Hey everyone. It's Memorial Day, so there won't be a Being a Better Writer post today. I'd like to say it'll be tomorrow ... but I also work tomorrow and Wednesday, so the best I can say is "It will be up when I can get it up."

Come on, who could resist that title? Anyway, although this is the sort of thing I generally put on Louder Yay, I thought a brief update might be in order for those of you who are kind enough to follow me here. Don't expect this sort of thing every month, nor for me to go into great detail. It's just a quick summary.
I'll be away visiting relatives for a few days over Easter, so I may well not get a chance to see (or review) episode 3 for a little while. I'll try to catch up when I get back. Also, a sudden avalanche of Stuff That Needs Doing Yesterday has meant I haven't been able to keep to my intention of putting chapter 5 of The Danger Within up by month's end. My apologies for that. It is coming as soon as I can, though.
I'm off on holiday on Saturday, so I won't see the next two episodes for some while. Also, no, I haven't abandoned writing. I'm embarrassed to admit that my so-called block-breaker bit of silliness (The Danger Within) has stalled, but I do have most of chapter five ready. One more small scene will do it, but I doubt that will be done before I go away. There's also another little one-shot that's about two-thirds done, plus another (more serious) story in outline. Yes, I've been fairly quiet over the last two or three weeks outside of the Being a Better Writer posts. And the reason for that is that I've been keeping very busy.
How busy? In the last week and a half, despite having family in town and pulling hours at my part time job, I've managed not only to get both BaBW posts done and up, but also 20,000+ words done on Jungle.
Hello readers! Those of you in the United States probably aren’t surprised by this, but those of you outside the US may have forgotten that today is one of the US’s largest holidays. As such, I’ll be taking the day off, which means there isn’t a new Being a Better Writer this week.

So, I got curious the other day and started digging through site history on here. Why? Well, I can look at stats here on a yearly basis (but not lifetime, for some odd reason) and started wondering about each year’s most popular Being a Better Writerposts. What, I wondered, was the most popular (read: one with the most views) to date?
Work on Colony must move forward with all possible speed, so this week’s Being a Better Writer post is being delayed until I get Beta 1 finished.
I know. I’d rather not do it. But I figure that I’ve gone ahead and posted on several holidays this year that I could have taken off, so overall I think everyone’s at a net positive anyway.

No new stuff yet, sadly. My English professor thought it okay to deviate from the schedule and tell my class last Tuesday that she was bumping up the date for our next essay's rough draft.

So, no Being a Better Writer post today, for a few reasons. The writing-based reasons are that I'm currently busy with getting ready for the new year, including planning out my goals and schedule for the coming months. As I've got a book coming out in a few weeks, that plannings got a very visceral feel, but I also want to see about making sure my writing goals for this year are accurate and keeping me up to speed.
Yup, I'm an American. And that means that once a year, when July 4th rolls around, I freaking love it.
Okay, yes, I know it's tomorrow. But back home, when I was younger, it was a multi-day celebration (I believe it's up to a week of events, now).
