Equestria's Mirage 2: Last chapter

Lets do this!!!

Ok, so, lets talk about this fic. This whole thing got started because my little brother, one evening, said "Maybe you should make a sequel" and I said "Only if I could get an idea"...well, I seem to have this weird thing when it comes to pony, I come up wiht ideas for the girls while I write. So, that night, I came up with the idea in a few moments.

I knew I couldn't just make it a plot where the girls go back. That would be boring, so I decided to make it a character piece and look at the nightmares/dreams of one character, the mare I relate to the most-Twilight Sparkle! Oh look, she just got corniated too, with a lot of mystery of how she might change and stuff (The answer of course was, not much) So, I wrote down in my head, three nightmares and three dreams, that I wanted the girls to go through. Sadly, the dreams were written last, the nightmares? Those were written first.

For the nightmares, I used a basic idea that I had when I wrote the first story, use the question of "What if Twilight and the others saw some of the darker themes out there, and their reactions." So, the question becomes, what to use for that? Simple, take some of the common complaints about certain aspects of Twilihgt and episodes (The abandonment, Immortality, and corrupt Twilight) and use that as a base. Luckily, one fic provided the best idea- Monster we made. It provided a good base for a corrupt Twilight. For abanonment, I went with a common statement I always had with the idea of the others leavign Twilight, they may have left for a moment, but they would've came back. and finally, immortality was from how I vewed it. So, I picked the likely two for it: AJ and RD for the two nightmares, and corruption was going to be handled by all six.

After I came up with some basic stuff for dreams (Perfect and being young) I saw I had two slots open for the others. That was when I came up with Rarity's nightmare, the one of death. I have a story in the wings where Twilight is faed with her real great nightmare, what can she do if she has nothing left to fight with? No firneds, no magic, and the pony seems to not be reformed. What if I took the third option away? I made an unbeatable option for myself. This left a third dream, Trixie. I knew she was coming back, why? Because she needed to, she was a main from the first movie after all.

But, what else could I do with this idea, to make it bigger. It was then, I realized something unique about Trixie, she is magic in another world. She is laughter in another world, and she has several background ponies as friends. That was when I came up with the idea, give Trixie a team and pair the mane six off with a pony from an alt verse without really making an alt verse. The pairing came to me a little harder, because I couldn't figure out how I wanted to do it. Element to element, opposite to user? I decided to make it element to element, in a sense. Octaiva is honesty, Orange is genrosity, Lyra is kindness, but Lighting and Blossom didn't match up. But I went with it anyway.

I also wanted to do somehting special for Trixie's dream. As a way to one, show that she has grown a little (by shocking the entire reading audience by having her refuse alicornism) and a way for Trixie to beat Twilight.

Then, we come to the final battle. I had a much more monsterous design for Mirage, but decided that this was a better path. Mainly because I wanted to go along wiht the subtleness of Mirage that I have been doing for the last part of the fic. I also wanted to end it with a song, much like the last story, just as a neat way to roll back. Also, I wanted "friend for Life" to be in a different scenario. I mean, come on! Do you hear the lyrics? They sound like something you play after a firece battle, not taking down a rival and reminding yourself that friendship is something that never ends.

The epilouge came to me after the Heart of Worlds became part of the same verse.
