Okay, away from the DnD uproar and back to the ponies.
So I've always got a lot of ideas bouncing around in my skull, and a lot of work goes into deciding just which ones to prioritize. And while I've been trying to make time this month for a couple of my smallish ideas (Lesbian Sheep Syndrome did indeed expand enough that an additional small chapter to cap it off will be necessary, but thankfully the Discord oneshot should indeed stay a oneshot), but there's still a lot, and I mean a lot, competing for my attention.
So I eventually asked myself, why not put what I prioritize in February to a vote? I'll put down the working titles, currently-planned tags and short descriptions of some ideas that have been haunting me with no sign of stopping it, add a bit of extra info that I think is relevant, and ask you folks, my readers, what you'd most like to see. Please vote for no more than two in a comment below, and voting will go on until I put up my monthly blog on Feb 3rd or 4th to announce who won.
Lightning Rod
Genre Tags: Adventure
Character Tags: Tempest Shadow, Grubber, Original Character, Zebra, Changelings
Short Description: A Crown agent is pulled out of retirement for one last mission. Her goal? Infiltrate the Storm King's forces... and make some friends.
This one would be a sequel to A Moonlit Storm, following Kisu alongside some new characters on her final mission for the princesses. This would lean much more on the movie-inspired elements and my worldbuilding for the Storm Kingdom... as well, as you can see from the character tags, a look at a young Commander Tempest through my universe's lens.
Stepping Into The Sun
Genre Tags: Drama, Slice of Life
Character Tags: Original Character, Bat Pony
Short Description: Redeye Flight never asked to be an ambassador for Equestria's bat ponies, but a fresh outbreak of vamponyism has forced her hoof.
Dawn of the Chiroptera never once set foot (hoof?) in Redeye's head, always showing her from the outside, and this sequel, with her some years older, would rectify that. More of a day-by-day affair than action-packed, with her working as an advocate for the infectees in the aftermath of a fresh outbreak of Chiropteran Equine Disease.
Ponies' Best Friend
Genre Tags: Drama, Slice of Life
Character Tags: Rarity, Sweetie Belle, Diamond Dogs
Short Description: Precious thought she'd left the pack behind, but it seems that the past is determined to chase her, and small pups even more so.
Taking part in the same continuity branch as Every Dog Has Her Day, and dealing with the aftermath of Precious taking up residence in Ponyville. After all, the only dogs privy to that last confrontation were Fido, Rover, and Spot. How much did they tell the others, and how true was it? So now there's diamond dogs with questions and motivation to find her for answers. Or at least, at first, there's one.
Daring Do and the Mysterious Isle
Genre Tags: Adventure, Crossover
Character Tags: Daring Do, Original Character
Short Description: When a strange landmass appears in the middle of the ocean, it's up to Daring Do to uncover its mysteries and treasures. Oh, and help some eggheads make first contact with the locals and not die in the process. That's important too.
Not a sequel! Instead, this is one I teased in an earlier blog, a crossover where part of the appeal is seeing the other property from an outside viewpoint, and so I'm reluctant to name the franchise in question. However, it's no real spoiler to say that the creatures that Daring Do will be meeting are not humans, or much like them. With a linguist and sapientologist along for the ride, Daring will adventure across a foreign-to-her landscape, and uncover why the isle appeared here in the first place, while clashing with a rival set of treasure hunters who have much less benevolent intentions for the locals.
Damn! They all sound really good, but I'd put Lightning Rod and Daring Do and the Mysterious Isle at the top of the list.
