So, I was actually going to post this yesterday, but forgot because I am smartest pony!
Anyway, this chapter starts back up some of the political intrigue and introduces a few new characters, as well as advances the plotlines for some of them.

So I'm done with the next chapter, but I don't wanna release it until I'm done rewriting chapters 1 and 2. Basically it's occurred to me that those chapters need some work, especially since they're the first thing new readers will go through. Ever hit one o those points where everything you write just reads bland? Maybe it's just my mood, but everything I seem to write sounds awkward. Trying to finish the next chapter of KOTD, and I swear everything just sounds so weird. Hopefully it's just me.
1 year ago to the day, I started off a massive quest. I wanted to write this huge idea for a story. So it's officially my one year anniversary for my novel.
So I'm sitting here, looking over my last bit of story line and realizing I have about 50k words left before I finish my first novel (It's at 117k right now). It's my largest story by far and I'm rather proud of myself since it hasn't been until this last year that I sat down and finished something I started writing. This is so weird

I know this chapter is kinda short, I ended up breaking it into two chapters. Should have 31 out in the next week or so since it's mostly done.
So, I am going to publish Canterlot in Flames, Chapter 7: Drums in the deep, here shortly. Likely sometime tonight, since it's the middle of the day and I am pretty sure not all of my subscribers are out of school yet like I am.
So, a few things about this chapter.
I did it I did it! Finished chapter 1 rewrite! Never again! I'm so sick of that damn chapter! I've rewritten it like...four times now? That's not including edit overhauls. Broke it into two parts because chapter 1 being 10,400 words is...uninviting. Ugh. I'm never touching it again. For the most part, I had way too many sentences that started with "I" like "I did this" or "I did that" so I reworded them as much as possible. There were also sentences that were unclear, or seemed...out of place.
Kinda put off the next chapter. I had an old family friend take his life and I've been trying to be there for some of his family. Also my financial situation kinda got steamrolled. So with all the stress, I just haven't really sat down to finish the next chapter. Wanted to drop a line and apologize real quick.

So, I am about to publish the second chapter of Canterlot in Flames, which will reveal the fate of our dear A.K. Yearling, who in the last chapter was more or less being hit full in the back by the shockwave of the Shadowbolts' cannon while protecting her soon to be nephew, Trick Step. Not to mention, the Captain of the Guard is dead! How many other ponies have suffered this fate? How bad off is Canterlot now? And for that matter, what happens now?
